Well, like I did for the previous volume*, I'm gonna make a list of the urls for the Total Audience Measure index (or TAMi) pdfs for this season, and will probably make another slideshow widget for volume 5 of the HEROES stats (just a compilation of the pages for HEROES, beginning with this screencap)...

So, here ya go:

RE: The TAMI Index

So I guess I'm confused...we barely had 6M viewers for each episode 9/21. Is this a calculation of both episodes or do they have the same day DVR playback included? If they shoved both episodes together this number is inaccurate because it was probably the same 6M people watching the entire 2 hours so they would have counted them twice. I wonder what sources they are combining.

The seven day DVR playback won't be available for about another week so they probably didn't include that data.

Edited due to atrocious spelling.

Yeah, I keep wondering if the TAMi numbers are actually significant or if they're just NBC's marketing effort to make it look like they aren't in the horrible spot they are. Do they mean anything to either advertisers or NBC execs? I mean, I know the only numbers that really matter are dollars made and spent, but...?

Well, NBC does repeatedly have the top shows in the "most pirated" listings. That must mean something.

I'm sure they recognize it on some level, but since they aren't making any money off of the pirated downloads it has to p*ss them off.

Just found the Television By The Numbers report. According to it, the show didn't drop at all between the 2nd hour of the premiere and last week's episode. Instead, it climbed. Heroes had 5.82 million viewers last week. http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/09/29/s-tv-...implosion/28773

That's compared to 5.77 million in the second hour of the premiere. http://tvbythenumbers.com/2009/09/22/tv-ra...show-fall/27997

It takes 3 weeks for the DVR numbers to be calculated. If they go by the timeline as previous years we should get the numbers on Tuesday the 13th.

Oh well! Once the DVR ratings are factured in next week, according to the post above; these ratings will improve, but will still be low, but have a better improvement. Here's a place to see the official numbers once their in:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_heroes_episodes

Also, I think we can still get in a few more seasons or so because the show really helps out NBC and they won't be ready to finish it because their other shows aren't good either, especially Trauma.

Cast members have repeatedly said that "Heroes is on the forefront of a new ratings system," or words to that effect. I don't think NBC particularly cares about Neilsons anymore, since everyone pretty much knows that Neilsons are crap now.

House Petrelli/Heroes All Access is working on arranging a meeting or phone call with NBC. If we can do that, you can bet I'll be asking them exactly what is going on with ratings and new seasons and suchlike. I'll post here if I hear anything from them.

I do recall Adrian saying as much on his YouTube page. Any further clarification, especially from NBC would be very much appreciated. Thanks a lot, PBN.

I am very interested in this new ratings system, as I am an advertising minor in college, and the Neilson ratings system, while well known for its flaws, is still being taught as the gold standard. I've even had to make fake advertising buys based off of Neilsons horrible book of evil. It Sucks, but as long as advertisers chose their spots based off of Neilson ratings, the networks will have to use them. Neilson has been doing ratings since back in the day, and it would take a huge effort, and alot of clout to try to stray from their system. I don't think NBC is in any position to do that, but if they want to try, more power to them.

Third straight week of all 3 numbers hitting series-lows. Only the hardcores are left. The rest have moved on. I expect an announcement on Heroes' fate by week's end. In absence of that, I predict they will fall below 2 in the demo by month's end.

Paul, I wouldn't go that far, considering Monday Night Football made ratings for every show go down. Plus heroes actually gained from overnights to finals, take away monday night football, and heroes demo possibly rises, so definatly not time to panic

3rd straight week? In case you missed it, the numbers are rising, not falling.

Last week they were up. This week they're up.

Last, but not least, have you ever known someone, or even known someone who had known someone, who was a Nielsen Family?

Yes, but not recently. Actually, my family did one of their old digests for a week. Way back in 1990. rolleyes.gif

I also had a friend who turned down being a monitored family in 1997? 1998?. It was a long time ago, but Neison does actually seek feedback. The question is their methodology and the newer aspects of viewership.

I "heard" that the Heroes volume Five premiere was one of the larger downloads on certain sites. rolleyes.gif I don't know if that is monitored.

Okay, I spoke too soon. I just checked TVbythenumbers.com

Heroes had 5.41 million viewers last week.

But, let's face it, numbers were down, in most cases drastically, across the board. Why? It's really simple.

What have you been hearing everyone talk about since Monday? Favre beating the Packers. Nobody's talking about anything else. Why? Because that's what everyone watched.

I think Synch may be correct about the football game drawing viewers away from all shows in the time slot. I canna say why, but let's just say I saw fluctuations I've never seen before while watching TV from a certain point of view. Huge fluctuations, by a factor of 3 to 4 in difference.

Yeah, that was a big game.

I don't think the ad companies are going to care because in the ad companies Power Content Ratings last May, Heroes ranked in their top 10 of ad shows. Even with the ratings, the ad companies get in the number of ads they want with the program and they're pleased with it. Did you study the Power Content Rating system in your minor? If so, how exactly does that work? Also, I'm not familiar with the Neilsen horrible book of evil, but have you ever studied the Canadian counterpart to Nielsen, BBM Canada? If so, do they both use the same so called horrible book of evil?

This is where you are wrong. One of the biggest reasons for all of the product placement is to help with their ad dollars while the sow is still being illegally watched.

Pirated copies of the show tend not to bother with commercials. Most of the sites you can find them at have already cut the commercials out.

And DVR viewers fast forward through the commercials.

That's the reason you're seeing more product placement- that's advertising people can't fast forward through.
