Doesn't it seem strange that Jessica didn't just rip those guards to pieces like she did with those thugs that came to her garage apartment?
And steel bars wouldn't have been much of a hinderence to her.
I suppose they left her in the jail because the writers want her there, not because she couldn't escape.
This does raise an interesting problem for the prosecution. How can he explain this little woman being strong enough to tear those people apart with her bare hands? I imagine the legal system doesn't yet recognize these super human powers.

maybe because jessica had no time to kill them cause niki regained control. as you saw that jessica and niki were talking and switching back and forth infront of the lawyer that quickly so maybe niki switched to jessica, punched a couple of guards and got ready to kill them when niki came back.

I must say it seems like Niki is gaining more control and more awareness of the things her alter-ego is pulling. So it's possible that Niki snapped in and stopped Jessica from destroying some guards.

I think Jessica now wants to just be like "Guess what Niki, you need to let be in control if you want to live" and have a one-on-one conversation in the padded cell. I think Jessica wanted to make the guards fear her so that after she gets done talking to Niki seriously, she can make the escape easier.

Uh, how about the fact that she is in a prison, and the guards could easily get guns and the place could be surrounded by a swat team to boot once she starts ripping people up? Doesn't it seem strange that you think Jessica is bulletproof!?!
Also, what others have said... Jessica seems to take control for only seconds at a time

Jessica WANTED to be locked up because Nikki was gaining strength.
When they were locked up, once the sedation medicine went in, Nikki was sedated, making it easier for Jessica to come to the surface and gain control!

Because if she had the guards around them might have killed her if she killed one of their own. Or she didn't have a chance like My Powers Are Yet To Be Reveiled said. Or maybe she just wanted to show that she had the ability to take them on if she had too.

Could it be that Jessica wanted the lawyer to witness her "problem" so she could plead multiple personality, and escape the death sentence? Then Jessica cleverly takes over in the asylum, and escapes.

You dont need to be bullet-proof when you can rip a chuck of concrete from the wall and use it as a sheild...

Jessica is a brute and often acts on impulse, but she isn't stupid. It would be foolish to attempt an escape in a prison that has guards swarming eveywhere. Sure, she may take apart her cell and slaughter the nearby guards but you can gurantee such an event would eventually alert the building and she'd be faced with an onslaught of sentries, likely armed with guns, as they seem to be aware of her strength.
