Does anyone know what the song was that was playing when Peter is in the back of the cab? I can't figure it out...

if you're asking about the song that plays through the montage (starting from Peter in the cab, to Claire, to Hiro, etc) it's "Road to Joy" by Bright Eyes. smile.gif

lyrics:
The sun came up with no conclusions
Flowers sleepin' in their beds
The city cemetary's hummin'
I'm wide awake, its mornin'

I have my drugs, I have my woman
they keep away my loneliness
My parents, they have their religion
But sleep in seperate houses

I read the body count out of the paper
And now its written all over my face
No one ever plans to sleep out in the gutter
Sometimes thats just the most comfortable place

How about the instrumental stuff that plays while Hiro is exercising on the roof? It continues into the next scene with Claire getting ready to go into the train wreck.

er... i can only search for music with lyrics, unfortunately. sad.gif it's harder to find the titles for instrumental music. i'm sorry.

maybe one of the crew/scribblers can answer that smile.gif

though i think there's a different instrumental music for each scene. there's a sense of urgency in the background music of Hiro looking up to the sky, and a more of a sweeping or grand feeling in the music of Claire contemplating the train wreck.

While we're talking about Bright Eyes, is it just me, or does Milo look like Conor Oberst in the promo pictures?

Thanks anyway. I've listened again, and I still think it's the same piece. I agree about the change in feeling from one scene to the other, but it really seemed to me that the first part of the piece is still sort of audible when Claire's scene plays. I don't know what that's called...visually it's a motif, but in music? It makes me want to hear more.

Anyway. rolleyes.gif

hmm. the flames and the explosions in the train wreck kind of drowned the background music for me smile.gif

Two words: Wendy and Lisa.

Some of the score in the pilot was borrowed, but the majority of the score when you see it on screen and in the subsequent episodes willbe Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman.

You may remember them from Prince and the Revolution if you are a child of the 80s - or for their critically acclaimed credit sequences for Carnivale (and I think "Rome" as well).

They pretty muck rock as musicians and as people. You'll get it once you start litening to the sound of the show.

If I remember correctly the piece that plays while Hiro is exercising is from Peter Gabriel's soundtrack for "The Last Temptation of Christ" released commercially as an album called "Passion."

Is it just me or is the opening music borrowed from "Batman Begins"?

It's not just you, that's indeed Batman Begins.

Anyone know if the score for Peter's second flying dream - when he's in the taxi - is from a soundtrack, too? It seemed familiar as well.

And that's good news about Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman doing the score. Dare I hope that this also means Heroes will get a credit sequence?

The Batman Begins song, according to Wikipedia, is to be used only in the screener version. For those downloading the pilot on iTunes or watching the pilot on NBC will use original music. For those of you wondering exactly what the "Batman Begins" song is, it is called "Eptesicus" composed by Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard. Below is the link where I found this info. (In the Trivia section of the link)

OK, I have a song that you guys can track down... at about the half-hour point there is a song and the only lyrics i can remember are "in your eyes". Peter is in the cab, and then it's an overview of where everyone is at. It ends with Ali getting jumped by the thugs in her house. It's a beautiful song and i cant get it out of my head. It would be nice to have a name to go with it.

I believe blurredlights posted that song up there at the top for that scene, he said its called "Road to Joy" by Bright Eyes.

So Super Ordinary Guy, that Batman Begins song wont be on the pilot when it is shown on TV?

According to Wikipedia that is correct Viper. However, to test the validity of that statement someone who has downloaded and watched the Pilot on iTunes could speak up and say if the song remained in THAT version of the Pilot. Wikipedia stated that "Eptesicus" wouldn't be in the iTunes version either. If it remained in the iTunes version most likely it will remain in the Pilot.

The Bright Eyes song is no longer in the pilot. Instead there is the song with the chorus "in your eyes" - I'm trying to figure out the title/artist but am still waiting on a phone call.

I don't currently have a copy of the pilot with me, but if someone knows the start of that song (during the montage when Peter looks up at the eclipse through the cab) it can be googled fairly easily. Naturally the chorus "in your eyes" just brings up the Peter Gabriel song.

The annoying thing is, I looked this up once and have now totally blanked.

Missed the last train home

to finish this part
i can handle a lot
but one thing i'm missing

in your eyes
in your eyes
in your eyes

have you seen this film
it reminds me of walking down the avenues
well i'm washing my hands of attachments, yeah
i will land on the ground
but one thing I'm missing

Found similar lyrics here first. It looks like it's "Eyes" from Rogue Wave and was original music for the movie "Just Friends". cool.gif

And you might be able to listen to Eyes with this standalone myspace mp3 player (and if you can't remember the link to the song [and why would you?] and ya wanna listen to it, then just remember http://snurl.com/RWEyes). wink.gif

I just knew you would all come through for me. I appreciate it. I just know I will have to ask for more help to find more songs when the show finally starts. I do have another one for you if you want however. I need the first song in the end credits for "two for the money". If you come up with this one I will continue to be impressed.
