Full Version: Anyone Else Disappointed with "Collision"?
9th Wonders Boards > Episode Discussions > Season One > #4: "Collision"

I don't know how I feel for sure, but at the moment, I feel slight disappointment. The future Hiro thing was just... weird to me. And all the HRG and MBG stuff was just... confusing. Although, I really liked the Niki B parts.

I need to watch the episode a couple more times. But is there anyone else out there that feels this way too? I think I just need to watch it again! Maybe I'm just crazy, maybe it was just too awesome for me? blink.gif lol

BEST YET!
Jon
Yeah, um.. It was definitely my favorite episode so far.

The writing was much improved, and the storyline is getting to be spectacular.

You knew that Hiro would end up using his powers to contact one of the heroes in the past. That's what his power is good for.
Tynesha
Really? I gotta watch it again. My mind was on university because I was at an info session, so maybe I wasn't in my Heroes mood? Lol!
SideFFect
Did you watch in in "global vision" (IE: crap vision)

Because I WAS watching NBC, but of course, here in Canada, Global takes over everything, and they cut to commercials WAY too fast (like whoa! that was so coo...*commercial* ) and the whole episode just felt rushed in general... (mind you, previous weeks were ok, altho the pilot episode...oh man, it would freeze and the characters would keep talking, total disaster!)

All thanks to our wonderful friends at global who percieve commercials as more important than our enjoyment.

No more Global for me; im watching it here each week instead!

Yeah, I gotta agree with everyone else. Both my wife and I felt this was the best episode yet and we can't wait for next week!
Pit Weston
My favorite episode too.

Off topic, I need to register soon. biggrin.gif

Back to the topic.. I am all for Matt. He is on my list of favorite Heroes. There is something about him that I connect with. I just cannot pinpoint it. I wish he had more airtime. Besides that, the whole Claire getting revenge, Hiro loosening up...great. Excited for next weeks already.
Viper
Nope, I'm not disappointed... Far from it in fact. This is my favorite episode this far.
KyleSBeaver
I usually hate to agree with a crowd, but this was totally the best episode yet. Don't know why you didn't like it, man.

I agree, it was weird that they start the epiosde with HRG and Matt and don't touch it again...but still, easily the best episode yet.
roxygr1223
it was a bit slow, but i want nathan to fly..next week for sure he will yay
clashmd
This ending really did remind me of ep. 2. It will have to grow on me! Still a fan! Can't wait till next week!
Bob
I must say the only thing I have to be disappointed about with this episode is that it's over and I have to wait another week to find out what is going to happen next.. blink.gif Next Monday is too far away...

I missed the beginning about when Claire came back and scared the jock, but I am so lost about the missing brain thing from the first episode. Hiro and Claire are favs for now. Matt is upcoming as third. But seeing the 'doppleganger' aspect of Nikki, I am sticking with the loyal superheroes for now and just watching the dark, sexy side of Larter. But that's just me. I really wanna see more about the pictures Issac is painting and where the visions are coming from, kinda like a commercial cliffhanger. And I so saw the whole car revenge from the moment she asked for a ride. And what did the coroner pull from the back of her head? A chicken leg?
Heroes Fan
I agree with you Viper this was by far the best episode yet! The special effects are awesome I especially liked the scene where Claire is laying on the table and the Life comes back into her and she looks at her chest being wide open and just kind of puts it back together. biggrin.gif

I have to agree with the Poster and disagree with everyone else. It was one of the slower episodes. Little to nothing with matt. Hiro? Ok they gamble and cheat with his ability - it went nowhere too. The Niki scenes to me weren't too interesting. I'm disappointed her power is basically that she has a split personallity *sigh* (I was hoping for a doppleganger, ie she actually became two people). Claire's story is getting more and more interesting, as well as Issac and Peters. Yes, the ending was freaking amazing though - like in episode 2, but overall I think episode 2 was the best.

I'm new here and decided to register today. Silly question, who came up with these acronyms, or did i miss it in one of the episodes?

And about today's episode. I must agree with most of my fellow members. It was the hottest episode thus far. I love this show, and i usually never have time for them. Hiro looked hot, Nikki's strip tease scene was INCREDIBLE lol. As a matter of fact, all of her scenes are incredible. I think I love her! lol.

By the way, HRG is scaring the crap out of me. His look is so sinister... What the hell! Can't wait for the next episode.

You know... I have no idea where these acronyms came from... but from reading these posts sooooo much since the beginning... I've just picked up on them..

The only thing i hate about Heroes .. is that show got me felt in love with mondays again.. But that was the best episode yet... Isaac view of the future (white eyes) and Niki B is cool and i think thats just a teaser of her power... Hiro Rocks... i dont care what the post starter think... but this Ep Kicks ******..
JOE_THE_KING
No. This episode rocked.
trianglman
I too am a bit disappointed in this episode. It just had the feeling like the writers were trying too hard to bring all the characters together. <geek time> Basically like when a GM is getting bored with the exposition and trying to make the characters want to get together and just sort of pushes them together</geek time>

HRG is because IMDB credits him as Horned Rim Glasses.
DarthJeremy
This episode was great and FAR superior to last week's episode. This week we really got to see the characters come into their own, while last week had some really poor writing (i.e. laptop fit etc..)

Yeah and it is in the script when Mohinder says something like 'the man with the horned-rim glasses is chasing me around the world' because he saw the glasses in India and in the taxi cab in New York.

That stuff I remember for HRG... but I'm not sure where the MBG acronym came from other than people referencing here
eatmyjustice
I thought it was a great episode... prob my fav so far!

I felt pretty disappointed.

Probably because we were all promised an amazing cliff hanger ending, and it ended up being a rip off from Terminator.

I really had wished they wouldn't bring another Hiro from another timeline or whatever.

Because really... Wouldn't they all be able to just make 1000 or infinite Hiro's and just slice everything up?

You might want to check that it works for you via this site first - I'm also in Canada and everytime I try to watch a full episode it says "unavailable from your location". The two-minute summaries, on the other hand, come through just fine.

I thought the first 40 minutes of the show were just okay (really a little slow at times). There was some character development but it felt clunky at times.

The last 20 minutes rocked!

Maybe some people liked it so much because the show wasn't as gratuiously violent as past episodes?

I agree. The first part of the show was interesting but it seemed to move very slowly for me. The characters were all being moved into position. But then the last part of the show really just kicked ******

And Future!Hiro made the episode for me. That was really the cherry on the sundae for me.
Hoopla
Definately a mover episode smile.gif

By the way, to the fellow that said Hiro's story didn't go anywhere I beg to differ - he is going to learn the consequences of his actions the hard way I think.
DarthJeremy
Terminator ripoff? Not at all a terminator ripoff. Very cool ending.

And yeah, NBC apparently only has episodes available for people in US
Flubdub
Overall, I thought the episode was fantastic--the best yet--and I can't wait for next week's. This is as excited as I've been about a show in quite awhile, but then, I'm a sucker for a good story about superheroes and supervillains.

That being said, there were some things I didn't like:

1)I'm not sure that it's that much of a rip-off of the Terminator (since I'm not convinced that the future Hiro is from a post-apocalyptic world) but I don't really like the idea of Hiro jumping around in time for everything. I'm hoping they'll nip that idea in the bud quickly because that's a slippery slope. What's to stop him from going back in time to kill Sylar and Mr. Bennet? What would the show be about then, the fight against global warming and boy bands? I know time-travel is part of what Hiro's powers are all about but the writers will have to be very careful letting him use them. I'm interested to see how they deal with the issue.
2)Nathan hooking up with Nikki? It seems that his career means too much to him to give up for a fling. Would he really not figure out that he could be filmed and blackmailed for the affair? He was there, after all, to speak with a man he doesn't even trust. Doesn't Linderman own the Casino too?
3)Speaking of guys letting their hormones get the better of them, would Brody not be in too much shock at Claire's lively appearance to start making out with yet another girl? Yes, he was stunned but for what, 10 minutes? Even if he wasn't the one that dragged her into the river he knew she was hurt when he left her. It just didn't seem to work that well for me and I thought it could have been written better.
Rasputin
I freakin loved this episode, the writing is getting a lot better, no hamfisted product placements and we got to see Niki's other side in full effect. If i was the mafia tough, i would not have fu**ed with her. Plus, pimped out Hiro looked like a bada** (whadya think contacts or surgery to lose the specs, maybe he just didnt want to be confused with HRG)
Anyway, i both love and hate mondays now, I LOOOOOVE the show, but now i have to wait a week for the next episode.
insyted
(Is there a difference in content between Global version as the version aired on NBC?)

As for the episode, each one is better than the previous. This one just seemed to go so fast. I thought it was only half way through, and all of a sudden, it ended.

CLAIRE BELONGS BEHIND BARS!
DarthJeremy
Yeah, I understand the feeling. Much like Lost, each episode just gets going and then it ends. I think its cuz theres so many parallel characters and storylines. But we must be grateful, for these are also the things that make it an intriguing and interesting show.

CLAIRE BELONGS BEHIND BARS!

Why, because some dumb high school jock, who probably feels he is better than everyone else (he is the QB after all) got his just desserts?

Claire is awesome.

Was it just me or did Hiro look like he only had 1 arm?

at the end, his arm looked weird

Personally I liked the pacing from episode 3 better. Last night's episode started a little slow and I got that antsy annoyed feeling when they were doing some of the casino stuff. As for the poker part... Come on, Hiro, the guy is gonna know what he's holding. You two should have stuck with roulette, at least there the chances of getting caught are lessened. Or even go to craps, but poker, come on... You two are getting what you deserved *smirk*
The best part was the very end, and all I can say is WOW!

All it makes me want is for next Monday night to come faster

First - I believe MBG started when someone started a thread naming him "Mysterious Black Guy." Credits, I think, actually list hims as Mysterious Man. Take your pick - some were starting to get offended as to the use of MBlackG..

HRG is also how Tim Kring referred to Mr. Bennett in an interview also.

Back on topic - I have been thinking about this episode a lot, and almost started a thread, before rereading this one. I too am a tad disappointed. Maybe not in the episode, but the writing.

I wonder, are we giving the writers too much credit. I mean, it seems like, as a general concensus (sp?) on the boards we expect great twists. Lots of speculations. And yet, it seems like most times that has been the case, the storyline has resolved itself if the very expected way.

I had some examples in mind when I was thinking about this earlier, but unfortunately it is now 1 AM, and they have slipped my mind. If I think of them, I'll be back.

That said - I totally love the show. Completely addicted.
IslandGirl
It isn't the best episode this season, but I did like it. We finally got to see Ikin and her bad ways in action. Hiro and Ando are so funny together.
Franzinator
I think that it moved slow as well. They are investing way to much time into the vegas stripper and while it got to the point of enjoyable its the worst story line I think. Sucks to be the cop not even in the pilot, then got 5 min then kiddnapped.

But the ending was insane there are so many possibilities with it and could tie everything together pretty darn fast.

I believe it will get better and get a fater pace real soon and I can take the time to know the characters now so that everything will mesh well!
Abraxas
Disappointed for two reasons:

1. Timelines are now mixed up to the point which makes no sense (see my inconsistencies thread in ep 3 discussion about that). Which means, theories which involve the passage of time are of no value whatsoever, on grounds that the writers simply DO NOT CARE about timelines.

2. I think it's now 99% proven in the show that Peter taps/mimics abilities. But why didn't they get a twist out of that? Because almost everyone knows, anyway? I think it would have easily been a twist for 80% of the audience who just watch this show without any discussion about it. They just wasted that.

But there is still a lot more to like, than dislike. Finding out about the online comic and that Brody is still alive, which doesn't make Claire a killer has put my 3rd disappointment at rest it actually transformed this plot element into a well done part of her character development. Ok, first they use the effect to their advantage...and not everyone reads the online comics (I bet a very small amount actually does), so not many people will learn this before the next episode.

My opinions about Hayden Panettiere and Masi Oka keep increasing...they are both versatile actors.
