Given the little bit that we know about Heidi's injury (something related to the spinal cord), does anyone know whether 10 hours is a reasonable length of time for her to be in surgery? When I watched this episode (on Monday and Friday!), I struggled to decide whether I had heard "ten" or "two" hours. My brain kept trying to say that it was "two hours" for all of the reasons that have been mentioned above--ten just didn't make sense to me. But because so many of you seem to have heard "ten," I guess I'll have to go with that. Did anyone think they may have heard "two hours," or am I just crazy?

As far as distance and the time it took Peter to get to the hospital, remember that we don't know WHERE he went to nursing school (unless I missed that somehow). He could have been quite a long way from NYC.
On the sequence and timing of this event, I've got a couple of questions.
First, do we know who made that call to Peter? If it was Nathan, how and/or from where did he call? When Nathan says in the waiting room that he should call their mother, Peter offers his cell phone, as if Nathan didn't have one on him. (That may mean nothing--just Peter trying to be helpful.) If the call came from someone at the hospital, how did they know to call Peter? And if Nathan told them who to call, why was it Peter that he chose?
If Heidi has really been in surgery for 10 hours, and if the dream was in real time, could it be that Nathan called Peter from the accident site before he even called 911? That would say something really interesting about their relationship.
It also says something interesting about Nathan in particular if it's been 10 hours and he hasn't called his mother. I was fascinated that the reason he gave for WHY he "should call Mom" was "That's what Heidi would do." We already know that Nathan's relationship with his mom is not as close as with his dad, and that Peter is closer to their mother. Still, "I should call Mom. That's what Heidi would do," is an interesting comment!
