Well, like I did for the previous volume , I'm gonna make a list of the urls for the Total Audience Measure index (or TAMi) pdfs for this season, and will probably make another slideshow widget for volume 5 of the HEROES stats (just a compilation of the pages for HEROES, beginning with this screencap)... Yeah, I keep wondering if the TAMi numbers are actually significant or if they're just NBC's marketing effort to make it look like they aren't in the horrible spot they are. Do they mean anything to either advertisers or NBC execs? I mean, I know the only numbers that really matter are dollars made and spent, but...?

I am very interested in this new ratings system, as I am an advertising minor in college, and the Neilson ratings system, while well known for its flaws, is still being taught as the gold standard. I've even had to make fake advertising buys based off of Neilsons horrible book of evil. It Sucks, but as long as advertisers chose their spots based off of Neilson ratings, the networks will have to use them. Neilson has been doing ratings since back in the day, and it would take a huge effort, and alot of clout to try to stray from their system. I don't think NBC is in any position to do that, but if they want to try, more power to them.

Paul, I wouldn't go that far, considering Monday Night Football made ratings for every show go down. Plus heroes actually gained from overnights to finals, take away monday night football, and heroes demo possibly rises, so definatly not time to panic

QUOTE (Synch @ Sep 25 2009, 04:48 PM) Last, but not least, have you ever known someone, or even known someone who had known someone, who was a Nielsen Family? Yes, but not recently. Actually, my family did one of their old digests for a week. Way back in 1990. I also had a friend who turned down being a monitored family in 1997? 1998?. It was a long time ago, but Neison does actually seek feedback. The question is their methodology and the newer aspects of viewership. I "heard" that the Heroes volume Five premiere was one of the larger downloads on certain sites. I don't know if that is monitored.

Did you hear that?
It was the sound of Wolfus getting more epic.

I don't think the ad companies are going to care because in the ad companies Power Content Ratings last May, Heroes ranked in their top 10 of ad shows. Even with the ratings, the ad companies get in the number of ads they want with the program and they're pleased with it. Did you study the Power Content Rating system in your minor? If so, how exactly does that work? Also, I'm not familiar with the Neilsen horrible book of evil, but have you ever studied the Canadian counterpart to Nielsen, BBM Canada? If so, do they both use the same so called horrible book of evil?
