It looks like Pasdar is grooming the hair for season 2. I'd guess that we'll find Nathan in a jungle or somewhere far remote from civilization.

You know, you might be right about that. Season 2 is supposed to pick up 4 months after where we left off, so who knows what happened to Nathan in the meantime. Either he's stranded somewhere, or the beard is used to show the passage of time or something like that.

I agree though, he looks MUCH better without it! Looks like he's trying to take over the "Caveman" role...

I cannot find the article, but I read somewhere that AP said his nickname was "Canadrian" because of all the times he has done filming in Canada.
