I just realized that this section is dedicated to the the first episode, so I'm breaking away from the "Pilot" discussion.
Obviously, there's just 12 days until the pilot aires on NBC.
Does anyone know if it's going to be the shorter or extended version?
I'll be very upset if it's not the extended version

ok..not that upset, but still...

I'd say it'll probably be the 53:40 version, like the iTunes pilot.

I heard some where that the pilot well have limited commercals so I'm thinking that the version from iTunes the 53 minute long episode well be the one shown on TV.
Limited interruptions by Nissan the exclusive sponsor of the pilot episode of Heroes!

Well, it might be like 3-4 commerical breaks that are extended (3 minutes-20 seconds to as long as 4 minutes and 15 seconds) commerical sets!

I watched some version I downloaded which I guess was the pilot, but it had no mention of the cops story. Just curious if tonites show will be the same thing I watched or an extended version or a new episode entirely.

Unless you downloaded it from iTunes, you need to not mention you downloaded the show at all in a public forum; and if it is from iTunes..than, yes it'll be exactly the same...no Matt (the cop) until 1.02..next week's episode!

Matt (who is the cop), D.L., and some bad guy for the season well be introduced in the second episode of the season.

Heroes re-runs (the episodes that plays on that same week's monday) well be on at 8/7pm central on SCI-Fi Friday. I think the Pilot is also on Yahoo! still maybe... and if you look around the forum you maybe can find someone who can give you a code to download the Pilot for FREE on iTunes.

I'm happy that Heroes has finally premiered meaning we get new episodes to talk about every week but I dunno..I understand why the show was edited due to time constraints but the 1st 1/2 pacing seemed to be action, action, action, action. There didn't seem to be any time to catch ones breath. The 2nd half though seemed to slow down enough so that you could digest and savor the scenes and for that I'm happy.
Bring on more Heroes!

I just wanted to find the topic to post how much I think this show rocks.
Is this it, cause from the sound of it, you guys knew about this show a loooooong time ago.
What's up with that? How far behind must I be, Average Joe that I am? It's like this show has some ready-built pre-created fan base, like there's already a bunch of cliques of people that cross post all the time referencing little in jokes of the site.
I really like the show. I'm totally hooked. My life on Mondays is over. I thought I might get in on the ground floor for a change but alas, it is not to be.
*heavy sigh of resignation* If it isn't too much trouble, perhaps someone could fill me in on how far behind I must be.

You can instead breath a sigh of relief, since only the Pilot was screened so far and that was tonight. So you're not behind at all in terms of episodes.
As for fandom, you're not incredibly behind. A big handful of people saw the Pilot (like I did) at Comic-Con, while another heaping dose of persons caught it online this summer. Basically buzz has been starting early Summer. So you're not entirely too far behind.

Actually, I just looked and for me Heroes comes on at 6 PM today (I live in the Central time zone) so it should be on 7 PM for those on the East Coast on the Sci-Fi channel.

And I'll attempt to record it for the third time this week! I've changed brands on the blank DVDs from Memorex to Maxell. I bought a three-pack of Maxell's for less than $3 at Wal-Mart just as a test run. If it succeeds, I'll use Maxell from now on.
I'll be keeping my fingers crossed tonight! And I hope they don't add more commercials or take away the widescreen...

Yep, I'm out here on the West Coast and it's scheduled for 7pm. I'm already watching the reruns of the new Dr. Who (even though I've seen all the episodes, both 1st and 2nd season already). Let's hope 'Heroes' doesn't suffer from the same fate as 'Surface' did last year. I wish they'd just bring Firefly back. How's this for a Friday fantasy lineup?:

Not bad at all. I kinda prefer the Stargates over BSG but it's all good. Anyway, I came here to relay the bad news that the Sci-Fi channel cut out some scenes from the NBC premier. Instead of it being 53 minutes, it was just a little over 42 minutes. I noticed they cut out part of the cab conversation between Peter and Mohinder. Did anyone catch the other scenes cut out?

Yes, I did notice a lot of missing scenes:
1. Nathan talking to Peter about hiring him to help in the campaign.
2. The entire scene where Claire says the prolific line, "I walked through fire and I didn't get burned."
3. All the prologue words at the very beginning of the episode (In recent days...)!
4. Claire asking her adoptive mother about her real parents.
5. Mohinder mapping out where the "Heroes" are around the world.
Although I'm satisfied I got the episode on DVD (finally!), I'm very disappointed that there were five commercial breaks instead of two and the loss of a lot of material. I'm sorry to say the next time this is shown on NBC, it'll probably look like how Sci-Fi showed it tonight. I'm not holding my breath for USA's showing this Monday, either. However, I'm still holding on to one piece of hope. One of my co-workers got the entire 53-minute ep on her TiVo. I hope I can at least beg her if she could do it for me if she hasn't already eliminated it from the TiVo's hard drive...
