I was at the cinema today for Transformers and one pre-show preview in particular caught my eye... It was a shaky camera at a surprise party, as though it were a home made video. It's a going-away party for someone leaving for Japan. A low rumbling is heard, and new reporters think it's an earthquake. There's an explosion... the camera heads outside, debris from the explosion lands everywhere, one of them being the head of Lady Liberty... after that it said "From Producer J.J. Abrams" and then "Coming 1.18.07". It had all this, but no title at all. It caught me, so I did a bit of research on it, and so far what I've got is that it's a "secret project" of Abrams' (of Lost and Alias fame), and its working title is Cloverfield. You can read an article about it here, and see the trailer right here (before it gets pulled from Youtube). The trailer was first released during Transformers movies. I don't know about you, but I'm really intrigued by this... can't wait to see what it actually is. What do you think about it? better description from the article: QUOTE On shaky video cam footage, we see a group of young New Yorkers throwing a party for a friend who is moving. No music, no voice-over intoning “In a world…” Just what looks like raw footage. Then there’s booming and shaking. An earthquake? What’s up? The party goers head to the roof, where they can see things flying through the sky (meteors? explosion debris?) More running and confusion.Somebody says something like “Look at the size of that thing!” but we don’t see it on the videocam footage, which still looks raw and real even though it involves ****** shooting out of the sky. Near the very end of the trailer, we see a massive chunk of debris hit the ground: the head of the Statue of Liberty. Then: “From J. J. Abrams. Coming January 18 2008.” No title.

somehow I don't quite think so... according to the article I linked to up there, Cloverfield looks like it's going to be some sort of monster movie. Which is weird because while I was watching it I guessed "Godzilla...?", especially when one of the characters tells the main guy, "Looks like you should've left for Japan early..." I'm really intrigued. Apparently there are a few websites linked to the movie as well, and again, these are from the above article: 1-18-08.comEDIT: The following websites ARE directly linked to the movie. ethanhaaswasright.comethanhaaswaswrong.blogspot.compeople are comparing this kind of thing to The Lost Experience ARG.

aaand some more goodies- Details on casting, development and shootingjudging by the nature of the casting, it looks like they really wanted to keep this top-secret. Analyzing CloverfieldWhen reading these things, remember only one thing: people on the inside are really trying to be all vague about it, so nothing (especially the future!) is written in stone.

Analyzing CloverfieldWhen reading these things, remember only one thing: people on the inside are really trying to be all vague about it, so nothing (especially the future!) is written in stone. Where did you hear that ethanhaaswasright.com was affiliated? If it is Godzilla, which is interesting, then ehwr.com is most likely not related. If you've been playing the puzzles, you'll know what I mean. If it IS related to the puzzles, then that's very interesting. It makes me think of Exmortis. And that would be a BA movie. The trailer showed the severed head of the Statue of Liberty. After doing a bit of my own research, I found that a few things have a headless statue of liberty. Two of which are SMOKIN' ACES, and HALF LIFE 2. I don't know if it's Godzilla. It kind of makes sense, I guess. But for whatever reason, the characteristics of the trailer did not suggest Godzilla. But... something... I know it's there, it's on the tip of my tongue, but I can't seem to put words to it. Either way, I think it's going to be good. I'm going to be doing more research on this in the future, and will hit you up with what I find. Having said that, I will leave you with this: QUOTE So what is CLOVERFIELD? Well, word from inside the company is that CLOVERFIELD is a giant monster movie, featuring something that's being referred to internally as "The Parasite," and we’re going to see a trailer for it very soon that’s been designed and shot even as we speak. I’m not sure if it’s going to be attached to TRANSFORMERS or if we’ll see it later in the summer, but it’s definitely coming soon. And the end of it should feature one of those iconic images that makes people talk about a trailer for months. source

Okay, last little tid bit. Due to information found here , I am going to say that ethanhaaswasright.com is in fact, related to the movie. Which changes the feel completely. The only information that I am basing it on is this: The article, if you do not wish to read it (a good find, if I do say so myself, it was just posted 3 hours ago), tells of how trailers of the movie were posted on youtube, then taken down with a message like this: QUOTE "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by Paramount Pictures Corp." The "prize" videos that you recieve when completing one of the puzzles at ehwr.com were put on youtube, as well, but when I went to view past message 1, I got the same message. Paramount has their hand in ethanhaaswasright.com, and ironically, the trailer and that site popped up at the same time. I think they're related... which makes the movie completely different. Because, if you play the puzzles, you'll find out who Ethan Haas was... Dreadman - the second puzzle - look to the stars, and spell out HAAS in the strange alphabet.

Obvious, lol, thanks BR. No prob. I managed to get the 3rd puzzle down to one light left, but then it just started me over. I don't know what I'm supposed to do.

Yeah... I haven't been able to figure it out yet... I know that all three green balls have to be in the goals at the save time. But it's really hard..

Way to go with the sleuthin' skills! I also thought it was a Godzilla-like movie when I saw the preview, but I hadn't gotten around to researchin' it. I don't see any games/puzzles at the EHWR site. I right-clicked to "play" the flash file, but nothing happened. So then I looked at the view source, and the text that should be shown is the following: QUOTE ...war came, no longer from the elemental nor from the star's rain of fire. The world was again remade, and the glow was as the coming of the sun upon the Earth. The children of the gods were again too few, scattered and divided and among them walked the ancients and those whose thoughts were not as to the towers and the marvels, but to the End and the destruction of the Earth and to the fires from which nothing could escape. Since I don't see the games/puzzles, I don't know how the text relates... But I mirrored the main swf file here, it that helps (it's best to view it at full size). Are tptb tweakin' the site so the games are down at the moment? I can get the swf file to play some animations when messing with it by itself, and it looks like there are puzzles, but something's not working for me, I guess. Well, thanks theJollity for the scoop! I usually look for clues about stuff like that; must be outta practice or somethin'.

See, what you just quoted further makes me believe that it's an Exmortis like movie. And that would be so cool. Like I said before, I don't think it's Godzilla. But, think symbolism here. I have to go to lunch with a friend, and then to work - and then I may be going to see Transformers afterwards. But, we're starting to get a lot of information, and the fun part is putting it all together. If someone wants to look into "the fires from which nothing could escape," and "the world was again remade," that would be great. If not, I'll do it when I get home. You see, the thing is, that "world was again remade" thing throws me for a loop. Because it was AGAIN remade. Why was it remade to begin with. I'm going to post a list of parrallels between this and Exmortis as well. I'm starting to get excited.
