anyone got any ideas why all those pics that Matt finds have their faces burnt off? is it just because hes pi**ed at the world?

if you look back to ep3, when Mohinder and Eden go to Sylars apt. Eden spots an opened book with pics off peoples faces cut off. (not chopped skulls with brains missing)

am i reading too much into this? or have we missed something here?

The book Eden looks at is one about brain surgery, not faces cut off.

I wondered about the burnt-out faces, too. No idea how or why Sprague should have done that. Can't make any sense of it, really. Unless he practiced to focus his power on certain spots of certain photos he didn't really like too much. rolleyes.gif

You might have been better off naming this topic properly, because nobody has talked about those photos, yet, I think. Or it's buried somewhere in a Ted thread.

I think Ted is a diversion that they want us to believe is responsible for the Nuke explosion, but it's something else...

Maybe...

A simple explanation would be that he was looking at the pictures of he and his wife before the accident that put her in a coma (for clarity, the pictures were of them before the accident, but he was clearly looking at them after the accident, or in other words, looking at them in recent time). The episode revealed that either he looses control of his powers or that they are activated when he is emotionally charged. If the photographs were indeed of he and his wife, then he could have been doing the stereotypical bit of touching the faces while remembering the times they had, thus getting upset and accidentally burning them.

Good r/l reasoning. I like that.

Yes, Ted could be a red herring, but the question is why would the writers make a point of saying that he'd burnt the faces out of those photos (if I may interperate it that way). smile.gif

That's a really good question. Thanks for bringing that up Agent Orange - I'd totally forgotten about that. Well, from the evidence shown, al I can picture right now is that he's emotionally unstable and could go off on any friends and/or family at any given point. I dunno - I think the burnt out faces are what I'd chalk up as something to sit and watch out for in coming episodes.

All I read into that is that Ted had been sitting in the house, looking through photos while his wife is dying and he can't do anything about it. His power is effected by his emotions, obviously looking through the memories of him and his wife at that time is going to be very emotional. The corners of the photos are burned where he helds them. The faces are burned where he touched them with his finger (tenderly).

I found it very sad, not threatening in the slightest.

(Oops, sorry, BDaedalus already said that...)

What BDaedalus said wink.gif

I could easily see an emotionally distraught man, who blames himself for the condition of his wife, touching the faces on the photos, lovingly, remembering the good times, and because of his powers, they get a little charred.

If I'm not mistaken, his wife was dying of cancer, and considering the guy is radioactive, maybe he caused her cancer, so maybe he is most likely blaming himself for her sickness and death. He was ****** at her oncologist since he said there was nothing more they could do and killed the guy.

Oh. Sorry. I missed the specific reason for her hospitalization. I thought I had caught something about an incident and remembering the day that it happened (specifically, all of the good memories from before whatever happened). But perhaps I incorrectly remembered the dialogue. I have a screenwriting class on Monday nights, so I have to watch the episodes once they are online. I have a poor internet connection at home, so I often have to reload the entire page in the middle of a chapter. So, again, I apologize if I had the wrong thoughts in my head. I will try to review the episode just to see where I went wrong.
