And even assuming Sylar can take others' powers, why should Hiro be able to? Would you know how to do that? I know I wouldn't. We could say that Sylar learned how these powers "work" and how to copy/absorb them from Chandra Suresh's research (I don't believe it but its the only possible explanation that would work) so where does Hiro learn it?

Hey, all I do is provide the theory. Its not my job to fill in the holes. And people don't go from not speaking English to speaking fluent without an accent. My parents moved to US from AUS in their early 20s. They've been here 30+ years and still have an accent. I stand by the theory that Hiro somehow ends up with Charlie's powers.

Some people do and some people don't.

Can't possibly take this any further then.

OK. Most people agree that when Sylar takes peoples' brains, he is also able to take their power. Sylar killed Charlie, the girl that has the ability to learn everything easily. Then Hiro went back to save her. We don't know what happened when Hiro went back, but we do know that Future Hiro speaks fluent English without an accent. Do you see where I'm going with this? I think that Hiro is somehow unable to save Charlie, but rather than let Sylar getting her powers, Hiro gets them. I just hope he doesn't have to eat her brains.

Just because people agree that this is true, doesn't make it so.

As to the rest of your post, no I don't think Hiro does anything to Charlie other than save her/not save her.

I don't subscribe to the "Sylar takes powers" school of thought. I'm not sure we can even say that "most" people do. We've seen nothing to even suggest he can or does do that.

People can learn other languages without super powers.

Future Hiro is from the future. It might be ten years in the future, twenty, who knows. He has plenty of time to learn a new langauge. In fact he has pretty much any amount of time he needs as he "controls" time (bends the space time continuum). He could step out of time with Peter for as many lessons as he needs.

And even assuming Sylar can take others' powers, why should Hiro be able to? Would you know how to do that? I know I wouldn't. Mel Gibson was born and raised in Australia, then moved to the states. Have you heard any accent from him recently?
Ms. Krebstar
It all depends on the person. Some people take to language more than others and become obsessed with perfect pronounciation.

You're not very smart then.

Many people can learn how to lose an accent, and many people can easily gain one if they live somewhere long enough. It doesn't really take long, and it's not impossible. It's not uncommon enough to then think that Hiro gets someone elses power in my opinion.

Good on your parents for hanging on to their Aussie accents - unlike other so called fellow Australians (Mel Gibson, Nicole Kidman, Greg Norman etc) who seem to have lost their accents. Watch some of Mel's early films eg Mad Max for his true accent.

Anyone can who learns a new language doesn't necessarily have to have an accent smile.gif

Truth be told, I didn't know he was born in the US. I knew he was raised to young adulthood in Australia, but I didn't know he was birthed in NY. My apologies. wink.gif

I'm surprised you haven't mentioned Hiro himself.

Masi Oka was born in Tokyo (I believe?) and then went to live in the US. The accent you don't hear with Future Hiro is actually the accent Masi doesn't have...

Good point. I actually thought his japanese accent sounded pretty forced. "FATO FATO!"

Mayor McCheese was born in Australia but he didn't lose his accent. He is just very good at impersonating an American accent just as much as Grimace.
