What was up with the cracked pair of glasses he was fiddling with?

Bet it has something to do with Papa Suresh and his death.

there's definitely some significance to the cracked glasses - was trying to remember if we've seen anything in relation to that in previous episodes but couldn't remember anything. maybe it's a future significance, but there's definitely something there...

I think it was Nathan who cracked them in the last episode when he made his initial escape in the parking garage. I seem to remember seeing some comments about it last week. HRG was looking at the glasses and thinking about not letting another hero, aka Isaac, escape him.

I think you're right! I was looking over the show again and I noticed they were cracked when he was threatening the quarterback..

After last weeks show a lot of people on this board were noticing that they were cracked dring the whole show. ( 1.5)
Some people thought it was a prop error by the network.
The minute I saw him looking at the cracked pair while wearing the others in episode 1.6 I thought the writers were almost responding to this board:
" No, it wasn't a prop error."
I think maybe someone said his glasses were cracked BEFORE Nathan escaped in 1.5 , and to me this would be a prop error, because it makes sense that Nathan broke them when he hit HRG so he could run away.
Maybe the cracked glasses allow him to summon and control the Haitian when he wears them? ( kidding. Well, half-kidding.)

I just checked the scene and neither before or after nathan escaped in that scene were they cracked. They were fine when they were walking and were fine after Nathan attacked, ran, and flew away. So maybe something happened that we don't know about yet.

Not likely. I think they would've filmed episode 6 before episode 5 airs.

I just rewatched episode 1.5 when I noticed the cracked glasses thing. They got cracked sometime after HRG talked to Claire in the hospital, but before he talked (threatened?) the quaterback. Perhaps in a missing scene.

The symbolism of when the glasses reappear just when HRG is learning the catch cry "save the cheerleader" is interesting. Lots of symbols and clues in this show.
