Full Version: Why couldn't Hiro have told the people about Sylar?
9th Wonders Boards > Episode Discussions > Season One > #10: "Six Months Ago"
Rocky Dragon
Even if Hiro couldn't have waited around and stopped Sylar (I never quite understood why that wasn't possible...he wouldn't have to run into himself, clearly he can exist in the same time as himself or he wouldn't have been able to go back six months...maybe that's just sloppy logic though) couldn't he have told the local sheriff to be on the look out for this guy and the date he'd be there and they could arrest him?

Or at least there'd be a shoot out before he got to Charlie.
She probably wouldn't have died of her brain thing the same day as Sylar showed up.

I doubt Sylar could have fought off a bunch of deputies all shooting at him at the same time and if he kills off a few of them, oh well. As long as Charlie survived.

let's say that they had to save claire to stop sylar.

why not visit gabriel grey and kill him?
amolion
did he know about sylar?

i think it emphasises that hiro cannot change anything..

why give peter a message, why not go back and do it himself?
dcg
Maybe Hiro tried that already and he could never get it to work for the larger picture. We don't know yet how many times he has jumped from one time to another.

I think giving Peter the message started a domino effect that we really won't see the consequences of until Season 2, 3, or 4... or 5.

I suppose he could but Hiro for the most part seems to want to use his powers as delicately as possible for the sake of stability in the timeline, then again, he seemed pretty ecstatic about something as huge as a do-over so who knows.

We're probably not exactly going to be seeing him go back in time and try to stop the kennedy assasination or 9/11 or any other past major event anytime soon, though Hiro will probably start asking himself questions like this about his powers somewhere down the line if Charlie doesn't have him convinced that rewinding is bad mojo.

That line by Hiro was so cheap. There are millions of things he can change, "everything" would have been abit more appropriate choice of words.

'Cause that's not what super heroes do. And Hiro ain't no bad guy.

Well, considering Sylar has killed alot of people (god knows how many) in the Heroes universe, He sure would get the Hero stamp of approval from me for going back in time and killing Gabriel while he was on the can or something of that nature. Saving a ton of families, relationships and lives in general in exchange for one megalomaniac's cursed life doesn't sound like too much to me. It almost sounds like Hiro's civic duty.

Then again, in a twisted way, if it wasn't for Sylar, the events that set the Heroes in motion to save New York and who knows what else in future seasons might have never happened. So depending on how responsible Sylar truly is for the bomb, if he is at all, his survival in the past might actually be necessary.

But in the end, I might not have any idea what I'm really talking about. When it comes to Time Travel and timeline debates I get events all mixed up in my head and tend to fumble over my words abit.

well maybe they need Sylar in the future, even if it's for something small, without him thing might turn out the way they need them to (for example, Sylar might do something nice which helps the good heroes out or soemthing!), therefore he cannot go back in time and kill Sylar becos they need him to do the good act!

I guess it'll be cool to see Sylar do good in the future.
