Some changes are on the way at 9thWonders, and although these changes include my departure as the site moderator, it sounds to me like the fans will be getting the best of all worlds in the end.

It has been an honor for me to have been a part of this site's formation, and I am proud of the fan community that has congregated at the board, but I felt personally that I haven't been able to give this site everything that I could give it, as it is a very different setup than what I have done in the past.

The primary and most popular element of 9thWonders is the fan community/message board aspect, and I would be the first in line to say that I feel I'm not a very good forum moderator at all. My talent and contribution, I feel, lies with the actual "fan site" element of things... posting news and information with big bold headlines and HTML that I can personally control rather than just porting a message board post over, to get people excited about the show, and that sort of thing, while other, more experienced people handle the forum moderation. After all, it's worked for KryptonSite for the past six years, so I must be doing something right there.

I'd like to thank the folks who invited me to be a part of 9thWonders to begin with for this experience, and you can be sure that I'll still be posting around here as a member. Things may not have worked out in the end, but it was flattering and an enjoyable journey to be a part of the beginning of this fan community. I'd also like to point out the fantastic work of the folks at Active Images/Comicraft who have made one of the coolest looking sites I have ever seen. And I'd like to thank you - the readers - for visiting.

Even though I'm leaving, don't get me wrong - I do still love Heroes, and will actually be continuing to profess my love of Heroes by setting up my own, independent Heroes fan site as part of the KryptonSite network of sites.

HeroSite.net isn't as flashy as 9thWonders, is completely unofficial, and likely won't have some of the same creator interaction, but I think (and I hope) that you'd all check it out and let me know what you think. If you liked KryptonSite and the kinds of features that you'd find there, I think you'll love this new site.

Next week, 9thWonders will be evolving a little bit on its own. I hear there will be a team of moderators, which is something I know people have wanted around here. I assume some announcements will be made then, and I will stick around until I know the transition is complete.

Heroes fandom has been a great experience for me thus far. The fans are so creative, putting together great websites, podcasts, Wikis, and more. I think it's a true testament to the continuing quality of the show that it inspires such imagination. I am so thankful to have been a part of the beginning of it, and I am thankful to all of you for sticking around.

Thanks again!

Aw, That sucks that this is your last Soapbox sad.gif , I'll check out HeroSite.net from what I've seen it looks like a good site. (Goes and Puts It In Favorites)

Anyways..See ya around

The Soapbox has been my favorite part of working on 9thWonders. I love just being able to ramble on about the parts of the show I enjoy! I'm going to miss that part too.

Hi everyone,

As you may have noticed my name has suddenly popped up on most of the forums as "Led by: idallia". I hope to be joined by more folks soon, though I don't know who they might be as of yet.

I will be attempting to put a little bit of organization throughout the forums, and you may notice threads being moved about, or merged together as the situation warrants.

PS. Craig, I hope you won't be too busy with KryptonSite and HeroSite to drop back in once in a while. smile.gif

The soapbox is like my favorite thing to read on these forums...I guess I'll stick in the fan creations .. And I did notice your name all over Idallia. Nice to meet you.
CraigB
I promise you all that Idallia has a much better knowledge of the Invision board system than I do smile.gif And I'll definitely be popping by on the boards! Can't wait to see what happens next.

awwwh ...

Don't go.

Won't another herofandom discussion board split the current member poplulation? and/or compete for the newcomers?

ahhh i guess that's american capitalism for ya

What he means is I've read the User Manual. wink.gif It's just a matter of putting the theory into practice right? Watch as I "practice" my "mod power" just as Hiro practices his ability to bend time and space. ohmy.gif

Thanks again for everything, Craig! I've already registered for HeroSite.net and will see you around I'm sure wink.gif. Hmm -- why not continue the soapbox here (as a "featured guest" even when you become just a member like us)? Else, do a similar thing over on your site. I'll chime in whenever I can.

Actually, it's more like consumerism to me -- and the more choices, the better, as long as each site develops its own "niche" or "feel." Many of us probably lurk or post around to source or share info, though we may prefer one board over the others.

I'll check out the new board as well.

I'm like a "never" sort of poster because I tend only to do it if I have something to add to the conversation. But I've gotten great pleasure form the 9th Wonder Boards.

What I want to say is thank you for the time and devotion you've put into it. It's given me many hours of good fun and I've always liked your editorials.

I appreciate you and your efforts.

Best of luck with your future endeavors!

I love the fact that things are being moved around, namely the Elimination Game. Everyone had put it there before me so I had hoped to just put it there too and if it moved, it moved. Now, that and other things moved to General Chatter seem to be at home finally. Thank you for that happily-surprising move.

Craig -- Have always LOVED the KryptonSite .. I signed up for your new

It's been a pleasure reading your soapboxes, and I know that Heroesite is going to be a great place to check out. Thanks for the wonderful job you've done around here. Please don't be a stranger!

Craig - I have loved your soapboxes as well and you have done a great job on the site. We will miss you around here... I am sure that we will all check out your new site!

But I also want to say that I for one and thankful we will be getting mods. One thing that I haven't liked much about this board so far is having to wade through all the duplicate threads, and in the case of the spoiler board, having theories mixed in with the legit spoilers. It realy has been maddening and I am glad it will be cleaned up.
PLAS
so, who's in charge of the soapboxes now?

and yes, I think Craig should be featured guest soapbox writer, I really like his style

but farewell and see you around Craig from Mexico's other #1 Heroes Fan

Craig, I disagree. I liked the forum you ran on here...free flowing ideas and theories and spoilers. True, you had to search for a while to find things, but you picked up 411 along the way. Don't be hard on yourself. having moderators isn't a good thing IMO...the Lost boards burned me out by postings constantly being switched/pinned/closed/locked/shutdown before you could even comment. Lame.

If Herosite.net has the creative flow that you brought to 9th Wonders, then goodbye 9th Wonders and hello HEROSITE!

Talk soon.

This was my first experience posting to any type of fan site. This was in response to my initial reaction to "Heroes". I have since looked at other fan sites, and found 9th Wonders to be different and unique in it's approach to the show and the site. With your leaving I just hope this remains as fun and unique experience as it's been. I know I'll be checking out HeroSite.net. - Thanks Loads

Thanks for your hard work, Craig, and I also hope you will do soapboxes, even if only as a guest. Running a message forum board is hard, and needs a team, just so ppl don't burn out.

As for having more boards, the more the merrier! I lurk on any that I find, and am registered for quite a few. I'll be over to Herosite soon!

And welcome, idallia!
