I already have a character in mind but we do need a plot. I suppose it would be post-Angel which would mean there was a huge army sent by the senior partners which, albeit unlikely, was probably soundly defeated by Angel, Gunn, Illyria and Spike. We can go some months off of this and pick what side we are in as the senior partners scramble to regain power now that all members of the Circle of the Black Thorn have been assassinated. You would have to decide whether you a Slayer, a Demon (that includes Vampire), or a Human(or Hybrid of any thing else) and how you fall into this world, will you fight? Will you join the dark side? Will you join Angel Investigations? You decide.

Something I don't think that should be allowed (at least not from the get-go without any real story taking place) is another Vampire with a soul coming up. If a person wants to be good they probably shouldn't choose to be the most populated group of soul less night walkers as a character unless there is a very good back story to why that character has managed to become good even though they still lack a human soul (See:Spike).

Me,FoF and FJ were setting up one on GH a while back, poe. Heck, I still have my chara sheet- it was loosely heroesverse, with powers for the characters. It was really cool, but we never got enough players to make it worth starting.

"It's just getting started."

I'd like to start a sort of "Cops and Robbers" style RPG, set in the Heroes-verse.
Basically, the plot would center around a dangerous gang of empowered thieves committing a string of robberies. A secret quasi-government organization recruits three people to end the gang's spree,
preferably through killing them.
Only three regular posters would be required, but they would need to play dual roles. Ideally, I'd want six regulars. The gang would consist of three PC's, three NPC's, and my leader character.

Well I don't know how good I'd be at GM'ing a RPG, (probably not very considering I struggle just to play them) but I do know that I would LOVE to at least be a part of one that centers around playable canon characters.

There was one in the works a while back that got a few players interested that I was going to do, and then as usual other things came up and I decided against it. There's a few reasons, top 5 being-

1.Canon characters tend to be very powerful- Ted,Hiro,Peter, Sylar being the primary examples. That's why you see GMs playing them, if at all. The lesser powered ones tend to be more...bleh(who wants to play Janice or Nirand?)
2.It requires people to be very faithful to the show and characters, and that takes extremely good writers who are not just good writers but can be trusted not to take the character in different directions than the show would and who know the characters well, can get "into their heads" so to speak.
3.RPs are about creating new stories, new characters. A lot of people prefer it that way.
4.If you have a primary player flake out(your Sylar or your Peter or whatever may be) the game can be crippled, as opposed to something like FoM where a lot of pieces are interchangable, and the story is the showcase.
5.There's no model for a sucessful canon RPG, might be a big part of it.

Not to mention people will fight like mad over their favorite characters...

I'd like to start RPing again... are there any brand new RP's you guys suggest? You *are* the experts at RP ;D

There's an idea I've been thinking about-

Mental States- A group of mental patients, wiped of their memories, are brought into a mysterious, seemingly inescapable place and left to fen for themself. Except the twist is...they are both powered and the man who leads the experiment, Skinner, has...unique plans for the victor and the losers. They are all connected back to an experiment many years ago named "Icarus". Think "Cube" meets "Battle Royale" meets "Identity".

Also, would anyone like to see a game in the heroesverse based on either of the mangas Death Note or Battle Royale?

3rd, you know I am all in for that idea Dezzie, and to all the other ideas here, they look good.

4th..maybe some of us more seasoned RPers can make a RP just for the new kids, to help them get aquianted with general RP style and such?

I think that as far as new people, it shouldn't be a "Kid zone" type thing- I think that we should focus more on limited RPGs, one with concrete story lines and good pay offs- not as open ended, only a few players. Like if the Lost Volumes would be considered War and Peace, the ideal RPG to get in new players would be something like a short and satisfying Chekhov short story.

Yeah, like my cops n' robbers idea! Just simply good guys vs. bad guys, with traitors and alliances.
Or it could be one powered thief, hunted by a few others commissioned by a quasi-government agency. It would be a mystery/actioner, centering around who the thief is, and why and what he's stealing. Ends in a FINAL SHOWDOWN. A simple idea, one that requires very little research or complications, would be best as an intro to newbies.

I see the appeal of your idea in that purpouse, Cheese. I'm still not sure about players- especially new players- playing multiple roles(there's a reason that only 2 players in DR have multiple characters), but it sounds quite good. Might even be something small and fun I could partake in while doing my larger projects. Plus, keep posting in Yaks Of Destiny- gotta have at least one comedy RPG here!

I have to go with Dezzie's opinion on this one Cheese. It would be an easy thing to do, but we need a more storied 'stream-lined' kind of RP. Like a much more simpler DR kind of thing..in a sense. That is what I pictured..what do you all think?

ok guys, heres another couple of Necro's whackbrained schemes that'll prob go nowhere fast..

1. Some of you may remember from the other day how i was talking about an RP idea (Zen, Oly and FJ I'm looking at you). Its called Dangerous Minds. basically it'll start with a bunch of company scientists trying to "create" evolved humans out of nothing. Without giving too much away, let me just say that thats act 1 of a much larger thing.

2. Heroesology. A Pathology/heroes cross-over.

3. A nice little obstacle course for the newbies. PM me if anyone wants to know more.

Hey, I'm new to this site, to sorry if I'm going against normal regulations and such. I'm a mod on an anime site, and we do a lot of RPing there, however, the Heroes RP thread never really took off.. I've just found this today and am bloody well excited!

Secondly: How do I join an RP? And what are people like on joining new RPs? I don't wanna create one and feel like a moron 'cause no-one is gonna join haha.

Thirrrdly: I'm from the UK; most of the people on the anime site I use are american, and it's such a pain when it comes to RPing because of the time difference, if I want to have a good 'session' it ussualy involved me staying up really late and being dead for work/college the next morning. Where are the majority of people on here from?

We're all over the place in time zones here but we've kinda worked it out for posting and all.

Posting a bio in the bio thread is fine. I would also send it too the GM of any of the current games.

The current running games are Conspirecy Theory (run by AnimeGoddess) and Heroes:Fall of Man (run by Inner Demon I think).

I would PM any of them for more info and maybe read a few pages of each to see which better suits your style.

It looked okay to me, when you choose which one you would like to join, I'd create more of a personal history for the character. And you might want to make sure your power isn't god-moddable so one character isn't out doing or taking over the story all the time.

about the character sheet, it all depends on the GM that you'll be working with... some GMs may want a highly detailed sheet, while others may just want the basic layout of your character (hair color/style, eye color(s), height/weight, etc etc)... for what I know of the two active RPG that are going right now, they both only have small character sheets, so you should be okay...

and a heads up, in Fall of Man, i'm hearing that we need a detective type of character for the game... just wanna throw that out there for ya so you know what the GM (Inner-Demon btw) may want from ya in terms of your character... edit: that is, if ya want to join FoM lol...

also, you said that you come from another board, no? I was wondering, do you think it would be okay if you asked some of your people from that site if they wanted to play here as well? just throwing that out there as well just because

Yeah, well I noticed there was a set format for the FoM thread, however I'm happy to adapt it to particular needs. Also, yeah Kane's (my character) power wouldn't be god-like, it's only basic thigs he can manipulate.

Also, I've spoke to Inner-Demon and found out that they only needed the detective character, however, I'm pretty set on using Kane so I'm just going to wait until another starts or something, although I really want to start some Heroes RP soon :-/.

Yeah, I'm from www.animecrave.com, unfortunately I only know 3 people there that like Heroes (which is why the Heroes RP thread wasn't too 'active'). But yeah I'll tell them about this site. I'd tell everyone else, but as you can imagine, everyone there is mainly just focussed on anime .

On the note of people looking for new RPs (I saw the above posts just now, heh), I would like to add that people are more than welcome to check mine out. It's called Silver Thread. It will be starting soon, and we only have four players including myself. It's set in 1912, so anyone who likes history/time period RPs have something to do.

I didn't realize you hadn't started that yet... I was supposed to be joining Heroes and Hellions, but that seems to be defunct already. I think I can handle two RPs with my current schedule.. I'll look over what's posted already and then send you an application.
