NBC apparently has a new catch phrase to replace "Save The Cheerleader."
What do you all think?
"Fallout" was awesome, wasn't it? I love that

This show is unstoppable. I've never seen a show progress this well. Lost continues to confuse. 24 is like drinking 10 red bulls. Smallville is liking watching Green Acres with powers, Buffy and Angel were just plain funny. And Veronica Mars lost its edge.

I like the new "slogan" much better. StC/StW was original, yeah, but to me it felt campy and just plain silly.
"Are you on the list?" not only brings up questions [Who IS on the list? How did they get on there? Does it really matter that they're even on it?] but it is also something that the fans themselves can rally around, and something that theoretically they could ask each other.
"Are you on the list?"
"Hell yeah."

In Fallout Mohinder is on the phone with someone (the police?) and says "I sent you the list. 6 of the people have already died"
So I'm guessing he sent the list that his father came up with to the police, and now the police will track down those people and study them. But only people with obvious dna markers will have been on that list. I don't know if I can wait 6 weeks for another episode!

This first part of the season was great! 6 weeks is a LONG time to wait for a new episode, but the way this show is made (great blogs by Beeman) it makes sense to periodically take significant time off.
Oh by the way, I'm on the list . . .

Beeman's blog is great. I love it. He's got a great sense of humor AND a good writing style. And he's a great director. Smallville doesn't look the same without him.

He mentions sending it to the Quantico office. The FBI has their headquarters in Quantico, Virginia; so it's likely that he sent it to them.

Fallout WAS awesome and Heroes continues to deliver homerun after homerun.
As for new catchphrases, they're great plot and marketing devices (think Serenity/Firefly) as long as the "buzz" isn't overhyped, which STC, STW may have been by now..
I like how they introduced "Are You On The List" in the Ep 12 preview b/c it sets the stage for new heroes to come out of the woodwork, starting from the weekly webcomics during the hiatus - and beyond. It'll also give Mohinder's arc a much needed boost - since all he's done so far is to come full circle, albeit with deeper conviction and THE LIST. I was also happy to hear the Quantico (FBI) reference and see that Matt and Mo meet HRG in the next ep - more intersections! The Plot Thickens!
Huh. I better stop. I'm doing enough speculating as it is on these forums and my own blog. All I'll say is: Heroes rocks my world! Heee...

I wish "Are You On The List" was more like "Who's on the List?" because "Are YOU..." makes it aimed at us and there is no way they can pull a "YOUR ON THE LIST!", if it was "Who's on the List?" people (such as HRG) could say it throughout the show like they say STC/STW.

I can't agree with you more, when I saw the new phrase, I said "now I have to go see if I'm on the list!" But by saying "Who's on the list," it keeps it fictional and I like that.

Yay! Someone agrees with me!

But ya, when I heard it officially used (not the first time on the site... well there too actually!) I thought they were going to post an actual list (not like a word procesisng list but like the one seen on TV). I was hoping they would have random names and locations, then they can at least fool the stupid people into thinking it was an actual list of actual people. But no, the link on the website goes to what? The video of Mohinder finding it... like we didn't already see that before.

So, I'm pretty new to the Heroes bandwagon... and it's officially the best thing that's happened to me in the last few years.
The list that they're talking about... is it a list of ALL the "special" people they have on record... or... is it the list of character that HRG has dubbed "Worthy" of their powers, or maybe the opposite?

- I don't think the cheerleader has been totally saved. Sylar is still after her. She may need saving again.
- "Are You On The List"...not a great attention grabbing phrase.
- the list - I think it's cool that there is someone on the list from Albert Lea Minnesota. Maybe the Heros can go there and visit the
Spam Museum just down the road.

Hi All -
My son is looking for a tee-shirt that says "Are you on the list?"
Any ideas where I could find one? I know I can buy the letters and make it myself, but I really expected to see it available for sale.
Thanks for the help to all who offer assistance.

I like the new catchphrase, if only because the geek in me really wants to be on the list. ;P
I think that saying "Are you on the list?" will help bring in new viewers because of the idea that maybe we can be special too. It also feels like a better fit than "who is", simply because the show is set up to feel like our reality, with extraordinary people thrown in.
All-in-all, I very much can't wait for the hiatus to be over.
P.S. I want a t-shirt too, dcg.

Eh. I kind of like the new saying. It does bring up questions, which would equally cause more people to tune in to find out what those answers are, it's cute and to the point.
But I can't help but miss "Save The Cheerleader". It was something different, and it was focused on one character. Maybe I'm picky. Either works fantastic for the series. It leaves cliff hangers ( because we didn't know if Peter and the others infact did save the cheerleader until the episode was revealed ), and the list brings up more questions then answers.

I like this new phrase a lot. Stc/Stw was alright, but I like how they keep changing them. Makes it interesting. I like how it asks if "You" are on the list? Makes me feel much more involved. It would be so cool if they drew names for people to be on the list.

Good point. Also, are they going to resolve the first catch phrase? Did saving Claire save the world? Or, WILL saving Claire save the world? It is cheesy to have a plot device, heavily promote it, and do almost nothing with it. I guess time will tell.
This newer style of storytelling is good and bad. If you kinda make up the show as you go, only planning several episodes at a time, you gain that fresh holistic feeling like in Battlestar or Alias, but look at the problems. These kinds of shows hit huge lulls, have tons of unresolved issues, and almost make the viewer feel insecure regarding the overall arc. Conversely, a show like B5 was a totally planned arc driven show. It might have seemed over-planned at times, but it was great to see the big picture unravel. That's my take on it.

Dec 16 2006, 08:35 PM
When I first saw the "Are you on the list?" preview, I almost shouted at the television, "Don't try to make me use you're catch phrases!" {I'm not crazy, I swear!

}
But then I thought about it like the titles of the story arcs or mini sagas. And when I did that, I was like, "Oh yeah. The first part of the season is called 'save the cheerleader, save the world' because that was the main story or focus or whatever."
Now I just can't wait for more heroes and more catchphrases!
Rereading this, I can't help but feel like we'll someday say:
"Remember 'save the cheerleader, save the world'?"
"Man, that's so old now."
