Wowzers, the new Hiro speaks perfect English, has a sword, and a soul patch! What's he gonna tell Peter? Oh man, I can't wait for the next episode!

Yeah, in real life that actor speaks perfect english. He must be from like 10-20yrs maybe even more in the future because it would take a long time to lose an accent that fast and he looks older.

it was like a play on the dragon ball z version of trunks. if you read "hiro's blog" it tells u how he feels like trunks from the future.

Yeah Hiro is a little badass isn't he? I didn't know what was going to happen when time stopped and Peter could move.
Then when Hiro showed up, I was like oh snaps that's Hiro, nice.
This show is just getting crazy.

I love it how Hiro is the most talked about in the forums. Lets not forget what Claire did to that jock and Niki in the elevator and hotel. That was so awesome

Yeah, Hiro is definetly the collest character, but does the translation on TV actually mean what he's saying in Japanese?

I think the best part of the show, was when Hiro got knocked out with that single punch by that guy in the alleyway, i laughed so hard at that part, i mean, Hiro didn't even see it coming, it was just, BAM, and down, such a difference between the Hiro now and the Hiro FROM THE FUTURE!

If you mean the subtitles when he and his pal Ando are
talking, my Japanese is not strong enough to say for
certain that the translation and dialog match. But my
instinct says that, given the potential for fluent speakers
with DVR's complaining if it doesn't, the writers probably
match the dialog as much as possible (idioms and such
not-withstanding).

From what I know of Japanese, it seems like a pretty accurate translation.
I mean, they're definitely speaking genuine Japanese if that's what you were wondering.

Yeah, this is getting pretty good. Hiro is by the far the most engaging character, while Niki is the most complex... I mean that girl has issues. She decides to do the right thing and something grabs hold of her and she goes back to to the room to honor her deal (presumably to safegard her child and not for evil's sake).
I was wondering about Claire, super-healing but not much strenght... not much good in a fight, I thought... I guess she figured out a way to use her power to take out evil-doers...

I think the definition of the "right thing" is what is in question in this entire episode, but very obviously in nikki's sequence. In the most common sort of moral sense, sex with a stranger is the "wrong" thing and that is nikki's opinion. In the very visceral sort of "I don't want to die" sense, having sex with Nathan to ensure that the mob does not chase you and your young son is a very "right" thing to do (I apologize for the quotes). This episode is thematically about the gray area in using your power for good (read: Claire...), while the plot (and the name) simply bring all the characters together.

Masi Oka is actually completely bi-lingual. He speaks fluent Japanese and English. Its in his bio on NBC. Thus, I would assume it is actually Japanese.

Yeah, Hiro's the bomb. But why does he have to come back from what appears to be a relatively distant future? This is as opposed to say, a few days, or at worst, a few months? Obviously, it had been sometime on account of his appearance and his English. What would require that much time passing in order to be able to come back and warn Peter?

How many times must I tell you about the war. Clearly, Ninja Hiro comes from a future where the bomb went off, causing a huge war which the heroes got caught up in. Early on Peter got a scar. He came back to help Peter and co. disarm the bomb and prevent the war. Kind of like terminator, with fewer robots.

Not that many years necessarily have to have passed for Hiro to loose his accent or taken up some martial arts training. This could be one or two years down the road. Given the fact that he can manipulate time, it's not an inconceivable stretch that he could learn things in short span of time what could normally take decades.

It's also concievable that if he wanted to train in something he could find the perfect masters.

Apparently Ando got his way though. No cape or mask.

I really think that wasn't Niki. I think her alter ego did it to protect her from her morals in that situation.

Ever see "The Incredibles"? Capes just get in the way and make you look lame. Certainly can't be very stealthy with a big flowing cape. And what if it gets caught in something?
You know it's gonna be awesome to see the transformation of geeky Hiro into bada$$ Hiro. Future Hiro looks like he could take on those guys in the alley again and then some.

Isn't it amazing the difference a goatee and katana blade make?
I'm reminded of the end to The Weather Man, where Cage stops getting messed with when he walks around with that bow and arrow. Sometimes it's all about presentation.

You're right. Nothing stops him from going back in time and meeting and learning from the greatest masters of martial arts and such. Hiro must have great physical and mental strength to travel through time and endure what he has seen, and carefully choose the way he'll help the rest. Looks like he would be a great leader.

Maybe it took him that long to be able to not only travel back that far in time, but also to be able to manipulate the timestream enough to be able to pluck someone out and engage them in "stop time" while everyone else around is still stuck between the "ticks" of the clock?

I don't know.
The ending to this episode wasn't shocking to me at all. In fact, I kind of cringed at it.
Does any one else think that Hiro sometimes looks like a fat lesbian woman sometimes? I don't know, I just felt like pointing that out.
But seriously, that was straight out of Terminator, and now that someone mentioned it, DBZ.
STOP WITH THE REFERENCES ALREADY DAMN IT! We get it, Hiro is Japanese and is a nerd. He is a cool character already, he didn't have to go all Trunks on us.
I thought him speaking Japanese only made his character extremely likeable.
Still, I can't really argue that it wasn't cool.
Looks like he has perfected his time warping powers to the point where he can stop time for everyone except him and other people he chooses.
Pretty damn cool.

Or is it that Hiro comes to Peter because Peter is the only other "hero" who, at this point in time, has accepted that he has some sort of ability (though Peter's not sure exactly what it is or how it works yet)? (Isaac also now seems to have accepted his ability, but his only works while he's on meth, and he's currently high, at this point in time). It might also be the case that Peter's ability allows him to step outside of time with Hiro, when Hiro is present.

That's my theory -- Peter's the only one Hiro can talk to when he freezes time, because of Peter's mimicry ability.

See attached picture. It's pretty easy. When you reply to a topic, you will see a special box called "
INSERT SPECIAL ITEM." Just highlight "
Insert: Spoilers" and type what you want in the new box. Viola' you're done!
