i thought the scene where claire lost her car with the weird surfer music and the odd camera angles was very un-heroes...anyone agree?

no, heroes seems to like to denote the place their in with a particular color and musical theme. I read last year on the beeman blog that they would shoot texas in yellows and other places with a particular camera/color/musical pattern. So i guess Cali gets surfer music and that type of shot. It also could be that they use mulitple producers and I think they added a new person so maybe this is his style.

They've said they're not doing the different colours for different places much this year, because it meant that the end of the first series all ended up blue because it was in New York.

well i guess baltar is also right...they are associating cali with surfer stuff

The commentary said that the same music in this scene was used in episode 10 last season. They didn't mention what the scene was they used it in. Episode 10 would have been "Six Months Ago". I don't remember it.

it was very similar to the music in Nothing to Hide, when Claire was chasing Lyle with her tape (then Zach showed up and Lyle hid in the van)

I thought the strangest part non related to camera angles/editing, was the black tears on Maya's eyes when she was seperated from Alejandro.

are you talking about the drums? it sounded a lot like marching band music to me.

Really? I kind of expected that. It reminded me of the "black oil" from the X-Files.

OMG. Thank you! I have been saying that for awhile now, and I was wondering if anyone else had thought of it.

The first thing I said to my mate when i was watching that scene was that it reminded me of the music and camera angles that Tarentino likes to use, especially the music. I had a really weird sort of vertigo feeling watching it and thinking "this seems really out of context" I kind of like it when directors and editors do stuff like this though to keep the audience on their toes, rather than let us fall into it and watch it in neutral mode.
