Reading Threads and Posts

- What does HRG (and other acronyms) stand for?
A thread covering acronyms used on 9th Wonders is stickied to the top of the General Discussion forum.

- How do I turn off avatars or signatures?
For those with slow connections or other reasons for turning signatures and other images off, here's how:

1. Log in
2. click on the link "My Controls"
3. click on the link "Board Settings" listed under Options on the left hand menu.
4. The following options are listed under Board Display Settings. Answer No to turn the options off:

Do you wish to view members signatures when reading topics?
Do you wish to view images in posts, such as smilies and posted images?
Do you wish to view members avatars when reading topics?
Do you wish to get a board notification when you get a new personal message?

5. To save, click on the button at the bottom "Change my Account Options".

- Reporting posts
If you come across a thread or post which you feel violates the forum rules please use the button to report it. Include a short note about why you are reporting it.
Please use the Report button to report any spam threads. Do not reply to them!

2. Click on View Member Profile.
3. Click on the Options button.
4. Choose "Ignore User"

Posting

- Is there a "spoiler" code? How you I use it?
Yes, there is a spoiler code. It should be used when discussing spoiler information, including preview clips and interviews/articles, outside the Spoiler Discussion forums. To use, highlight the spoiler text, and choose "Insert Special Item" > Insert: SPOILER. Or surround your spoiler text with the appropriate BBCode:

- How do I change a thread title or description?
If there is a minor typo which you would like to have corrected in a topic title or description, you can ask any moderator to make this change for you. Please send a personal message (PM), do not use the Report post function.
- Deleting posts
If you have accidently double-posted a thread, or reply, and would like the extra post to be removed, PM a moderator.

- What are the max. number of images that can be in a post?
The maximum number of images per post is 5.

- Where did my post go?
If you find a post has "gone missing", you can go into "My Assistant" and look for it by clicking on the "My last 10 posts" link. To find all your posts, copy and past this link, but replace the id at the end with your member number, for example:
http://www.9thwonders.com/boards/index.php...er&mid=9421

The most likely reason that a thread that you started has "disappeared" is because it was merged with an existing thread with a similar topic.

Nope, the reply button next to the quote button. If you mouse over them it explains a bit more. the "quote" is actually for multiquote, so if there are several people you want to reply to at once, you go through and tag all the quote buttons on their posts and then tag the non-balloon reply button. That should quote all the ones you tagged, although I only just realized that was a multiquote button, myself. *hangs head* Haven't paid as much attention to things as I probably should. lol

edit: Hmm... didn't seem to work for me, but I've never understood multiquote on any of the boards I'm on. tongue.gif

edit 2: OK, so it is the balloon reply after all. Odd, that didn't work the first time I tried it. My computer is weird.

For the Quote featured, something I have recently learned.

There are a couple ways to quote other posts in your post. If you only want to quote 1 post, hit the orange reply button, next to the quote button. That will open up a reply window, with the post you wanted, in quote brackets already.

If you wish to quote multiple posts, you can click on +Quote. This will add that post to you quote. You can click on more than one. Then, hit "Reply" balloon. This will open the reply window, with each post you selected, in quote brackets.

I use the 'Fast Reply' often also, when I don't want to quote. The quote button, though, has turned out to be much easier than cut and paste, over and over. biggrin.gif

I'm having an odd issue. I'm not getting any email from this board any more. I used to get quite a few, whenever someone had replied ti a thread I was in, now I get nothing. I'm on yahoo, could someone please assist me? I did originally set for "Daily Email Digest" but after I stopped getting messages for a few days I changed it to "Immediate notification" but I'm still getting nothing and the threads I am subscribed to are quite active.
