telly77
i freakin LUVED that..GREATO SCOTT!
H(I)EROJunkie
That my friends was the single greatest Heroes moment thus far. A H(I)eros 'Back to the Future' reference? Classic!
eSJayBee
I loved that part. Hiro is such a geek. tongue.gif
jaysncards
It was the best line of the episode.
Netsfan5
I love the Back to the Future movies. When did he say this? I missed it!
Danube
My wife didn't get it. I had to explain that it came from her favorite movie then she gave a chuckel and said ok. I was laughing so hard at it she thought I was crazy.

Great Scott! is an exclamation of surprise or amazement which was commonly found in superhero comic books and often said by Superman

in this case i think they were refernacing(SP?) BTTF becuase of the time travel.
roxygr1223
ok i didnt hear him say that but a lot of people said great scott after the scene, i was busy laughing at the fact he called himself
5hiro5
Greato Scotto! laugh.gif
There was another Back to the Future reference, i think in the very first episode (may be wrong) about the space-time contiuum. Whatever Hiro said was almost verbatim from BTTF. Then Andos reply- you dont know about any of this.
And now Greato Scotto!
I will LMAO if he ever says "This is Hebby!"
ultrazero
The first truly LOL moment of the series. Awesome.

HA! We had the same experience Danube! I have yet to convince my wife to watch BTTF with me, so I had some explaining to do at my reaction. Thank goodness for Tivo so I could pause and explain.
Faswich
Seems there's at least one person that is confused about why the line Great Scott was awesome, ie the superman reference. The Christopher Lloyd character in Back to the Future said this often, and a big thing in BttF is that the theory that happens when you interact with yourself in the future/past. Hence why he said it after speaking to himself.
Victoria
I loved it when he called himself, that was classic, and then "Great Scott!" just made it even funnier.

Exactly what I thought too, had me on the floor!
Nando
Yeah, he said it when he called Ando and his present self answered the phone.

It was the line that Doc Brown would always say when Marty would begin to tell a story about how continuity was somehow changed by action X, Y or Z.
jozjozjoz
I totally agree! This was an awesome line!

And Hiro totally pulled it off!
FireAndGlass
Yup, I too literally LOLed when I heard this. Funniest thing in the show to date.
Stufsocker
I just about fell off the couch in a fit of giddiness when that happened. With his expression and the way he slammed the phone back down... oh yea. Easily the best line of the night. For being a late addition to the script, Hiro certainly gets the best lines of anyone.

We had a topic early about the time on the painting at homecoming being the same time as the picture of Doc and Marty in the third one. Many people said it was a coincidence but this proves they are doing back to the future things in it.

Great Scott! hahaha great line.

How about the clock (was it at the school) in last week's epi? It looked just like the clock tower in BTTF.
ooops...didn't mean to repeat what you just said!
Jag
I started a thread last week here on the possible connection of the time on the clock in the painting (where Peter gets "killed") and the time on the clock from BTTF 3 picture...

Possible Connection to Back to the Future?

I almost fell off the couch when he said "Great-tu Scott-tu"

It would be great for Thomas Wilson to get a bit part in this. He seems to get small parts in alot of different tv shows. (Thomas Wilson played Biff in BTTF, I've seen his comedy act live. Very funny and a very nice guy)
Daedalus
Thomas Wilson's awesome, yeah.

I wonder if they're using the "ripple effect" time theory, like in Back to the Future (in which the effects of time travel are not immediately apparent...i.e., Marty doesn't immediately vanish from existence, but rather slowly fades).
muhadeeb
Did anyone catch the reflection in the window of the hospital where peter was gazing out to? there seemed to be a reflection of "An Eclipse" there when peter came to console his brother about heidi's back injury.

It looks like the wall light looking like an eclipse.
Shadows
I absolutely burst out laughing.

[i considered it a back to the future reference.]

Great line, I quickly rewound back to that part when I saw it cuz I wasn't sure he actually said it or not XD Hiro rocks.
5hiro5
I remember reading in one of Hiro's blogs one of his things to accomplish was to ride in a Delorean @ 88mph. LOL
" Weight has nothing to do with it..!"
MADCAT
I'm ashamed to admit this but it was my wife that picked up on this well before I did! /hangs head and cries!/ what makes it worse was she saw the eclipse in the hospital window, and she was on the phone when she saw it!
prophet
whats so scary about this Great Scott BTTF reference is that just before the show, we had a thread going this past week about how the clock in Homecoming was a little BTTFish and had nearly the same time on it. Someone in the thread said that it would be funny if someone just said Great Scott like that.

I nearly jumped outta my skin when Hiro said "Great Scott" cause I had just remembered that. Absolutely the coolest and funniest moment ever.
michL87
I'm obsessed with Back to the Future, and was the only one out of my group of friends watching who understood this reference. They all thought it was Star Trek. I was like NOOO it's one of Doc Brown's famous lines from BTTF!

And there is not connection with the clock. The lightning struck the clock tower at 10:04. The homecoming clock said 8 something, I think.
Abraxas
Oh, this was a BttF reference? It has been some time since I watched it...I totally forgot. I thought it was funny, either way. Just the way he says it is enough. laugh.gif
Together with the shot of the clock at Homecoming this is the second reference to BttF, right? I mean, the shot itself, not the time. The shot was pretty similar, the clock was similar as well.
Mercury083
Back to the Future is my favourite movie and I just loved the fact that Hiro said it. I watch the rewinds in the labs at uni and had to stop myself from laughing too loud at it.

In BTTF Part 3 the clock that Doc and Marty get their picture taken next to is set at about 8:10 and the clock in Homecoming was at around the same kind of time that's all.
