I was thinking about this. Obviously Sylar has a sword. Is it the same sword that future Hiro has?

There's no reason to suspect that Sylar has a sword. Keep in mind that Mohinder and Eden found a text book at Sylar's apartment detailing brain removal from a surgical standpoint. If he's going after the brain, for whatever reason you believe, a sword will damage the brain severly and make possible extraction more difficult. Since brains are being removed, I think a sword is an unlikely instrument.

No heads have been chopped off.
They've been cracked open and scooped out.
Huge difference.

You guys are right. How did I miss that? I still want to see a sword fight though.

Sylar is not going to turn out to be Connor Macleod that's for sure!

I wouldn't mind seeing a swordfight myself.

i believe that the reason Hiro from future has a sword is that it's the good weapon to use with his power. It would be hard for him to use a gun - he would have to make sure his "field" covers the bullet, while the sword is close range - he can stop time, slice and dice, get to safe distance and resume time.

hadn't thought of that one...but it makes great sense...not to mention that fact that FH looked hot with it...perhaps I just have a sword fettish I don't know...

Also remember Hiro is Japanese and hence the katana sword. It could also be some family weapon since i'm sure Hiro doesn't own a gun.

The way I read it is that he's so into the superhero universe - moreso than anyone else in the show - that future Hiro might really go for it. A makeover into the really, really cool hero Hiro. Protector of the world while looking the part, you know?
