It sure would be nice to get inside the heads of the NBC bigwigs, but I don't believe that the numbers don't make sense without their input. Cancellations, budget cuts, shifts to another network, these are all things we can only guess at. But if the ratings are going down, that's bad, and if they're going up, that's good. We know that for sure.
I see the numbers going down and start to worry. A lot of terrific shows have been axed during the short time I've been an "intelligent viewer," and right now Heroes is, in my opinion, less than terrific, so I'm that much more anxious as to its fate. Guess I'm just the fretting type - I envy those of you who aren't, though.

QUOTE (GoldSeven @ Feb 20 2009, 12:38 AM) I want someone from NBC to complete this sentence: "I think the viewer ratings in Heroes are __________, and that means we'll _________."
Otherwise, they're just numbers that don't make any sense. I'll look in to this. ~PbN.

It seems that the ratings dont really count for much when taking into consideration the various ways the show can be viewed. Still it makes me worry that the show might be cancelled which would be a shame because IMO Vol 4 has improved in quality so much from Vol.3 and I liked the "villians" arc. Every show hits a slump( 24 did, Lost did,) but it's how you come back that matter, though networks are too quick to cancel shows before they get that chance. Plus I dread the thought of only being left with garbage like American Idol and other reality tv. I live in reality I don't need to watch it on tv.

QUOTE (Citizen @ Feb 23 2009, 09:51 AM) Can you expand on what your experiment entails, PBN? Making visual representations (bar graphs) of the ratings and the fan "approval" ratings for each episode this season, with "approval" being defined as the percentage of ratings of 4 or 5 on the episode polls. Then seeing if there is any correlation between ratings and fan ratings, and if there are any patterns or trends that might give us some hints as to the show's future. ~PbN.

I just wanted to point this out, from Beeman's column: Greg Beeman Back in June we were shooting as many days as needed to complete episodes. But by December a much stricter budget mandate had come down from NBC/Universal. Ever since episode #15 we had to do our episodes in ten days and hit a specific budget number – no “if “ “ands” or “buts.”
I've been reading his blog since S3 started and loved the insight and candor within. But the way he casually mentions things that involve waste has been driving me nuts, making me think it's a universal problem involving the entire crew. I am not involved with the series, know nothing about filmaking, nor claim to be smarter than the average empty wine glass, but for him to specifically point out where their "do whatever you want" blank-check agreement ran out, and have that not be one of the many noticeable detours of the likeability of the series is quite telling, to me. He complains how limiting it was to shoot in fewer locations, MEANWHILE, the performances by the actors portraying the characters we love were better than ever!! I mean, seriously, am I the Lone Ranger here, or is someone else sensing a disconnect? I say cut the budget down even more, stop with the "blank checks" and hire people who don't even notice 'cause they love the material they're shooting! (seriously, Peter stomps on HRG's stolen ride and says: HI!! That's a MILLION times better than some lengthy, nosebleed battle with a Vault door that he should have Phased through!)

Just noticed it and got a screencap (gonna make a slideshow like the HEROES TAMi numbers eventually)... That's a bummer. Hopefully gettin' under 7 million viewers (according to the Nielsen ratings) isn't a bad thing for those who decide at nbc.

Id wish (here we go add this to my christmas list ) they would switch chuck and heroes to other nights like flip the biggest loser on tuesday with chuck and heroes or something it would put them in a less competitive place i mean there is only so many viewers to divide across so many. plus pitting 2 major drama series against eachother like 24 and heroes will force people that love drama to watch one of the two while it broadcasts... I would hate it if heroes got canceld.

Never say that something is impossible you won't be able to prove it since you do not know all, the universe has alot of space so it could be in the other corner of the room... Smart people go evil sooner then dumb people here is why: > smart people > learn alot of knowledge > knowledge corrupts > corruption makes evil > wouldnt it be a much better world if we we're all dumb...? Life is a big joke the punchline is we dont get to hear the end untill we die. Question: Who is god ? Answer: God is that person that you can talk to at all times but he is always to busy to answer.

QUOTE (bwm27 @ Feb 24 2009, 06:23 PM) Your speaking too soon. There is going to be another season. They're even talking of what kind of plot Ali Larter will get next season. However, if next season gets very low ratings, then I guess they'll pull the plug. Right now, the ratings are excellent and after episode 20, the ratings will further increase because Bryan Singer is back. Check out this article: http://www.heroestelevision.com/heroes-season-4-news/That article doesn't really say anything.. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but it was written way before the ratings hit below 7 million. I'm excited for Heroes to be able to keep going, but if it follows this trend... Well I dont see much hope for it.
