Full Version: A Little Less CSI, a Little More Scully

Sorry if this is a little too technical, but they need to do something about the FBI character. I LOVE Clea Duval, but they're giving her such pat dialogue, and it sounds nothing like the smart, calculated delivery we're used to (think Mulder and Scully, etc.).

And didn't she flash some sort of a shield (instead of a badge) at the hospital?

And if she's any sort of expert at piecing things together, why does she think a burn victim has any connection to a bloody murder scene with knives? It doesn't have the hallmark of being the same killer, yet she states, "There's been another murder. It's Sylar." I wouldn't have connected these two...was it the fingerprint?

Someone better start consulting with the FBI and get her better action, it's sort of ruining the show for me (and it's the part I really want to see pick up, her and Matt teaming up).

If you also take what she said before her and mat try to duo "Sylar" at his house, she seems obsessive about catching &/or killing him for some personal reason. Maybe she lost a relative or close personal friend to the real sylar.

But inexplicable murders seem right up Sylar's alley. Freezing a man then removing his brain? Taking his wife and pin her to the stair railing with knives 8 feet off the ground? A man burned to a crisp giving off enough radiation to cook a hot pocket tender flakey crust and all?

I'd jump to that conclusion too, if I was desperate for a connection.

I believe Audrey has made a mistake.

She has said in that no one believes her theory about Sylar because not all of the killings have followed the same M.O. Only some of the incidents have mutilation (brains removed)

Like this episode, she confused the death of the doctor for a Sylar murder because of its strange nature. I think what she is following are deaths caused by more than one super powered killer.

I hope Matt can get her to see she is attributing too many deaths to Sylar, and then they can focus on the right ones and then find the common link ('supers').

That is the only way they are going to get on Sylar's trail.

I agree. I don't like any of her dialog except when they were in the interrogation. It feels like standard CSI, without the proficiency. Because I think Audrey has no clue at all, she's just second-guessing, most likely because it's personal between her and Sylar. She definitely doesn't know what he looks like, but I think she has some connection to him other than him being just a serial killer.

Actually, that head-through-the-wall part makes sense for her character. But the dialog is boring and filled with exposition.

Agreed.

Clea Duval is great, but they don't seem to be using her character well. And when they do, she comes off as weak and unsure...not at all like what I would expect from a fed investigating/trying to catch a serial murderer.

My least favorite character so far. Dialogue is hurting pretty bad .. its pretty obvious that her character is just a device to move the plot and Matt's story forward. I don't expect that she will stick around once the Sylar plot is concluded.

That's my feeling too. She's not much of a character in this piece yet. She just sort of comes in and out of these episodes. Not really steady.

I think she was so desperate to find sylar she'll see him in any bizarre case.

As a fan of The 4400, I kind of got a "Tom Baldwin/Diana Skouris/NTAC" vibe from the interactions between Audrey and Matt. Kind of cool.

I seem to recall that when Matt first read her mind she was thinking "no one believes in me." or something along those lines.

Audrey definitely has something to prove about her competence (something she shares with Matt). Perhaps she was feeling insecure about her work and when Sylar tried to kill her (remember the ep where he makes her point the gun at her own head then Matt intervened), it just made her even more driven to get him.

I thought the weakest part of the ep was Matt and her entering that house alone. That almost made me laugh at the incompetence.

I agree, a little more intelligence and finess would improve the Audrey/Matt part of the investigation.

I like both of the characters though. Audrey needs to be more developed. She can be a really good character, especially with her FBI connections. There could be a really good knowledge base to draw upon and I like that there are non-heroes who interact and know about superpowers.

I think you just gave me a reason to leave that show unchecked...
