Ok so while doing my course and a few english courses before i've been taught to look for symbols and imagery in programs and books. So I thought i'd start a topic on it here. Post your own interpretations or what you notice that has a symbolic meaning.

Like how Peter's clothing is different to his mothers and brothers. His is the clothing of the more casual "common man" the lower, less formal and less well off man. While his mother and brother both dress in suits and formal wear.

Or how the eclipse could symbolise how the heroes are finally coming together and realising who they are, both the light and the good are merging into their destiny. Perhaps it's a symbol of how darkness is overpowering the light or how they both are moving at the same time yet still light encompasses the dark of the moon.

What have you noticed?

Well, like Claire asking Zach wasn't because he wasn't cool and no one would believe him even if he did tell anyone...but, because I saw it as her missing him and wanting to reconnect with her old friend (whom I believe she's in-love with and destined to marry and have children with) and when she says "something like that"..I see it as meaning..you're the only one I can truly trust completely! ohmy.gif
DeathJunior
Yeah something like that, and like maybe how Claires Ring, is a circle, hinting perhaps that she's forever or something. I dunno

Or reaching down the dangerous dark hole of life! tongue.gif

oh yes, I do believe we can expect her to be ripped to shreds again and again and again through this journey

haha...she'll probably go to therapy sometime during the show, because everyone will think she's suicidal.

about the symbolism, I liked how Mohinder compared god to a c**karoach, then when he went to his father's apartment he just stomps on the c**karoach.
DeathJunior
Good Point, but I don't think he was saying God was a c**kroach, he was just saying they're the closest species to god. Still a good find though

I believe that's only a theory...and just because it's the closest species to God, doesn't mean the things don't still scare/disgust you! smile.gif

Didn't he say the cockroach was the evolutionary most successful species? That isn't quite the same as equating it to a divine being...

I believe he did..but, I am not understanding what you are trying to express!? unsure.gif

Just trying to figure out what Mohinder meant. He says two different things: That cockroaches are "the pinnacle of evolution," and that if men used one more percent of their brain power they would "actually be worthy of God's image." Personally, I wouldn't conclude from this that he means cockroaches are closest to God, but I guess that's up to everyone's own interpretation.

I concur with your interpretation. In addition, I've also heard that scorpions would be the survivors of the fittest, too.

I could've sworn he said something like

"If god has created an image of himself. I suggest that god, is a c**kroach"

*everyone laughs while the camera looks at the woman, who looks around at everyone else*

I've not seen the iTunes nor the Yahoo! verison of the Pilot, so I can not confirm nor deny the above. unsure.gif

ah ... I se pearls point of view actually re-watching it. I assumed he meant that the c**kroach was higher than us, but I may have just misinterpreted it.

Actually, Wulfei is right, Mohinder says exactly what he quoted in the itunes version of the pilot. Seems they have tweaked several things. Interesting...

It seems the powers have a connection to the personification of each individual.

The cheerleader, outgoing, assertive, and naturally acrobatic, has the ability to recover from risk-taking physical injury.

The precognitive angusihed artist: "Art Imitates Life"?

The Vegas stripper, the loner victim, finds strength from within.

The overachieving brother can fly?

And the hospital intern brother...well his power is yet to be revealed, but let's just say it's entirely appropriate.
