Okay, I was listening to this strange radio show hosted by George Noory on Monday night. (Here is the link to the show). http://www.coasttocoastam.com/

Anyway, George Takei was a special guest. They mostly talked about his ST days, with some mention of Heroes. He said how to properly pronounce his name. It is Tak-ay, NOT Tak-"eye". Tak-eye means "expensive" in Japanese. Of course, he joked after that, that he wasn't cheap!

He also mentioned how he got the name Sulu in the ST. Apparently, Gene Roddenberry wanted a name that sounded Asian, not just Japanese. He picked Sulu because that was the name of the sea which touches Japan, China AND Korea. Interesting stuff.

Sulu sea is in the Philippines... but still interesting stuff thanks for the link.

Right you are...I may have been confused, lol. But I know he said something about China when he said that.

I heard the show too, and I remember that part about the Sulu sea. I think what he said was Roddenberry chose the name based on that sea because it was touching all of the countries you mentioned.

Meh, maybe George was wrong. Anyway, it was a fun and unexpected interview.

The only reason I know is because I used to leave in the Philippines, otherwise I would have absolutely no clue...

Was surprise to know that the name was base on the actual Sulu sea which is also a province.

Never knew that information will come in handy someday.. LOL

I like Coast to Coast way more then any of those other stations. But Jack FM holds a place in my heart.
