Full Version: Superspeed? Loud ominous Ticking?

The Riddler
I've seen arguments that Sylar used superspeed to grab Eden.
I rewatched the scene.
...He used TK to pull her to him. He didn't move foreward at all.

Second:
Loud Ominous Ticking during the Peter NYC scene?
...There is no ticking. There is a door opening and a bike wheel spinning.

Mhm.

It's not "ticking." It's not a door opening. And it's not a bike wheel.

It's the sound of clockworks. Like being inside of a clock tower. The gears "locking" into place as the movement progresses. It's a very distinct sound. And it's definitely heard in the background of Peter's NYC vision. It's unmistakable.

He's still wearing Sylar's watch.

Thus, Peter's vision must have been seeing through the eyes of Sylar and Sylar's future. I mean, look at those clothes Peter was wearing in the vision. He doesn't wear clothes like that, ever, but Sylar would. Sylar must blow up because he can't control so much power and Nathan grabs him up and flies him high into the sky so he can blow up at an altitude that can't harm anyone or anything. Just a speculation.

How many watches does Sylar have? He sure as hell ain't wearing the watch Sylar broke when he killed Suresh. There are pics of peter's watch and Sylarw's broken one and they aren't even the same shape!

So please, tell us what you are talking about.
Snapple-Power
the painting of the bomb to me, shows the bomb blowing up in the water. Nathan flys him over the river, drops him and (whover it is) blows up under water.
Snapple-Power
I am wrong. you DO, hear a few loud ticks in the back ground of peters vision.

Nah! HD viewing shows it as a Nixon watch not a Sylar.

Yeah, but who says Sylar would only wear Sylar watches? As a "timepiece restorer" he dealt with probably hundreds of different watch brands. Is the broken watch Sylar currently wears even proven to be a "Sylar" brand?

And we've got to realize that the creators/writers/etc didn't scrutinize over the brand of the watch, because they've obviously underestimated us. I don't think Peter ever wears a watch, and it seemed like they were really trying to emphasize the watch thing in his dream.
The Riddler
They've show Sylars actual watch more than once as the one he was fixing in "Six Months Ago"
They definatley wouldn't have ignored that.

"OMGzors, Peter isn't wearing the EXACT same watch that Sylar is wearinggggg!111. OMGzz Peter blows up NYC, but liek, disregard the dark trenchcoat and the watch kthx"

Pretend Heroes is a novel. If you read the word "watch" you're going to think of who? Yeah, that's right, Sylar.

Can we all try to start thinking of things in terms of metaphors, simile, symbolism, allegory, etc? Pretty please? I mean, watching a TV show that spells every little thing out for us is no fun.

But how else are we going to fill the next 6 weeks, if we can't dissect every little bit of minutiae in the last episode? Besides, some of us have money riding on it... dry.gif

Yes, but Heroes isn't a novel, it's a television show. It's more visual, therefore something as small as the brand and shape of a watch could be very important.

...Of course, the ticking might also simply represent the fact that he's a bomb...

Doubtful... If anything, it has a double meaning... Writers seem to be big on those nowadays...

But hey, I was right about the Vorlons being angels, so who knows?

Yeah, the watch Sylar wears is a Sylar watch...
See my blog post here:
http://heroespatientzero.blogspot.com/2006...m-week-one.html

Also, Peter wears a watch in many of the episodes and it is always the same Nixon watch. And I don't think TPTB underestimate us at all. Too many of us think we know more than we really do... after all, I don't think anyone on the boards (other than Ollie) work for Tim Kring. So its impossible to predict what direction they are taking or what they are thinking. BTW most TV shows have someone in charge of continuity, which means someone is definitley scrutinizng the different brands of watches.

The writers of MASH must have missed that memo.

There is a ticking sound, but if you watch carefully you'll see that it's from those temporary lane merging arrows they have set up (there has to be a better way of describing these... hopefully you get what I mean).

The first time you hear it is when the lights are in shot - it ticks each time one of the arrows lights up. It continues when the arrows are out of shot, albeit quieter, but later when they show up again the ticking is still in sync with them.

Now obviously there's still some reason that the writers chose to make that sound audible, but it does definitely have a source in the dream.
