I think it usually takes a bit to get those numbers. I'd be surprised if it didn't beat last seasons premiere. No one really knew what it was last season.

Although last season's premiere was far superior, this season's premiere has a lot of built in fans and hype.

Far superior? It's a little early to make that judgment. It's a different plotline with different expectations. Heroes is still far superior to 90% of the programming out there. Let's just enjoy it one episode at a time.

Sorry. I meant that last season's premiere was far superior to this season's premiere.

You are correct that it is too early to judge the entire season.

(Shrug) Actually, I kinda preferred this Season's premiere to last season. But maybe its because I am more used to the characters now. It hard to conclusively judge the merits of both episodes.

Different storylines. Different requirements.

Truth be told, while I am a Heroes fan. I am not a particularly fanatic one. I simply try to enjoy each episode as best I can. "Lost" kinda frustrated me with all their ****** plotting and coincidences. "House" while intriguing leaves me cold (I am not particularly interested in medical dramas). "Battlestar Galactica"...hmm while superior to the 70's version is a little too depressing for me.

"Heroes" attract me because they give ANSWERS! Quickly, without insulting my intelligence too much. I didn't like all the plotlines in Season 1. I am probably one of the few who found Hiro a little ingratiating and the Parkman storyline was a little repetitive. I deeply enjoyed the Peter/Nathan relationship though. The Superpowers in "Unexpected" and the Sylar/Peter fight in "0.7%" though.

As i said before...let's just enjoy it one episode at a time. It's just a TV show, after all.

The overnights are in . Of course, you'll get more accurate results as they sift through all the data.

Chuck led into the second season-premiere of Heroes at an overall second-place 8.8/13 from 9-10 p.m. Comparably, that was nine percent below its series-premiere on Sept. 25, 2006 (9.7/14), but up a considerable 37 percent from Chuck (hence the winner’s listing).

'HEROES' RETURNS AS MONDAY'S #1 SHOW IN ADULTS 18-49
Published: September 25, 2007

SECOND-SEASON DEBUT OF 'HEROES' TOPS ITS YEAR-AGO SERIES PREMIERE BY 10 PERCENT IN 18-49

'CHUCK' OPENS WITH NBC'S TOP MONDAY 8-9 P.M. RATING SINCE APRIL 30

'JOURNEYMAN' OPENS AT #2 IN THE MONDAY 10 P.M. HOUR AND #1 AMONG MEN 18-34

BURBANK, Calif. – September 25, 2007 – The second-season debut of "HEROES" was Monday night's #1 show in primetime's key demographic of adults 18-49, according to preliminary "fast affiliate-based" "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research. In the key 18-49 category, the season debut of "HEROES" jumped 10 percent above the show's series premiere last year on September 25, 2006.

Last night at 9 p.m. ET, "HEROES" (6.5 rating, 15 share in adults 18-49, 14.1 million viewers overall) returned as the night's #1 program in adults 18-49, topping such competition as ABC's season premiere of "Dancing With the Stars," CBS' season premieres of "Two and a Half Men" and "CSI: Miami" and Fox's "Prison Break."

"HEROES" delivered the highest 18-49 rating for any entertainment telecast on any network since the season finale of Fox's "House" on May 29.

"HEROES" won both its half-hours in adults 18-49, topping the final half-hour of "Dancing With the Stars" from 9-9:30 p.m. ET. Among adults 18-34, "HEROES" doubled its closest competition (7.3 vs. a 3.6 for ABC's "Dancing"/"Bachelor" combo). Among men 18-34, "HEROES" tripled its closest competitor (7.8 vs. a 2.5 for CBS's comedies).

This marks the top-scoring episode of "HEROES" in both 18-49 and total viewers since March 5. Versus its year-ago series-debut 18-49 results (a 5.9/14 on September 25, 2006), "HEROES" grew by 10 percent.

At 8 p.m. ET, the series premiere of "Chuck" (3.6/9 in 18-49, 9.3 million viewers overall) scored NBC's highest 18-49 rating in this time period since April 30. Pending updates, "Chuck" ranked #2 in the time period in 18-49 and total viewers and #1 in all key adult male demographics, versus competition that included the season premiere of ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," the season premiere of CBS' "How I Met Your Mother" and the series premiere of "The Big Bang Theory," and Fox's "Prison Break." Versus NBC's average in this time period last May, when the competition also included ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," "Chuck" was up 16 percent in 18-49 (3.6 vs. 3.1).

"Chuck" built by 18 percent in 18-49 rating from its first to its second half-hour (to a 3.9/10 from a 3.3/9).

At 10 p.m. ET, the premiere of "Journeyman" (3.7/9 in 18-49, 9.5 million viewers overall) improved on NBC's performance in this time period for last May's sweep by 37 percent in 18-49 (3.7 vs. 2.7) and by 44 percent in total viewers (9.5 million vs. 6.6 million). Pending updates, "Journeyman" ranked #2 in the hour in adults 18-49 and #1 among men 18-34.

Preliminary 18-49 averages for Monday night are: ABC, 4.7/12; NBC, 4.6/11; CBS, 4.2/10; Fox, 2.7/7; CW, 0.7/2. In overall total viewers, September 24 preliminary results are: ABC, 15.4 million; CBS, 12.2 million; NBC, 11.0 million; Fox, 6.7 million; CW, 1.7 million

In local-market late-night results last night, "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" (4.3 rating, 11 share in metered-market households) defeated CBS' "Late Show with David Letterman" (3.4/9), and ABC's "Nightline" (3.2/8) and "Jimmy Kimmel Live" (1.5/5 with an encore telecast).

At 12:35 a.m. ET, "Late Night with Conan O'Brien" (1.9/7) beat CBS' "Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson" (1.7/6) and the second half of Kimmel.

Note that all national ratings are "live plus same day" unless otherwise indicated. Metered-market household ratings are live only.

Cool! Better than last year! Go Heroes!

Chuck pulled in better ratings than Journeyman? That figures, they spent all the promotional money on that one anyway.

Excuse me while I go throw up in my mouth a lil.

I'm glad to hear Heroes is still doing well!

In all fairness, NBC throwing a show into the 10PM Monday timeslot is like thowing your baby into a spike pit at this point.

It's become a death trap in every sense of the word.

Yay for Heroes! We are taking over the world! XD jk...ish

Good to read about the ratings.

I will say that I don't think this season's premier was 'superior' in any way, just very, very different. Last season's premier (and granted, this is all opinion) was establishing a series, this season, you have an established cast and have one major storyline over while you have the ongoing storyline of the series. I liked it, it was darker and we already knew who everyone was.

But it was way different than I expected.

"Heroes" had a dominant 6.5/15 in 18-49 and 14.1 million viewers overall, which was up from last year's premiere (5.9/14 in 18-49)!

Yay!..off to a great start! wink.gif

NBC is trying a new trick with Heroes' ratings:
QUOTE
For its premiere episode of Heroes, NBC is taking advantage of a new Nielsen rule that lets networks combine the ratings of multiple runs of a show - the original airing and any subsequent airings - and report them as one number.

Monday's episode of Heroes will be repeated Saturday night, and the numbers for both broadcasts will be counted together when Nielsen releases its final numbers for the week, writes Variety.

WOW! Great to hear that Heroes is doing so well! I know at least three people that either watched all the season one episodes online after they aired or got the DVD, so there are probably a couple million people who did that, plus there are the people that just jumped right in (although I'm just assuming that a good few of the new watchers will probably stop watching or see all of season one, since they're probably really confused about what's happening.)

Bull! I couldn't see a single movie this summer with out having to sit through the samedamn boring Journeyman trailer. I hate that show so much because of that. And I was nice enough to leave my TV on while it was airing, it didn't grab my attention even for a moment.

The numbers matched last seasons, yipee! 14.1 million viewers! Too bad they all had to see such a crappy show. Way too many subtitles, we don't watch TV to read and half of the scenes were subtitled. HRG (aka Mr. Bennet/Mr. Butler) wanted Claire to blend in and not stand out in anyway...Too bad the rest of the cast and writers must have listened and followed those instructions because this was really a bland way to start the season. After all the hype they certainly aren't going to be retaining high numbers if this crap keeps up.

And what were they smoking when they decided to give shack up Parkman with Mohinder and little Molly Walker. That is going to be one incredibly annoying story line that someone should have been smart enough to scrap before it even got under way. "Aren't I supposed to eat vegetables?" "That's why I ordered a vegetable pizza." Excuse me while I hurl, it must have been the bad writing I was spoon fed, as opposed to the bad writing I had to read during the rest of the episode.

Truth be told, I actually liked this Season premiere compared to the first one. Nothing Earth shaking, but it was a solid way to start the season.
