Wonder if she feels typecast?!? Anyway, she's gonna play a cheerleader in "I love you, Beth Cooper" (excerpt): QUOTE Atomic pair: Panettiere, pom-poms By Leslie Simmons and Borys Kit
Jan 17, 2008
Hayden Panettiere CORRECTED 3:03 p.m. PT Jan. 17
Hayden Panettiere may be wearing a new cheerleading uniform.
The "Heroes" actress is in negotiations with 20th Century Fox and its Fox Atomic label to star in the teen coming-of-age movie "I Love You, Beth Cooper."
Chris Columbus and his 1492 Pictures partners, Michael Barnathan and Mark Radcliffe, are producing. Columbus also is in talks to direct.
"Cooper" is based on the novel by Larry Doyle, a former writer for "The Simpsons." Doyle also penned the screenplay and is an executive producer on the project. Panettiere would play Beth, the school's hottest cheerleader who shows nerdy valedictorian Denis Cooverman the best night of his life after he proclaims his love for her during his graduation speech.
The studio is aiming to start filming in the spring. Debbie Liebling and Zak Kadison are overseeing for Fox Atomic.
Panettiere, best known as cheerleader Claire Bennet on NBC's "HEROES," recently wrapped filming "Fireflies in the Garden" for Senator International, which stars Julia Roberts, Ryan Reynolds and Willem Dafoe. She is repped by WMA and Brookside Artist Management. Grrr... Didn't proof-read the title. It could have said "Hayden gets to act like a cheerleader..." or "Hayden gets to be acting like a cheerleader..." Oh well.

So, the one-day, one-night plot doesn't show Hayden actually in cheerleader garb, it seems. This article tells more about the movie plot, plus a tidbit about a sea-lion in her lap, and her sayin' that the first ep. of Season 3 is "phenomenal": QUOTE Hayden making a splash Heroes star a regular at Vancouver Aquarium Glen Schaefer, The Province Published: Wednesday, April 30, 2008 Hayden Panettiere would like to point out that her currently filming movie role doesn't exactly make for three cheers. Sure, the 18-year-old became a household name as an indestructible baton-twirler in NBC's paranormal ensemble drama Heroes, and before that, she was the lead cheerleader in the 2006 sequel Bring It On: All or Nothing. But as the title character in the high-school comedy I Love You Beth Cooper, Panettiere notes that her character's cheers are all in the back story. Hayden Panettiere, who plays an indestructible cheerleader in Heroes, says the script for the third-season premiere is 'phenomenal.' "When somebody asked me if I was playing a cheerleader again, I was like, 'No, I'm not -- I'm not getting in the outfit,'" she says during a break at a Vancouver soundstage. "Pfft, they got me in the outfit and they got a still picture." Director Chris Columbus's movie takes five classmates from different backgrounds through the day and the night after their graduation. Newcomer Paul Rust plays the gangly valedictorian who turns his speech into a declaration of love for the popular girl who doesn't know he exists, launching them and some classmates on a series of misadventures.Panettiere, Rust and three co-stars have most of their scenes together, meaning the past six weeks have been spent mostly on locations together. The petite actress, who has long been active in the international campaign to change the Japanese fishing practices that threaten dolphins, has been a familiar face during off-work visits to Stanley Park's Vancouver Aquarium, many of whose dolphins have been rescued from Japanese nets.
"I've spent quite a lot of time at the Vancouver Aquarium," she says, adding she arranged to meet visiting Heroes co-star Jack Coleman and his family there on one visit. Aquarium staff recognized her and took her on a behind-the-scenes tour."With the dolphins, they actually let me go down and play with them," she says. That visit also included a close encounter with a sea lion. "They took her out of the cage. She's huge. She's probably 1,000 pounds. She got on my lap, but she was very aware of the fact that she was much bigger than me, so she would get on my lap and she wrapped her head around my neck. It was the most incredible experience."On the job as Beth Cooper, Panettiere sports a strapless purple prom gown that must have her wishing she was back in a cheerleader costume as she hikes the top up. The one-day, one-night plot means no costume changes for any of the cast. "Uggh, I want to burn this dress now -- I used to like it," she says, giving it another hike. "When you've been wearing the same outfit for three months . . . my friends make fun of me, 'In the beginning you were like, "Look at my dress, isn't it so pretty."'" She'll finally gets out of that purple frock by late May, when she's due back on a California set for the third season of Heroes. The show took some shots from critics for its meandering second season, but Panettiere's pumped.
"Oh my gosh, I just read the first episode and it is phenomenal," she says. "I think it's better than the pilot for the first season . . . it's back to that action."They've figured out how to do it, they figured out how to go back to the first season. They've learned the concoction."

Looks like Hayden Panettiere will reprise her smokin’ hot cheerleader role in the onscreen adaptation of former screenwriter Larry Doyle’s coming-of-age story titled I Love You, Beth Cooper. Reminds me of some past teen flicks like American Pie and Can’t Hardly Wait, with the a geeky high-school valedictorian publicly professing his love to class beauty Hayden Panettiere (Beth Cooper) on graduation day. The 20th Century Fox film is set for an upcoming summer release on July 10, 2009. As my anticipation for the movie’s release grows, I encourage that all you Hayden Panettiere and Heroes fans out there check out the official movie website at iloveyoubethcoopermovie.com. Word has it that the website has a couple of surprises in store over the coming months but for now looks like you can view or create your very own customized trailer, pass it along and share it with your friends or significant others! PS. Hayden is looking VERY good in the trailer cant wait for the release!

At another HEROES fansite was a google ad for the movie, and the official site is here. Couldn't find that url just by googlin', though. I did find the writer Larry Doyle's ILYBC site, and he's got ILYBC movie news which you can check out, if ya want. Just passin' on the info. Well, the movie site wasn't showin' up on the first page of the search before, but, um, now it is. So, uh, disregard that comment... Also, the striped rugby shirt that Denis Cooverman wears is reminiscent of Steve's on Blue's Clues...

Hayden wants ya to upload your own "Beth Cooper Moment of Truth" here for the chance to have it broadcast on national TV. Yeah, that'll happen... And, if ya happen to have a way to play .flv files, then the video about the deal is here.

So, I thought it was her way of creatin' hype last week when Hayden said she was really naked when she dropped the towel for a scene in the movie: QUOTE Hayden Panettiere isn't afraid to bare it all – at least not on set.
"If I can't flaunt it at 20, come on!" Panettiere said while promoting her new film I Love You, Beth Cooper, in theaters July 10. "I mean I might as well show it now."
In the movie, Panettiere plays unattainable Beth Cooper, a high school cheerleader and the object of dorky Denis Cooverman's (played by Paul Rust) affection, and in one locker room scene, the actress drops her towel.
"It didn't bother me much," Panettiere said of shooting the "reveal." "I think when the person who's doing it gets all uncomfortable and shy, then it's other people around who get more uncomfortable because they're uncomfortable. I mean I was fine – everyone was really professional." Probably just sayin' stuff to the press for publicity? What's kinda funny is that, now, she says she's shocked by how much was shown. (Seems like she makes impulsive choices, only to hafta deal with the consequences after the fact. For example, here's one response about her misspelled tattoo ): QUOTE She is a good sport when asked about a misspelled tattoo on her back. She says she discovered the misspelling when she was in France for the Cannes Film Festival. The tattoo, in Italian, is meant to read "Vivere senza rimpianti" (To live without regrets). Her tattoo reads "rimipianti," adding an "i."
"I got a phone call telling me about it, and then I'm running around like a chicken with its head cut off, yelling, 'Get me a dictionary!' " she recounts, laughing. "It's so typical of something that would happen to me. So mortifying. ... I'll probably get it fixed, but in the meantime, I'll just say I was putting my own twist on it."

It wasn't the best movie I've seen this year, not by a long shot. And it wasn't even the funniest one I've seen. I liked it and all, but there were too many parts in the movie where I laughed, merely because I noticed I hadn't laughed at all in a while. Sure, it had its moments where I did indeed laugh because it was indeed funny, but those moments were few and far between.
Hayden did a good job, I'll admit. In fact, none of the acting was bad, from any of the actors, at least to an extent. At the same time though, I just didn't feel very involved with the story. They were just going place to place doing things rather than weaving an actual story together.
It's a shame really. I didn't have high hopes for this movie at all, but I still expected more than what I got. Take my advice and wait for the DVD. You can at least rent it then. Better than wasting the ten bucks you'll wish you hadn't spent.

Yeah, I chose not to spend any money on this movie, because I figured it'd be not much above "meh". In my opinion, that was a good decision on my part. I actually skipped over parts of it because they were kind of boring me, but the parts I did watch were mildly entertaining.
Like Req said, none of the acting is bad, but I definitely wouldn't say it was fantastic acting, either. Also wouldn't say it was fantastic writing, although it could've been a lot worse. If I had to give it a rating, I'd say 6/10, maybe 6.5/10 tops. As was expected by some, its an attempt at a modern-day 80s-style comedy.
Best part? Everything Alan Ruck said and did. Since the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off is one of my favorite movies, anything with Ruck is instantly better.
