About the "Lights Out" reference in comic 5...do you think that has anything to do with why HRG kept turning off the lights in Sylar's cell when he was in captivity in episode 11?

All you have to do is right-click on the picture (post #50) and choose "Copy Image Location" (Firefox) or a similar option in other browsers.

Click on paste, and voila:

How to find the hidden content :

When you go to the Heroes website to view the interactive version of the comics, it loads a flash file which in turn loads an XML file containing the issue-specific information. For example, for issue 4, going to this URL :

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novel_010.shtml

Loads this flash movie :

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/heroes_CB...wf?bookID=audry

Which, thanks to the query string in the URL, loads this XML file :

http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/audryDATA.xml

For the most part, the XML code is pretty self-explanatory :

CODE
- <smallpage2>
 jpgs/audry_01_sm.jpg
 </smallpage2>
 <bigpage2>
 jpgs/audry_01.jpg
 </bigpage2>

But on the pages with hidden content, there's this :

CODE
 // === PUT EASTER EGG CODE HERE
 <page3Hs1coordAX>0</page3Hs1coordAX>
 <page3Hs1coordAY>0</page3Hs1coordAY>
 <page3Hs1coordBX>1600</page3Hs1coordBX>
 <page3Hs1coordBY>0</page3Hs1coordBY>
 <page3Hs1coordCX>1600</page3Hs1coordCX>
 <page3Hs1coordCY>2429</page3Hs1coordCY>
 <page3Hs1coordDX>0</page3Hs1coordDX>
 <page3Hs1coordDY>2429</page3Hs1coordDY>
 <page3Hs1link>
 java script:openwindow()
 </page3Hs1link>

The various coordinates specify the clickable area on the page and the page3Hs1link simply references the javascript that opens the hidden content. As far as what the hidden content is, open the first link again and view the page source (hit Alt-V and select the source option). Scroll down until you find that "openwindow" function in the XML file and you'll see this :

CODE

So, if you're wanting to find that hidden content, don't bother clicking all over the place. Just view the source. Or, even easier, if you turn off your pop-up blocker, you can just copy and paste this into the address bar of your browser after you've opened the interactive comic.

CODE
java script:openwindow()

Make sure to take out the space between "java" and "script". By the way, for those still searching, the hidden content for issue 5 is just another link to Claire's MySpace page.

Using the above method..

Comic 5 doesn't have an easter egg coded into the XML... however the openwindow function is Claire's MySpace..

http://www.myspace.com/clairebennet

Edit: And I see that's the last sentence of the previous post.

Blah.

Also, something I found anyway, the Versa ad is named "Suresh_01_ad.jpg" heh. Named after the first comic.. take out the "_ad" of the filename and get the first page to "Monsters"...

Ok, I'm gonna stop posting the obvious, now..

#12 it's up: http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/novel_012.shtml

The hidden link is the following:
http://www.nbc.com/Heroes/novels/downloads/peter_ee.jpg

As the comic is centered on Peter, the hidden image looks like another backstage shot of Peter from the events of Homecoming.

I wish they'd go back to the original concept of giving us a tease to what is coming via art, etc. I'm not all that impressed with the past few behind-the-scenes photos. sad.gif
