Did the TV Guide scoop really use MBG for Jimmy Jean-Louis' character? I've seen Mysterious Man somewhere before.

IMDB lists 'Haitian' for MBG. A couple of people have posted him as 'Haitian' or 'the Haitian'. In any event, Haitian/MBG is still not D.L.

Also, others have listed Niki's alternate self as Jessica. Anyone know where that originated from?

This is in the OP as "spoiler" text, I know, very minor. The source is from Greg Beeman's Blog. Greg is one of the directors and co-exectutive producers of Heroes.

I'm wondering if anyone (outside of the writers) knows what this means yet. It's a phrase that future Hiro says to Peter (along with 'save the cheerleader. save the world.') but we weren't given any context.

When I first read it I thought it was referring to that boy band from a few years back... but they were called something else, right?
Um... Hi
BTOWN =/= Backstreet Boys + O-Town
idallia
Just wanted to mention I didn't make up the "btown" acronym, wink.gif but it's been referenced in these threads:

I quit with the horn rimmed glasses crap. His name is Mr. Bennet.

Jessica Jessica Jessica. All those other names are ones we made up, why don't we just call her Jessica. Seriously. It was posted in a non-spoiler blog by the writer. Eff it. Her name is Jessica.

SBAMBG= Super Bad A** Mysterious Black Guy has a much better ring to it
idallia
Alright, so she's now officially "Jessica" that won't stop people from being confused if they happen to read older posts refering to "ikin".
BertX
Nice job! This helps the newbies understand our Hero lingo.

Two others for you to list.

RM = Radioactive Man, Ted Sprague (aka BWM, Boiling Water Man)

RHA = Red Head Agent at FBI headquarters in LA -- just found out today that her character name is Elisa Thayer.

Here's a new one I just ran across, and feel, well, rather dumb...

What is ARG?

I have seen it in reference to the Heroes 360 and stuff.

Here is an example.

ARG=Alternate Reality Game

I have always found this ironic, and I guess I use it. But isn't OWI an oxymoron? I mean, now we've given it initials.

Perhaps we should put LSHAB as a second choice for HRG. (LHSAB= Leave His Shoe Alone Bennet [thanks to this topic: http://www.9thwonders.com/boards/index.php?showtopic=50351])

what's FTW? because the only thing I can think of is from Tupac ( i think) and i doubt anyone would be using that acronym.
idallia
FTW means "for the win". Here are some recent examples of its use...

Hmm.. yeah. The fun I would have if I had her power. Free internet! Need a WiFi for your laptop? Just connect through my brain! Pesky router security blocking your access? Get around it, it's as easy as just thinking past it!
free internets ftw...

Maybe I missed it but when has Peter ever used more then one power at a time? Chalk it up to inexperience, he would lose hands down any time any of the aforementioned supers met up with him.

Supes FTW...I can't believe I just typed FTW

The delightful Mystnmist has agreed to acompany me to the dance, and we're gonna own this thing.

I've been watching Pulp Fiction and stealing moves from Travolta.

Prep time ftw!

When I heard Eccleston was going to be in Heroes, I was both excited (I loved him in Doctor Who!), yet also very much afraid that I'd be distracted by him (because I loved him in Doctor Who!). I should not have doubted. Christopher Eccleston pulled it off absolutely fantastically because now I just LOVE Claude. Invisible man ftw!

FTW=For the win? For the longest time I've been reading it as ____ the world, like "I don't care what anyone thinks this is my opinion" or something like that.

The Organization Without Initials has inititials now. lol

Does meh mean anything? I've seen it a number of times and am clueless about it. It's usually at the end of a post when someone doesn't really come to a certain conclusion about the topic.

Something like "I think so and so could be this or they could be that. So, meh."

My exploding head?
Or is it just a sound, like D'oh

It's just a word of indifference, like vocally shrugging your shoulders. You say it when you don't really care or don't have anything positive to say.

"So do you like Heroes?"
"Meh."
"You are not my friend anymore."
Shizniddle Snap
Meh!

We would also have accepted Bah!

Ok, one other thing that has been bugging me. I have figured out what "shipping" means, but how the heck did the term become a common usage for describing two characters together?

I'm still in the dark on this "shipping" thing... where did it come from and what does it mean exactly?

And I'd hardly call it "common useage" considering I'd never seen it before coming to the 9th Wonders board.
wolfbro
idallia sent me this answer about shipping in a PM:

"The term 'ship or shipping, comes from the word "relationship".

Need a little help here..

I understand that the initials ARG means alternate reality game, but what exactly does that term mean? This is coming from a person who is new to the whole bulletin board thing, is not a gamer, does not IM, essentially a true newbie to this whole scene.

TIA
wolfbro
First off, Welcome to 9th Wonders! Hope you have fun here. I have minimal experience with boards, but I've really enjoyed my time here.

Here's a link that might help with your ARG question:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alternate_Reality_Game

From what I understand, you certainly don't have to follow the ARG to enjoy the show, it just adds to the fun. It's a way for the fans to have some involvement in the show. As far as I can tell, it doesn't have a direct influence to what happens on the show. But if you go to the Heroes Tie-Ins page, you can find links to sign up to various websites. One of them is Primatech Paper (.com, not .org), HRG's company. I've done it, you get emails from them, usually on Mondays.

Hope that was helpful

EDIT: Isn't amazing what can happen in a few months time... You haul off and solve a puzzle in the ARG that was stumping everyone and I've become a moderator. laugh.gif

Woot? anyone?

I also see some posts ending with XD

Little help?
wolfbro
As I understand it, "woot" is just a sound or noise.

As for the XD, it is a variant of an Emoticon:
XD :Laughing hard (often taken as Cartman from the television show South Park)
