I'll try to wrap up answers to the last few questions and then that should be it. I've been given a link by NBC so that I can get started on the blog here at 9th Wonders that will (schedule allowing) go up every week to talk about the graphic novels. Depending on how things go writing outlines and scenes (for season 4) I'm hoping to have a post up to talk about Rebellion Part 3, "Family" this week, and part 4, "Left Behind" next week. Then since we're off for a couple weeks I'll go back and talk about the first two parts of Rebellion written by Zach Craley. SaberProductions: I have a question. In the show, Angela seemed to hint that she knew who Rebel was. Will we find out what kind of interaction she had with Micah and the others, if there was any at all?Can you tell me when specifically you're talking about with Angela? She's a crafty and "resourceful" woman, so it's likely she knew but chose not to share it with anyone. As for any specific interaction, I don't think there was any... though time could prove me wrong. SacValleyDweller: And speaking of artists, how much pull do you have with regards to sending the GNs to certain artists? If you had any, can you try to send some work Robert Atkins's way? I miss seeing his work in the mix. Thanks for those links on the scripts. I'll look into seeing if we can post them from time to time. As for how the artists are chosen, the writer is welcome to request an artist but ultimately the decision rests in the hands of the art houses (Aspen and Invisible College) to schedule and organize the artists. They're great at accommodating our requests, but often it simply comes down to schedule and whether the artist is available at that time or not. So as you can probably tell it's no coincidence that Jason Badower and I are able to team up frequently. felix777: 1) Are there any plans to bring back Hanah or Drucker at least in the GNs?I'm pretty sure they're as dead as can be. (I know, famous last words right?) 2) Now that The Company has folded, does that mean all those Artifacts in the Company Vault (in the Season 2 finale) been confiscated by the Goverment? Or is Angela keeping them safe somewhere? They could be any number of places by now. Sort of like soviet nuclear weapons after the end of the cold war. RyanGibsonStewart: Second, what nationality is Lee? What about Abigail--where is she from? We know they're both living in London...but there's definitely a backstory there. Anything you can tell us? How old are they? How and where did they meet? Where did they grow up?Hmm, yes. There is a backstory. One that has yet to be fully explored. All I can say at the moment is that they're in their early twenties. Sorry I can't be more specific but I don't want to step on or spoil any stories that we might tell at a later date. Sorry by7the7sea but I'm just taking questions on the graphic novels at the moment. Try catching me on twitter as I often answer questions there on just about anything. Rebel:1) Is Abigail Claude's daughter? I suppose I got the impression he was her father because he's going on a mission to rescue her fiance and because he's so protective of her. That's certainly a possibility, and your reasoning is sound... but there are lots of possibilities -- Claude could be her dad, step-dad, guardian, uncle, much older brother, soon-to-be-father-in-law, or just a really good friend... 2) Will we see Danko appearing in the GNs?It's possible we could see him in this Rebellion arc, yes. 3) We saw a "Specials" bar in "Fugitives", will we see other "Special" bars and places known only to Specials in the GNs or TV?Certainly a possibility, but no plans at the moment. I think that wraps it up. Thanks again for all the great questions. Don't forget, if you want to stay in-the-know on all the Graphic Novel happenings (as well as some show related tidbits) you can follow me on twitter and subscribe to my blog at http://blog.olivergrigsby.com/And I've said it before, but I'll say it again: Heroes fans rock! |

Here we go.
Gamistar: If, as it has seemed as of yet, the summer graphic novel will show what REBEL was doing during the tv series, will it include parts cut out of the tv series, such as Micha's scenes with Noah? And will we be seeing any cameos from more of the main characters? I answered the first part of your question above. As for other cameos... absolutely. Which bring me to my obligatory: "Be sure to read next week's graphic novel!"
Rebel: 1. Was Maya captured, killed, escaped, or not on the HLS radar and will she appear in the Rebellion arc? She doesn't have a power but she could still could help out, i.e. be the Mommy/Oracle--Barbara Gordon to these lost kids. Answered above.
2. What gov't agency is the "hunting" taking place under is it Home Land Security? Yep. Though I'm not sure how "official" they are.
3. What agency will it be (if you can tell us) in "Redemption"? Sorry, can't say.
Juba: Concerning Sparrow: There is a novel from Mary Doria Russel The Sparrow which also refers to Matth. 10:29 about "Providence in the Fall of a Sparrow" — is she an inspiration? I'm not sure, you'd have to ask Zach Craley.
Alright, I think that's everything. Thanks for all the great questions. I'll check in periodically today to see if people have any other questions or follow-ups. |

Here we go for round 2, trying to include the question to help make things a bit easier to follow: Albion1919: Well you know I want to learn what Maya's fate is. She was in contact with Rebel. Then what happened? I think Maya is just someone he helped escape. At the moment, there aren't plans to see her in Rebellion. Sheindie: My question is ... Monica?Micah is looking for her. TimeTravelJosh: How does the earlier graphic novel Libertad fit in with this arc? Libertad was just another name Rebel was using. In the timeline I think it takes place roughly around the same time as "Family". Those who've been reading the iStory know that Rebel had his hand in a lot of pots. Some specials he simply helped escape/go into hiding, others he formed into teams to fight back. Raekon:1) Will we see maya, the flight girl and the crawling guy from the GN again and find out what happened to them? It's unlikely we'll see them in the Rebellion arc. 2) I'm sure that they will at least let us know about monica a bit but how high are the chances she survives or returns to the show next season?See above. 3) Are there ANY chances we will see sparrow, west, abigail, lee in the show or are the chances rather high that they will be wiped like every other group in the GNs so far?I don't think we'll see them on the show. But I also doubt they'll be wiped out. (But this is just me speculating, anything can happen). 4) You wrote "cold summers", is this a hint that tracy will be seen in the series in a active manner that shows what she did between her "death" and her later reappearance?"Cold summers" was just a reference to the fact that the show isn't airing and the Graphic Novels aren't as frequent. 5) Is there a chance we will be seeing luke, alice, rachel or other "smaller" characters from the show in this novels? There is a chance. felix7771) Will we see Molly again?Maybe. 2) In your opinion why did Sylar-Nathan's revealation that he is special shut down the "Special hunting" Operation? Wouldn't Nathan be thrown into a cell just like with the others?Danko would have thrown Nathan in a cell, but in talking to the Chief of Staff (and presumably the President), Nathan was able to help them see reason. Especially in light of the human rights abuses that had taken place. 3) What struck me about the "Fugutives" was how easily "Specials" seemed to be captured. Considering the formidable nature of some of them (Ana, Sparrow), a number of them working together could level a small army. Were the "Specials" just natuarlly reluctant to use their powers to maximum effect for fear of killing someone? In "Fall of a Sparrow" Sparrow mentions that when she's in a city it's much harder to use her ability. Danko's team was also very well prepared, catching people before they had a chance to fight back or even think about using their ability. I agree that some of them working together could level a small army, it's the coming together part that's difficult, and in part what a "Rebellion" is all about Rebel: Does this mean will be seeing West again in the TV series? It's unlikely. juba: Do you have like a licence to trash and are free to choose how? It looked like Flint was given up (I dont regret, but I would not like to see a waste as in the end of last summer...)I'm not sure I fully understand the question, but we're generally able to do what we like with these secondary characters. That said, I don't want to see everyone die, either. raissad: Will we see HRG and Micah interact in the summer GNs to make up for the fact that their plot line was cut for time? Thanks. Possibly, we will be exploring what happened to Micah during that time period but I can't say exactly what happened. mrmichaelt: Will there be a story that focuses on Abigail and would it tie into how she, Lee, and Claude ended up together (filling between when we last saw Claude on Volume One of the show and when Elle met them in the Volume Three graphic novel)? There aren't any plans currently but it's definitely been something that's been bouncing around in my head for a while. Claude is a tricky character to deal with in the graphic novels as we always hold out hope that we can bring him back into the show at some point and need to leave ourselves open to possibilities. Rebel: Which comes first, the character you want to focus on in a GN or the story (theme, plot, idea) you want to tell?Usually the idea for the story (theme, plot, idea). Juba: Another question: Are you no more allowed to post the script of the GN's? I always appreciated those... That's a good idea. I'll look into seeing if we can do that. Where have you seen the scripts previously? Alright, that's a pretty good chunk of questions answered (takes me down to post #22 of 34 thus far). I'll be back to answer more later on. Good questions folks, feel free to keep 'em coming. |

I'll have to answer these in stages over the course of the day. I'll try to do so in order: Rebel - thanks for setting up the thread. There's no current plan to work this into the next volume (Redemption) This will run through the summer concluding roughly around the same time as an Invisible Thread. We'll then start a new (small) run of comics in September that will lead into the premiere of volume 5. 1. Micah is looking for Monica, so he sure hopes to see her again. 2. I think that would be of concern to Nathan and the President. Unfortunately Danko isn't the most scrupulous man and may not be telling Nathan everything. He could also be playing the "genealogy card" and claiming that someone like Damon is a likely candidate to manifest because of his family history and not worth the risk. 3. Claude is currently MIA. I'm sure Abigail is eager to find out what happened to him. I'll also take this opportunity to state that no one has said she's Claude's daughter. It's a possibility for sure, but not the only possibility BlondeGuy See above. FlyingGirl It's unlikely at the moment (that we'll see any of the new characters in the show). But always a possibility. Okay, I'll continue tomorrow (Tuesday). Keep posting questions if you have them and I'll work my way through. |

QUOTE (Merman @ Oct 21 2008, 09:22 AM) But besides the awesomeness of it all, I wonder who were those two folks at the stadium and bus and London Eye that Elle was trailing. I noticed the two of them seemed to stand rather apart, perhaps Claude was always in the middle? Good Eye. QUOTE (themightytruk) Oh, and I just noticed this. I think Elle is the first character to actually refer to Noah Bennet as HRG in the show/GN/etc. Albeit through a caption, but still pretty interesting to notice. Oops. Overall though, we're pretty thorough. Jason especially. I sent him 2 pages of reference links, but I know by the end he had tons and tons of his own. That's why you get all of those beautiful/amazing backdrops in this comic. Jason spent 6 months in England recently, and I was born there so we had a pretty good idea what we were doing. For those interested, this is roughly the route that Elle chases Claude along-- http://tinyurl.com/5zesby (turning on google's "photos" option is a pretty cool feature btw). Please note: there's nothing "to find" in that map, I'm just sharing something I think is neat. I can't thank Jason and Annette enough for making this novel truly amazing. It sometimes happens that backgrounds get turned into a blur of color, especially when it's not essential to the story. But that's just not the case with Jason and Annette (note the city background beneath the Eye amongst many many others). They took time and care with every panel and it's worth commending them on that. I personally think it really pays off. Thanks you two! |

Hey everyone,
Thanks for reading as always. It's such a treat to be able to jump online and see all the reactions.
First to clarify, issue 100 was going to be a big issue but due to some scheduling changes things all got pushed back a little bit, so I believe that issue 101 will start Jason's run and issue 102 will be the big one. The next (normal sized) issue, "Foresight" is written the talented Mr. Zach Craley and picks up where Hindsight ends. All of which leads into... well, I guess I'll just say "big things".
I can't really say too much about any theories, other than I love hearing them all.
I'm glad that people picked up on Gael's change in attitude. It's something I considered carefully, to me he's a man who is watching things crumble around him and he's starting to crumble too. As truk said "some major stuff" is about to go down. Basically I see him as a manager who just lost control of his employees -- he'd probably be worried about losing his job if the building wasn't (figuratively) burning down around him.
And what about Thompson's betrayal of Donna? I thought that was a pretty screwed up thing to say/do. Was he just trying to save his own ******? Is he a company man all the way? I thought they were closer than that (and apparently so did Donna). I'd say he might feel bad about what he's done but maybe he just never drops that ladies man bravado...
I'll leave you with this -- whatever you do, don't miss next week. It's definitely one you'll want to see for yourself. |

QUOTE (Synch @ Jun 17 2008, 02:23 PM) I'm not the only one confused about an apparent Branch outliving the apparent Root... Oops, I guess we should have clarified this: the Root in the back of the car with Sabine on the final page, isn't dead.Hope that helps. Thanks to everyone for all your support. It was a fun arc to write. |

QUOTE (Yarr @ Jun 6 2008, 01:26 AM) I think this was an error made by the artist. Lets no forget how rushed these comics are and dont forget how much we over analyze them.
The writing in that issue clearly indicates that the Root is the one who creates the clones. Its why Adam is searching for the Root. However, the art near the end seems to imply the clones are splitting into two and creating replicas.
Im going to stick with the writing and assume the art was a mistake. So I can't say much about the current GN just yet, you'll have to wait until Tuesday, but I can speak about Pursuit (aka Revolutionary War). Adam is searching for what he believes is the root, but his line "I had made a foolish assumption" means that he was wrong about there being a "root" as it turned out that all of the "clones" could duplicate. (And as was correctly drawn by Tom Grummett). So I hope that clears that issue up. Thanks for everyone's comments and feedback on Root and Branch. The next part, written by new GN author Zach Craley, will answer many of your questions and hopefully create a bunch more. We wrap things up in the co-written third part (there was always supposed to be three parts, the "1 of 2" was just a typo that got fixed). Few things: - Someone analyzed the "root and branch" title, a wise move. - Thanks to whoever said "a picture is worth a thousand words" -- The lack of dialog and captions was very intentional. I didn't feel the story needed it and if it's not absolutely necessary I'd much rather look at Jason's amazing artwork. There's a lot going on in those panels and all of it's deliberate. I'll post more and answer other questions when things get wrapped up. Enjoy the next part! |

Hey all, Not too sure where to post this but here goes: I'm auctioning off a package of signed Heroes stuff to help raise money for Child's Play Charity -- who each year donate toys, games, books and more to Children's Hospitals around the world. Please help spread the word if you know of someone who might like this (or get it for them as a Christmas Present!) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...em=160189561401From the listing: Heroes Pilot Script: Signed by Ali Larter, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Jack Coleman and Leonard Roberts. This is the final shooting script associated with the 72minute "Tim Kring" cut included on the Season 1 DVD and includes artwork done by comic book artist Tim Sale exclusively for the project. Heroes DVD Cover: Signed by Ali Larter, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Jack Coleman and Leonard Roberts. The seal reads: "2007 Comic-Con Exclusive - First Run Package". This cover was handed out at the 2007 San Diego Comic Convention to only a few thousand people; those able to attend the Heroes panel. It can replace an existing Heroes Season 1 Boxed Set Cover. (Please Note: This does not include any DVDs, it only a cover). Heroes Comic Issue #1 - Niki Cover: Signed by Ali Larter. Cover art by Tim Sale. Handed out at Wizard World Chicago. Contains a Hiro Comic, "Claire vs. the Cat" and an interview of Tim Kring conducted by Damon Lindelof. Heroes Comic Issue #2 - Group Cover: Signed by Ali Larter, Greg Grunberg, Adrian Pasdar, Jack Coleman and Leonard Roberts. Cover art by Jason Badower. Handed out at the 2007 San Diego Comic Con. Contains Heroes Graphic Novels #5 "The Crane", #22 "Hell's Angel" and #35 "It Takes a Village". Heroes Comic Issue #2 - Claire Cover: Signed by Jack Coleman. Cover art by Tim Sale. An "NBC Exclusive". Contains Heroes Graphic Novels #5 "The Crane", #22 "Hell's Angel" and #35 "It Takes a Village". Heroes "Volume Two" T-shirt: Size Medium. This shirt was given only to the cast and crew of Heroes and is not available for purchase. I'd estimate there were fewer than 500 made. Front reads "Heroes", back reads "Volume Two". Heroes Collectibles: Set of four tops trading cards. "Vote Petrelli" button/pin and a stick-on "helix" tattoo. |

Thanks everyone for the feedback. Figured, I'd take some time to answer a few questions. First a clarification: The story was written by myself and DJ Doyle. Aron Coleite is an overall editor (I think). Basically DJ and I pitch him the story idea and he says "yay" or "nay". Also need to give thanks to Chuck Kim who gave us some great story notes during the initial writing phase. The Idea for the story: I had a handful of story pitches one of which included Kensei as Rasputin -- a famous historical figure who couldn't die. Aron was understandably nervous about the real-world tie in but they definitely wanted a Kensei story which took place sometime between Feudal Japan and the present. Aron mentioned he'd been thinking about the revolutionary war mostly because it was a time in history he really enjoyed. I ran with that idea and came back with the basic pitch of "Adam is leading an army that gets decimated and he fights on by himself against this endless army until he realizes he's fighting the same guy over and over again and fights his way back through a long line of the guys to the "source" where they have a final showdown". From there DJ & I worked to refine the story, find a good breaking point for a 2 parter and eventually came up with what you read. So no, the idea was NOT "let's do a comic about a guy who can duplicate himself" -- It was a comic about Adam/Kensei and it really just came from the question "what would be a difficult opponent for Adam?" I loved the idea of a limitless army all made from the same guy, but what I loved more was it became about a man who couldn't die (Adam) versus a man who died thousands of times (Evan). The reason the Revolutionary war became such a great backdrop is that you have Adam representing England, the egotistical "power" lead by a King; one man, versus Evan who represents a country founded by multiple people united together. So yes, to answer someone's question "we the people" was a very deliberate choice, as was the title "Pursuit" which is a key line in the declaration of independence. And yes I am a big fan of highlander, at least the movies, never watched the TV series, though if there was any influence I think it was subconscious on this one. The Ending: I know, it ended in a draw... Part of the problem for me was that I don't see any way for either of these guys to defeat each other. And that was part of what Adam realizes when all these guys split apart -- if there's no "source" there's no way to defeat them all. And unless Evan gets sadistic and tries cutting up pieces of Adam until he gets lucky and sticks a sword through the back of his head like we saw with Claire & Peter last season... But the truth is I don't think Evan was trying to "kill" Adam. He was trying to teach him a lesson. He could have overwhelmed him with numbers at any time he wanted to (think Neo & Agent Smith) but instead he toyed with him, tried to cut into that enormous ego. So in a way it was an emotional defeat for Adam. Of course, as you see in the last panel he somewhat misinterprets that lesson. Interview: Yes, I was supposed to give an interview on HeroesWiki but due to a number of issues, most notably switching positions on Heroes and being a little short staffed for a while, got caught up and was never actually able to. I'll talk to RGS about arranging something or other to rectify that. And again, thanks so much for reading, it really does sort of blow my mind that I help create something and people actually enjoy it |

Thanks everyone for the kind comments, glad you enjoyed it This was an especially fun comic to work on. Kensei/Adam is a very interesting character and it was definitely a story that DJ and I could sink our teeth into (so thanks to producer/writer/editor Aron Coleite for the story approval). And of course a huge thanks to everyone who made the story come to life -- Tom, Nanci, Edgar and Comicraft. I have to give a special thanks to Tom for making my two favorite panels look phenomenal: The "Winter" panel of the seasons changing page when their swords clash -- the Evan in the hat that appears in the background is downright creepy. And the "rebirth" panel on the last page when Adam plunges into the water. When I work on a comic I don't specify the layout other than to say "these 3 panels appear on page 2" so it's up to the artist to pick which panel to focus on (if any of them should be larger/smaller etc), and I think Tom pretty much read my mind and made it all look awesome. As a writer you always worry that people aren't going to "get" or understand your work, so it was a big relief to see people seeing the point of it and enjoying the insight into Adam and how he came to be the person we see in the series. Everyone's been pretty spot on in their assessments. Someone mentioned in the 1st part thread that "Evan" is akin to "Eve" which was a deliberate choice. I think Evan is (unintentionally) feeding Adam the apple. He's trying to convince Adam, "Hey you need to give up your ego and start depending on other people in life" and Adam (because his ego is so huge) is interpreting that lesson as, "I need people to do my bidding and bow before me" (disciples). There are a couple of other intentional things that I won't explain right now other than to point you in the direction of the setting of the comic and the title. (PS. Not sure why it's called "Revolutionary War" on the website, but I'm going to blame the strike as no writers are in the office at the moment, it should be called "Pursuit") Lastly, it was great to see people having the discussion over whether Evan was an immortal like Adam or able to clone himself (Kudos to theX who first proposed the correct answer). When DJ and I constructed the two parts this was exactly the conversation we hoped you'd be having on the boards. Again, thanks for reading. Ollie. |

It's a puzzle, and the answer itself will tell you what to do. Also, I found the first two paragraphs of this article interesting. |

Hey everyone, just got another update from Masi, I'm going to post the whole thing verbatim for your enjoyment: "My sources at NBC tells me that nobody has found the solution yet Since I can't really post a new puzzle till the solution to the current one is found, here's a big clue (probably want to spoiler tag them): Focus on: The title: Bound by Death and Luck And the lines: I grow weary of hiding on the 15. In simple times, we used a courier to tell truth.Hope someone finds some the solution soon (^o^)" |

Hey all, Masi just called me and asked if I could post something to help clarify a few things. So, paraphrasing from the man himself... The blog is a collaboration between Masi and Writer/Producer Aron Coleite. It has its own timeline from the that is based on Hiro's character. The intent is to provide a little fun and something to keep you thinking during the long wait for new episodes. For those who noticed the change in formatting, it's minor and all the intended info has always been (and still is) intact. Lastly, for those who'd like a hint: The title of the blog post has significance.Alas, I don't know the answer myself so I won't be able to help you out with too many questions. Thanks for being super fans, we hope you enjoy this little adventure. |

Hey all, I haven't posted in awhile but I donated a Heroes package to raise money for a charity and wanted to let everyone know about it. If you have any questions about the package I can answer them here. To bid online, and for more information (and pictures!) of the items, go here: http://www.law.ucla.edu/home/Apps/pilfAuction/ The online auction ends on March 9, so bid right now to get your hands on the Heroes package and support a great cause! The HEROES PACKAGE includes:"Heroes" autographed pilot scriptHave your own copy of the script that started it all. A complete script of the pilot of "Heroes"--including deleted scenes--signed by the entire cast! Find out how the writers originally planned to introduce D.L.. "Vote Petrelli" t-shirtProudly portray your support for Petrelli this election with a "Vote Petrelli" black t-shirt. The back reads, "I have nothing to hide." Size medium. (you’ll want this before episode 22!) Two Limited Edition "Heroes" comic booksThese two exclusive comic books featuring the characters of "Heroes" (the Niki/Jessica edition, and the Hiro edition) are illustrated by Tim Sale, with storyline by Tim Kring. They are specially marked with the NBC Gold Seal. About the Cause: The UCLA Law School's Public Interest Law Fund (PILF) is having its annual auction to raise money for summer grants to students who do public interest legal work. In the past, PILF has given grants to law students who choose to take unpaid public interest positions for organizations such as the Children's Law Center, Public Counsel, the Legal Aid Foundation of Los Angeles, the ACLU, Protection and Advocacy, and about 100 other amazing legal organizations across the globe that provide outreach services to people who would otherwise be totally unable to access the legal system. |
