So, there already exists a poll to get an idea of the age distribution of the HEROES fans and a thread to share where you are from (both are now in a password-protected area of the site, for OT discussions, and the password's "shanti", without the quotes, if you were wonderin'), but I thought I'd ask some more questions to learn more about the demographics of the HEROES fans who post at 9thWonders. I wonder if any trends will emerge (though it won't be like a scientific study with a good sample size or anything)? About the first question - I was curious, since HEROES has an ensemble cast with diverse backgrounds, if the show appealed to people with various ethnic/racial backgrounds (though it would be skewed to only show those who wanna vote online at 9thW). Most of the terms used were found here (but how come it doesn't say "Asian-American"?!?), so I hope I have not offended anyone (I also used the term "Latin American" in lieu of "Latino" and "Native American" instead of "American Indian", so I hope those terms are appropriate/not offensive). The second question was to see if HEROES appealed to people with a range of incomes. Are there relatively "affluent" people who really enjoy the show (and post here)? Please be truthful; you don't hafta post for identification if ya don't want to, ya know. Is the 18-34 year old age group, the target market for this show, also a group with an average range for income (though those who post frequently here seem to tend to be younger than the target market)? The last poll question was asked to see if you were the type to give service or help others, which helps to make the world a better place (a related thread is I, 'ROESian; are you?, also in the password-protected forum). Though it may not seem like it, the last two questions are related by the following quote: “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” - Winston Churchill Also, I was wondering if you considered yourself more of an introvert or extrovert, or if it depends on the situation, or if you're pretty much half and half, personality-wise, but I ran outta polls.

Question 1: Asian Pride, right here! I'm Vietnamese, but have no language background.
Question 2: This is kinda unfair for me, given I'm but a mere teenager. If I work at my chores, I can make $10 a week. But as I said, I have to work at it!
Question 3: Im a nut about picking up after those around me, and helping out younger kids. I scored in the top 5% on state test scores, and I see alot of kids who struggle. I don't frequently sign up fortutoring programs, but whenevr the oppurtunity arises, I take it.

I voted "other" as far as race goes since, in my opinion, Slovenian doesn't really fall into any of those categories. I'm not Caucasian (German, English, Icelandic, etc.) I'm not quite Mediterranean. But both of my parents are Slovenian, as is the rest of my birth family.
As for community service -- I would have answered "not yet" if that had been an option since I do plan on doing some community service and charity work in (hopefully) the near future. Currently, I am trying to raise $1000 for the American Diabetes Association for the PF Chang's Rock & Roll marathon coming up in January; I have to raise $1000 to stay on Team Diabetes Arizona. So I guess that could be called community service in a sense, now that I think about it.

QUOTE (Mabes @ Sep 11 2007, 08:50 PM) 1. Caucasion persuasion 2. none because im a student and im a bum who doesnt work 3. i said that i do because of the sarmy, and because in high school i volunteered at a local hospital. besides that i love doing stuff like getting packages together and sending them to the soldiers in iraq. i know its not as much as most people do but i try! as for the introvert/extrovert thing, im more of an introvert! for sure! You are the most extroverted person ever and that's a terrific thing. An introvert would never, ever have gotten a Press Pass, gotten Zach Quinto to make a promo video for the SArmy, started a chat party online and more.. You would be so good on tv..interviewing and chatting and more.

1. White. Both parents are of Italian heritage, and they don't know how to speak the language, but I'm taking it in school.
2. I work during the summer, but don't make that much, though it is pretty good for six weeks I think. I'm planning to get a part-time job possibly this summer or the summer I leave for college.
3. I'll admit, I don't do much community service, or at least as much as I want to. When I have the time in school, I volunteer in the special education classroom as a student helper. I'm hoping homework won't be an obstacle for me the entire year so I can actually go to the classroom more routinely.
Oh yeah, and I think I'm a little bit of both an introvert and extrovert. Depends on what kind of environment I'm in. Sometimes I'm that loud, outgoing girl that won't shut up, and other times I hardly speak.

1. I am Caucasian
2. I am a high school student who does not work
3. Community Service? Nope, I do want to though
4. I am NOT an introvert, I am shy. There is a difference. I don't work or do community service because of it. I almost never speak to anyone at school, I go weeks without saying anything (at school) because my friends are not in my classes. I am usually shy even around my friends if there is more than one.

1) I'm Caucasion 2) I don't answer any questions pertaining to income. 3) Community Service? Usually thru church or via random acts of kindness. 4) Introvert or Extrovert? I'm a Gemini..so I'm both..just depends on what mood I'm in.

Man, I shouldn't have made that "why do ya wanna know?" option for the last poll... There's a random sprinkling of incomes, and those of Asian descent are the second largest group (at least in the poll). So does anyone think the answers in the first two polls are surprising or show a trend?

Very american oriented survey, which is unfortunate, plus a person's locale can and is in many cases different, or at the least mixed. For me, I'm 1/2 Sami (the skandinavian version of eskimo... best comparison I can think of) and 1/2 canookian ( a bit of first nations, but mostly european aka "caucasian") QUOTE I also used the term... "Native American" instead of "American Indian", so I hope those terms are appropriate/not offensive). In Canada, it is called "First Nations", I am not sure if that includes the folks from the north (call you call from Alaska, even though there are thousands of acres in that area outside of Alaska) or if they are known as aboringinals.

"Honestly, it's like a car wreck. And not just a fender-bender...one of the type where you've got blood and guts all over the place with the EMTs trying to revive dead people. It's like I hate the show, but I watch out of habit. I build myself up, only to be let down week after week."

Yeah, I at least wanted to base it on something official, though decidedly U.S. member-oriented. My bad.
