She is not going to react positively to learning her mind's being read, thats for sure.

Nov 1 2006, 11:04 PM
I see her being phased out, too. Sorry!
But I think she'll freak when she finds he's been "violating" her mind and taking advantage of her thoughts without informing her. She has trust and communications issues? Think of when he finally tells her after not telling her. I'ld be pretty hurt and suspicious, if I were her too.
Plus I have a side wish that Matt and Audrey (FBI gal) develop a stronger relationship as they use his ability on casework and want to see more airtime given to that relationship than his romantic one.
Sorry, he's a nice guy, but wifey is a mess.

Now that she's not whining, crying and pouting, she's a lot more tolerable. I hope she surprises us by believing in Matt when she finds out the truth. It sounds like his jealousy towards her promotion and her lack of understanding simple things like a cop's hours is what the original rift was about. After all, she does want to make the relationship work since she goes to the counseling sessions.
I really don't want to see the whole, soap-opera "you violated my mind" thing. It's been done before. I really hope the writers come up with something new.

I seem to recall one of the early promos showed her thinking, "You're smothering me."
Which is why I think Matt's efforts at winning her over by anticipating her needs thru reading her mind are going to fail.

Okay. So what his co-worker said.. he's really sleeping with her then? Or he just wants to? My sister was talking unnesessarily loud during that so I missed it. I DO know the guy got punched out..
I was kind of hoping she had her own powers she was hiding, but I like the FBI lady much better and think Matt and her should hook up.

thats the way it usually goes they tend to accuse you of cheating if they are its called transposition of guilt. i really hoped they would work it out at first Matt is the every man a litle self absorbed but gernerally a good person, this kinda thing happens so much in real life its hard not to sympathise with him. im not going to tottally paint her as a villan yet, so far we really only have matts side of the story. but im keeping Muggles lease close at hand. as for his "buddy" hope he has powers just so Sylar can eat his brain.. maybe he has the power to completely shut off all common deacensy

We don't actually know what she's hiding, and the guy that Matt punches- I rewind it. He says, "I'll" instead of "I" when talking about sex with Matt's wife. It's possible he finds her attractive and wants to have sex with her, not he has.
I think she's pregnant.

Haha I see you read the Cupcake thread

Yeah I really hope that she gets what she deserves if she is cheating. Then again perhaps shes hiding something else. Maybe she got pregnant and had an abortion and never told him. Could be a lot of diffrent things. Guess we will have to wait and find out.

I dunno but it sounded to me more like that guy just wanted to sleep with Janice. Not sure if they were really having an affair. That part didn't seem too clear to me.
Yeah this part has been bothering me too. I'll check out the recording later if anything.
EDIT:
ACTUALLY, reading the online comic right now confirmed that HE NAILED HER (Quote on quote). I guess that answers everything.

It was confirmed for me when she was thinking about how they "had been so careful" and "Oh God, he knows". Then, when the buddy's thoughts came into play, I didn't blame Matt for punching him out.
Matt deserved better than Janice! I wouldn't mind seeing him hook up with Audrey one bit!

He said (or thought) "I'm nailing your wife".
Don't really think there is a question as to whether or not they were doing it. She confirmed it with her thoughts and he confirmed it with his.
I loved it when Matt punched him out. Scum bag deserved it and I hope Matt just goes home and packs his stuff and gets out of the house containing the cheating shrew of a wife immediately!

That sorta puts his powers out in the open, which could potentially be dangerous, especially in their search for Sylar, and especially from keeping the Haitians mind-wipe failure a secret.
CatNamedRudy
Nov 7 2006, 09:19 AM
It could possibly put his powers out in the open but the dude seemed pretty stunned like he had no clue as to why Matt would punch him. Janice thinks he found out somehow, doesn't know how he found out though.
So far, I think the only one aware of Matt's powers is FBI Lady (can't remember her name) and of course, Matt. (excluding HRG and Haitian Man)

Why? Because she has a chip the size of NYC on her shoulder? Pure flumery I say! Also I will say this... as much as I disagree with the cheating thing and by god I hate the character for that. I wouldent say Matt deserves much of anything either. According to what he and her both said he was a monumental ****** to her for a long time because he was jealous that she got promoted and he kept being left in the dust. Again I dont agree with the cheating, but dont agree that he deserves a break either.
yahtzee
Nov 11 2006, 03:22 PM
I think Matt DOES deserve a break, but OTOH, it's true that Janice is not wholly responsible for the state their marriage is in. Obviously he hadn't behaved well by being mopey and sulky -- but she, too, apparently failed to be understanding when he didn't achieve his life's dreams because of a learning disorder. So they both got here together.
That doesn't justify her cheating, but I'm not willing to say that the cheating makes her automatically a horrible person. I do think it's a serious blow to the marriage, and I am not sure that either Matt or Janice is going to be able to give the commitment it would take to come back.
I'm open to Matt/Audrey, but only way down the line, because it's pretty obvious that Matt still loves Janice deeply; he wouldn't just jump into the next relationship, I think.

Matt's wife is a tramp! I never liked her she seemed so whiny, i actually like the idea of her cheating on him. That means they will probably break up and we won't see much of her! Yay. But then someone looking in on matt's powers will find her and say, "Your husband is specail...blah blah blah...Your husbands a telepath; he can read minds, can you tell me everything and anything about him?" She will betray him in some way or another and it will cause more conflict^^

I don't like Janice at all. I think she is a selfish Lady but the more I try to put myself in her shoes I don't hate her so much for the cheating. It happens. And if you have ever cheated it doesn't mean you are evil or just out to hurt someone. I still hate her though, just because she is a Lady not because she cheated.

But now in "Six Months Earlier" it looks like she is on very happy, sexy terms with him, comforting him about his problems and being a very supportive wife - I think it may be his own insecurities that push her away because it seems like at that point (Six Months Earlier) is when the problems started, and they seem to start with him.
Not that any committed wife should jump to another guy's bed when this sort of trouble comes along, but you saw how comforting she was being and how he still hangs on to his depression and rejects her attempts to help - that hurts a girl and I can see it being the root of their problems.
But wait didn't she say that the affair ended a long time ago? Did she mention exactly how long? Maybe I've got my timing off and the affair did finish before that...someone double-check me on that.

Oh, she totally is! Did you not see the way she was standing? Pregnant women frequently stand tipped, with their hands on their lower back because of the pressure the baby puts on the them. She was totally doing that, and she was noticeably larger looking in all the right places for a baby to be on it's way.

I'm so late to this party, but I'm throwing my 2 cents in anyway.
I don't like Janice and I actually think it's because they've never given us a reason to like her. I think 'Six Months Earlier' was an attempt to gain her some sympathy, but for me it was way too little, too late. I can't believe that all of their marital problems are her fault, because *wow* he should have left like the day after the honeymoon if that's the case. He's got to have some responsibility for it, not that that in any way excuses adultry, but we've never seen or heard anything beyond the fact that she makes more money then he does or is advancing in her career while he is not. I get that that does cause problems, but there has got to be more to it than that if it's caused adultry-type problems. That and, what does she do? Have we ever even seen her out of the house? (backyard does not count)

When I re-watched "Five Years Gone" tonight, I noticed something odd - in the "previously" segments, there was a part where Janice told Matt, "I wish you could see what I see."
I don't remember the original context where she said that (must have been a lot earlier in the season), but in that context, and with the revelation that their kid has powers, it kind of makes me wonder if that was supposed to be a hint. Maybe she's really clairvoyant or something?
Or maybe they just stuck that out-of-context quote in the "previously" to freak people out. I dunno.
