Full Version: More Connections to Linderman
9th Wonders Boards > Episode Discussions > Season One > #12: "Godsend"
JackalBane
The more the series goes on, more and more connections to Linderman are being made. The dependence on Nathan Petrelli to win the election, the money stolen by Niki/Jessica, the paintings done by Issac and sold by Simone, and now the sword that Hiro is looking for.

With all these connections to Linderman piling up, you've got to ask yourself -- Who is going to play him and when is he going to show up? Sooner or later he has to show up to tie up all these loose ends that we're looking at. I mean, what more can Linderman do to connect with all the heroes before he actually shows up?

OMG...seeing a calmly evil Patrick Stewart playing Linderman? That would beat out even George Takei and Christopher Eccleston as the greatest "Heroes" casting move ever!

Somebody give dcg a writing Emmy!

Linderman seems like a background character for now, kind of like the organization HRG works for. You hear about him, hes referenced often, but you won't actually see him/nothing will come of it until the next season.

I agree it will be an end of season reveal, opening him up to be the next big threat to the heroes. It would be interesting if he WAS the owner of Primatech, but I somehow doubt that. HRG always refers to "they" and "them" and Linderman is very much singular.

But with his control over Nathan, Niki/DL, and most likely Hiro (maybe Hiro's dad has ties to Linderman as well?) he could easily become a very manipulative villain.
AmiLouise
I'm fairly certain we won't actually see Linderman for a while, if at all. I think he'll be like Huggy Bear's contacts on Starsky & Hutch. (Does that dae me or what?) We'll get lots of information from him and about him, but he'll always lurk behind the scenes.

Although I would love to see Patrick Stewart show up somewhere. But he is already quite connected to X-Men, so it might be hard. Who knows?
bozinka
Someone else suggested David Carradine... I don't really care as long as someone plays him, since that would mean we'd get to see him then. Ha ha!

Also, don't forget, there is a Linderman thread under the character forums...

All these Linderman conections, good grief!

i think HRG works for Linderman.

My vote is for Victor Garber for Linderman. wink.gif
I think Linderman is definitely a late season reveal. The heroes will probably deal with his underling who blackmailed Nathan (unless SHE is the real Linderman). Do you think he will give up the sword easily? He gave up the painting to Nathan in a heartbeat, probably because he knew of the connection with his brother. Linderman probably knows a great deal of what is really going on. Will he know Hiro in some way that would persuade him to give up the sword?
Or is Linderman really a good guy too, and we just don't understand his motivations yet?
torourkeus
An update of my previous theory, that Lindenmann is the "Big Bad" of this season with HRG underneith him:

(1.) He is obviously connected to people.
---(a.) He bribed/blackmailed Nathan.
---(b.) He was interested in Issac's painting.
---(c.) He is linked to Niki and D.L. in L.A.
---(d.) He has Hiro's katana.
(2.) This would explain HRG's "neutral good" morality. He may think he's doing good while being manipulated by Lindenmann.
(3.) I think it is unlikely that HRG actually is Lindenmann for the following reasons:
---(a.) Lindenmann lives in Vegas while HRG lives in Texas.
---(b.) Nathan was going to PROSECUTE Lindenmann. It is most likely that he has an idea what Lindenmann looks like, and Nathan also came in direct contact with HRG.
(3.) If HRG is Lindenmann's man on the inside, it would explain why the mysterious person he was on the phone with did not want Sylar to be killed.
(4.) His plans for Nathan:
---(a.) Nathan was the only one allowed to escape.
---(b.) As far as we know, nobody else has been able to use their powers around HRG and the Haitian.
---(c.) It would also explain why he is so willing to pay Nathan $4 Million dollars and why Nathan wins by a landslide.
(5.) There is no evidence thus far that HRG works for the government. In fact more and more the clues seem to indicate that he doesn't. In the web comics he claims to work for a government agency a couple of times but then he disavowels all knowledge when the new hero gets caught in the most recent comics. Other than wearing a suit and carrying around an air of superiority, HRG is just an average tool.
(6.) I find it highly unlikely that Lindenmann is the Petrelli's father.
---(a.) Nathan was going to prosecute Lindenmann, so I assume he knows what he looks like.
---(b.) There are references to "deals" between the two. Hard to have a deal if the two are the same.
(7.) I do think, however, that the Petrelli's father is a hero that will show up.
---(a.) Killed himself because of "delusions of grandier". (Although he may not actually be dead)
---(b.) Dealings with Lindenmann.
---(c.) The fact that 2 kids have powers.

Okay when Hiro looked at the sword and saw Linderman's name the first thought I had was all roads lead to Las Vegas and Linderman. He seems to be behind the scenes on everything but at the same time everyone seems to have gotten themselves involved with him one way or another. The man's a comic book art collector, a guy who owns an ancient japanese sword and has billions but is still miffed when 2 million gets stolen. Is he another Hero? One has to wonder? Does HRG get his funding from Linderman, well the paper company definitely doesn't fund HRG's comings and goings.

Ideas for who plays Linderman:
1. Christopher Walken (the man has played waay to many good and evil charaters)
2. Adrian Paul (old Highlander Fan)
3. Christopher Lambert
4. Sean Connery (not sure on the accent though)

What's wrong with you people?

Peter is Linderman! wink.gif

I'm going to be serious here...

Linderman is probably going to be played by Sean Bean, and maybe he is going to be a character in Heroes, but people mistook that for playing Sylar (as that happened before we knew Sylar was Zachary Qinto) I also think that we're probably going to meet him when Hiro tries to get the sword from him. I doubt he's actually a character we've already seen. Somehow, I think he's got a power of some sort. It beats me what it is, but I think it's probably a power like Eden's...

Oh! I just got another idea; Maybe Linderman keeps control over all those henchmen of his because of the sword Hiro is trying to get! After all, the guy who originally had it on the scroll in the NY museum became a leader...

I am under the impression that during the epilogue when Mohinder was talking in the end, that Hiro was able to get the sword curtesy of Simone pulling some strings. Am I missing something?

the tube that hiro had carried the painting of him and the dragon. a few scenes before that they show simone rolling it up and putting it in there for him.

Seriously, I don't think we're ever going to actually see Linderman. I think he's going to remain a mystery much like "Charlie" of Charlie's Angels.

When Hiro "slowed" time in the museum, they had a shot of a guy looking directly at them through a glass display case, seemed like a pretty long shot of the guy for just an extra... of course it was in slo-mo, but still, could this be Linderman? Anyone else notice this?
bozinka
Um, for the poster earlier...

I wub.gif Christopher Walken... lol. His roles are always awesome!

edited here, because well, my post got garbled, and I can't remember what I said... lol

I kind of wonder if Linderman will be kind of a device. You know, the big bad guy who we never see... kind of like the Cigarette Smoking man, who we never knew his name, Mr. Big, who took all series to find out his real name, Wilson on Home Improvement, who we never saw his face, etc...

I still have a feeling that Linderman is the big bad.
RusanCrosha
I apologize in advance if this has been posted before. It's just an idea I had a short while ago.

Notice how most of the characters in the story have a connection to Linderman.

Nikki/Jessica, D.L., and Micah: D.L. set up a plan to rob Linderman, which was later carried out by Jessica. After the money was returned to him, the middle man implied that D.L. may be called upon in the future to carry out a favor for Linderman to repay the debt of stealing from him.

Hiro: Needs a specific sword to regain his lost abilities. The sword happens to be in the possession of Linderman.

Isaac: Simone states that Linderman tries to buy as many of Isaac's paintings as he can.

Nathan & Peter: Their father was connected to Linderman. In addition, Nathan has borrowed money from Linderman for his campaigning, and bought one of Isaac's paintings from him.

I'm wondering if Linderman will be the force behind uniting all these characters. Everything seems drawn to him. The only characters who don't have any such connection are Matt and Claire, and based on the revelations about Hiro's sword in Godsend, I wouldn't be surprised if something of the sort comes up in the near future for both of them.

Any thoughts?
kryhavoc
I've said it before.

I believe Mr. Linderman is the power behind Mr. HRG Bennett's organization. Mr. Bennet is not the top man if he has orders not to terminate Sylar.
steve2112
It's more than a coincidence that Linderman seems to collect anything that has anything to do with heroes. Yes Isaac's paintings, the Katana.. Heck Nathan was nearly abducted in Linderman's hotel.

I think we all are pretty much sold on the fact that Linderman is bankrolling HRG and calling the shots.
LiL Cyn 09
Linderman seems to have his hand in almost everyones destiny but his role could go either way. He could be the uniting force that brings all the heroes together to reach their true potential and understand the roles; or he could be the ultimate evil that the show is talking about and could be the one responsible for HRG abducting the heroes and trying to destroy them. Lindermans role has not yet been fully explained and im very excited to see what role he plays in this whole thing. All we know so far is that he pretty much controls everything and its only a matter of time before there is a connection found between himself and Matt and Claire.
SacValleyDweller
I'll second all thoughts in the above posts. This linderman fellow makes my head spin wacko.gif . I mean he is a mobster and loanshark, a hotel/casino owner(?), art and artifact collector. We gotta know what this guy looks like!

Heh, Linderman = Professor Xavier + The Kingpin

Watch, we'll get to some turning ponit in the series where they're finally about to reveal Linderman, and then the asian chick who was running his hotel shows up screaming, saying that he was just murdered, and we still don't get to see him. laugh.gif
Cheesemaker
Didn't one of the writers say we'd see Linderman before the end of the season?
Also, I recommend Ed Begley Jr. for Linderman. Because he's the kind of actor Heroes is looking for. Christopher Walken and Sean Bean are too high-profile.
Victor Garber is also good.

he is the secondary cause of the explosion, owner of primatech therefore HRG's wife...

Those I can see happening, but i'd rather not. Linderman is a gangster.. sort of. He's not a nice guy.

I think the people in charge of the org Mr. Bennett is working for are smart people, scientists, or something. Not sure.

So, the Kingpin, in marval comic, did have a team of scientist under him that were trying to do a lot of good things. They just had these special projects that they had to do for him. He also had polititions, lawyers, and gangster.

recently I've been thinking that maybe Simone is Linderman. She has very close connections with him, she knows about the sword. she seemed a little too overexcited in Godsend about Hiro. Don't forget the painting that depicts her as having and evil appearence to her. Even if she isn't Linderman, there is something really odd about her that we aren't seeing.
mundane
I cannot remember a mean picture of her.

For Linderman, the first person to pop into my head was Mr. N. Paul Todd from My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss. Linderman seems to have a bit of a sadistic streak to him.

Then I remembered that in the end of MBFOB the real boss turned out to be a monkey spinning a wheel. That is what I call "destiny."

I think he probably is dead. In the director's blog, he mentions that one of the characters we've previously met has a "minor" power that plays a big role later. I think that might be Peter and Nathan's mom. I think maybe she knows her husband wasn't crazy but possessed powers. For both of their children to have such great powers wouldn't make sense for her to have some kind of power, too?
mundane
So far she has exhibited a great power of kleptomania
JackalBane
So, we finally get to meet him in a future episode and, just like we thought, he knows everything. I knew it! I knew it back in January!
