Talk about HRG's boss! This character was first introduced in the Heroes online
graphic novel showing Hana's backstory (Wireless - Part #2).

Anyone know how long Eric Roberts is contracted to play the part? - I can see an arc involving him and HRG lasting a while...

I was a little confused by the wikipedia version of Heroes. It says that Thompson is the superior to HRG but not his boss.
So, what about it? Who is he? and Is he really HRG's boss?Or is he HRG's boss but not the company's boss?

I'm going to guess by your username that perhaps you haven't worked in the corporate world (or many businesses). There are many others in my office who outrank me, managers of different teams than my boss, but they aren't my bosses. They can't directly tell me what to do. Perhaps it's similar. There isn't enough evidence to suggest that Thompson is more than an HR type (hiring and 'firing' people from The Company).

I have not worked in businesses, I'm only a teenager >.<
But, this forum topic suggests HRG boss IS Thompson but Heroes Wiki suggests what you are intending to alert to me. I was just making that confusion clear. Or am I becoming in this baffling situation myself?

<-- Masters in Human Resource Managment
Thompson from our best estimates is the person who hired HRG and is the person HRG reports activities to. Thompson as a result likely has to report that information to someone else, the actual "boss".
Thompson would be what we call a unit manager, team leader, or just middle-managment. If 300 people all tried to report directly to the boss the boss would spend all day just trying to piece together all the information, but with unit managers in place the boss receives 3-10 reports each day (one from each manager) and can act more hands-off with the actual agents, giving direction to the managers who trickle it down to the agents. The unit managers are a resource to both the agent and the boss, but one can contest if the unit manager is above the agent in this structure, or meerly just has less "dirty" tasks involved in his job.
Think of it this way, in a workplace the boss has a secretary outside his office who takes messages and communicates them to the boss, she is not above the average worker, but her job description is to collect and cull information for the boss, Thompson is the same way, but instead of a corporate structure it is an agency. Thompson could, by company structure, be equal to HRG, but serve the purpose of reporting to their mutual boss.
...ok end of that rant, now the simple truth, the site is saying that Thompson doesn't run OWI, thus he is not HRG's ultimate boss, but if you think of "the man who HRG has to report to" as boss, then Thompson is HRG's boss, so there!

IGN recently visited the set of "Company Man". While they were their they had the chance to interview Eric Roberts, the actor who plays Thompson. The full article can be seen here:
http://tv.ign.com/articles/768/768595p1.htmlHere is a quote that from that interview that reveals Thompson’s job in the Company.
As to what he could say about his character, Roberts had to dance around a bit, noting, "We even sign things saying we can't talk, because they're adamant [that we keep secrets], but I can tell you guys that I am The Recruiter. I recruit the people with special powers. It's fun, man."

The only thing I have to say about him is that I think he's ugly and a bad actor.

But I suppose it'll be interesting to see how his relations to HRG will evolve.

Ya. He said in an interview that he was more of a recruiter than HRG's actual boss. Of course, unlike a normal coproration his duties extend beyond the workplace and involve manipulation, kidnapping, and brute force, when necessary. HRG is an agent for them, but is also involved in recruiting as he's the one who brought in Matt (and Ted I assume since Ted said he remembered the Haitian).

Yeah, this guy just basically creeped me out. I really hated him. The whole thing with the haitian, "I wanted to hang it on my fridge"... He's mad. I mean mad in the way of insane, mind you. I really don't get what he does- I don't think anyone does at this point. But it's obviously very important. I'm eager to see what it is exactly his job is...

Eric much like his sister Julia always has had a creepy not quite normal vibe about him. This works perfectly for the character.

i could not agree with this quote more , i find eric roberts a poor actor and hopefully he will find good direction in his episodes . the character is a little like hrg himself but he seems more focused on the aspect of control without regard for anyone.

My favorite line of Thompsons is "That was particularly kind of stupid on your part,"

I've never been a fan of Eric Roberts but I really gotta admit, he was born to take this role and hes running with it.
He's done a solid job as the Anti-Bennet so far, really kind of taking all your original fears about HRG and assimilating them into his self.

I really hate Thompson, which means I think Eric Roberts is doing a great job playing an extremely dislikable person. I just want HRG and Mohinder and everybody else he's bossed around to punch his smug face.

Well guess what!
I actually disliked him so much I liked him. He could have had more development if he lingered around a bit more. While I was sad that he got killed off-what, two episodes after he got introduced? Anyway, I was sad. Still...that scene wher HRG killed him was totally badass.

That was a great scene.
What am I thinking now PArkman?
You're last thought.
BANG.
You've got to admit, that's a good scene to go out on.
