Well, i don't know the game in which you're taking the idea, but i played a lot of Magic: The gathering, so i'm a big CCG fan. In my opinion, it would be a lot cooler if you used pictures and screen captures, rather than the art from the comic books.
Also,are there events featured in this game? I mean, like magic enchantments...maybe you can make a card for the explosion!

In addition to characters, there are also equipment, locations, and plot twists. Don't worry, I plan on doing some plot twists.
I decided to use the pictures from the comics (also will use the Tim Sale art) rather than screencaps since I feel it fits better with the flavor of the game.
VS System consists of both Marvel and DC comics cards, and just recently a Hellboy Essential Collection was released. Each card features original art from a wide variety of artists in the comic book industry (Tim Sale has done the art for some of the cards), though just recently comic book cover art was used for a Spider-man card (the one with Iron Spidey overtop of Captain America's Shield).
If you're into card games like MTG, I would definitely recommend you try VS System. It has some similarities to MTG(Like lands, you put a card down each turn as a resource that let's you play better higher-cost cards), but it also has a very unique concepts such as formations. If you're interested, I would recommend you visit sites such as vssystem.com, vsrealms.com, or marveltcgonline.com (It has a free download, though it costs to buy packs).
