OKay so I was wondering when did Claire and Zach become friends?

In a later episope Claire calls Zach, 'probably my best friend', to which Zach replies, "I've only been your friend for a couple of weeks".
In another later episode Zach reveils that before that the last time they were friends was in grade 6.

Now back in the first episode, the first time we meet Claire, Zach is videotaping her killing herself, over and over. Not once does it say when they became friends again, or why Claire tells Zach, of all people, her crazy secret, a guy that she hasn't talked to in years and is not in her social circle at all. Maybe thats why, she wanted to tell someone that no-one would believe if he decided to tell.

I've been wondering that, too. All I can figure is that she didn't feel like she could confide in anyone in her social circle because they'd think she was a freak, and she already thought she was a freak and hated it. So maybe she remembered being friendly with Zach once upon a time, and she knew he was an outsider and so would be less likely to judge her.

Zach has a business (or hobby) making Films. (FilmsbyZach was his screen name on Homecomming) Claire ask him to film her. This is when they started to be friends again. In Genesis Claire told Zach that she would talk to him at school in front of people.

Well it says on Zack's myspace...
"I'm friends with this one girl. We go way back. She's probably the coolest person you could ever know. " I'm assuming he's talking about Claire here...so if they go way back, they probably grew up together..

Okay, so this has been answered for the time being, as far as I'm concerned.

In the original cut of the pilot "In His Own Image", Zach asks Claire, "I still can't believe you asked me, we havn't talked since like sixth grade, is it because I'm not popular and no-one will believe me?"

and Claire says "Something like that."

So it's not a full answer but it's as close to one as I can expect from a show like this.
