07/24 - Lyndsy Fonseca is out as Claire's gay cheerleader pal. She's out as in, off the show. According to Heroes creator Tim Kring, Fonseca's role had to be cut short after she landed that series-regular gig on Desperate Housewives . "She wasn't a pivotal character," Kring says of Claire's pal, who will now appear in just one episode. "The idea was that that part would grow, but it never got a chance to." New Hero Dania Ramirez revealed that when we first meet her character, Maya, "she's on the run from the cops." QUOTE (Hordak Alpha @ Jul 24 2007, 10:17 PM) I'm glad to hear this news. If I wanted to watch a show just driven about the character's sexual orientations I'd watch "Ellen", "Will & Grace" and all of those other ones which have to make being gay or straight such a BIG thing that really isn't so big anymore. ;P I dont quite agree with what you said.. I think that heroes is about real people discovering they have extraordinary ablilities. and weither or not some people are ready to admit it, or accept it, it is a fact. The numbers say that 10% of people are homosexual, and even if that is a high estimate, there should be at least one character who is gay. Your comment could be construed as "I dont want to see a black person on heroes, if I wanted to see a black person I would watch BET."

Gay, Straight, Black, or White we are all human so lets just be happy the show is still on the air. Hot Lesbian Chearleader or not.

I think a gay super hero would be great. Maybe they can have a super-keen fashion sense, or a really strong-gay-dar. Mostly likely they will have the ability to change the weather like storm from x-men, cause nobody likes a rainy day. and she could make rainbows all over the place.

Q: How many "emo" kids does it take to screw in a light bulb. A: "Emo" kids don't need light bulbs, they just sit in the dark and cry
Jim: Question, what kind of bear is best? Dwight: That's a ridiculous question.
Jim: False. Black bear.
Dwight: Well that's debatable. There are basically two schools of thought—
Jim: Fact. Bears eat beets. Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.
Dwight: Bears do not—what is going on? What are you doing?

Your comment could be construed as "I dont want to see a black person on heroes, if I wanted to see a black person I would watch BET." That isn't what I was implying. What I'm saying is that I don't see the big deal about the big deal made about a character's sexuality on shows, especially Heroes. We live in a day and age where all sorts of sexual orientation have more or less become the norm thus they aren't controversial as they once were. I'm just tired of, when there is a gay character on a show, that a great big deal is made about them being gay. The character is gay. Fine. This character is straight. Fine. This character is black. Fine. This character is white. Fine. So, do you get what I'm trying to say? If a gay character is being added to Heroes for shock value it isn't working on me since tons of shows before it have had gay characters. And if you're going to say I'm a homophobe, think again. One of my best friends in high school was a gay man and I was perfectly fine with who he was.
