I may be wrong, but I thought the cracked glasses were from episode 1. When Mohinder went to his father's house in India to see check it out and put the cracked glasses on the table. When Mohinder heard someone in the house he ran out and left the glasses there. I thought Benette picked up the glasses and has kept them from now on.

I think while talking to the quarterback, Claire's father's glasses were cracked. In the most recent episode we see him change his glasses and pick up the cracked ones.

The crack is small but distinct, on the bottom left corner of the left lense.

Did I just miss how they were cracked? Or is it implying that he was involved in something violent/physical while claire got in the car accident. Any ideas? I think it was close to the time Sylar appeared at the FBI HQ also.

Thoughts?

Those are HRG's glasses. I don't know of anyone who wears glasses to just grab someone else's glasses and wears them. Different prescriptions and all that. Those glasses(eps.1) didn't have a crack in them. HRG got belted by Nathan in the previous episode and that's when his glasses were cracked.

The only previous time they showed the cracked glasses was when he was with the quarterback.

The way he picked them up though... there's definately something significant about them. Either about the glasses themselves, or how they got cracked.
Hippogirl
Yeah, it did seem significant. I don't know what it could mean, though.

maybe he just forgot where he put them and was like, "damn here they are. i wonder when i put them here."
HolyHellraiser
it did seem odd to me how he was looking at his old pair of cracked glasses but what could it possible mean their just glasses right

edit:

maybe he was thinking about the one that got away
FlyingSwami
Was there any point in the show where he was involved in any sort of skuffle that we actually see?

I don't remember any. All I know is that they were cracked after the Sylar incident at the FBI headquarters, when he went to visit his daughter.

I do think there is significance in him just picking up the glasses and looking at them as someone else pointed out. Like he was thinking about what/who caused it.

Agreed it was a reflection on Nathan getting away...
Socrates
I think there is more significance to the cracked glasses than just remembering the "one that got away." I don't think we know how the glasses got cracked and that may be something we get a clue about (or see) later. Maybe he has a split personality much in the same way as Nikki?

i thought the glasses got cracked in the previous episode when nathan took advantage of HRG's ringing cell phone and kicks him in the face.
HolyHellraiser
I Dont remember a cell phone but yeah nathan broke them before he took off

While Mr. Bennet and MBG were taking Nathan to wherever, Mr. Bennet's cellphone rang (his wife calling about Claire) and he dropped his guard to see who was calling. Nathan took the opportunity of distraction to escape their grasp and run.

I was of the opinion that they were Chandra Suresh's. I mean, in the first episode why would Mr. Bennets glasses be just sitting on Suresh's table? He was in another room. On the phone. We've never seen him sans glasses since.

Odd, no?

He picked them up and looked at them after hearing the phrase "save the cheerleader". So, if they got cracked when he was "talking" to the QB, then he was thinking about Claire being in situations that she needed saving from in the past, and probably trying to think of what she might need to be "saved" from in the future. We know he loves his daughter and seems to do anything to protect her, so good or evil he will be a powerful ally for our heroes.

but they didnt get cracked when he was talking to the qb

the sequence of events, leading up to and including the cracked glasses, are as follows:

claire's mom (mrs bennett) calls her husband from her cell phone in the hospital

HRG/bennett is distracted by his phone ringing

nathan takes advantage of this and kicks him in the head/face

then nathan hits MBG before he runs away
FlyingSwami
Thanks for clearing that up Dill0n. I couldn't remember if we saw them being broken. Well I guess that solves that, just him thinking about Nathan after the "save the cheerleader."
