She has been through how many body injuries and she shows little to no sign of pain but says "ow" to being stapled?
parham55
She does show discomfort for all of her injuries. This is a new experience for her so she is used to injuries being something that hurts so her natural reaction to an unexpected injury is ow. When you skinned your knee as a kid you cried, now you don't. Pain is also a reaction to the preceived seriousness of the injury. She is learning that serious injuries to normal people are gone in a matter of seconds for her. I think it wasn't a pain reaction more of a suprised reaction.

perhaps she only said it because it would make her bro think she was normal...but then she pulled the staple out and her cover was subsequently blown...

Maybe it took her by surprise. I've said ow to things that didn't hurt because they surprised me.

Then again maybe she was faking it for her brother.

hmm... but I say ow as a response mostly to things that I think hurt, but don't... such as bumping my head slightly or smacking my hand accidentally against a wall, didn't necessarily hurt... but for some reason ow comes out of my lips!

Well if she does feel the pain, would she really want to put herself through such events as:
- jumping off a 10 story tower?
- getting hit by a car?
-Running a car into a brick wall at 100 mph?

They all sound pretty painful to me, and i wouldnt want to do that stuff if i felt the pain..even if id be fine after
Puck
Furthermore, in the first episode when she is jumping of bridges and such she is walking for quite some time with ribs poking out of her and does not notice...

Yeah, I'm going to go with "doesn't feel too much pain" and the ow was surprise.
rubio64
agreed. i believe that she saying ow was just a reaction as well. she knew she was gonna fall off the bridge and also that the car was goig to hit her. i also remember that when she was on the autopsy table, when she woke up, she didnt really say much just looked down at her torso and winced.
ILoveHiro
Well if you get a stick lodged n your head and die, are you really going to juist say "ow" and being stapeld hurts! Don't ask how I know that dry.gif
nintendo-fanboy
How about when you are getting a shot, as a child, and the doctor doesnt even stick you and your saying "ow, it hurts." Just a reaction of the unexpected.
roxygr1223
maybe it is like, u know how a paper cut KILLS, yet some injuries dont seem to phase you as much?
roxygr1223
burns are the worst ouch!

The answer from the writers (highlight):

QUOTE
Q: So, can Claire feel pain? It looked like she did when she got burned by the hot muffin tray (speaking of hot muffins - how about that Claire? Allright, we'll behave.). What about when she was in the train fire? It didn't seem like she did when she woke up in the morgue, so maybe it's just a heat thing?

A: Claire feels pain, but not the way most of us do.
