There was a second view of the painting where there was a close up on the man and claire and there was some white highlight around the man's head and side.

I have a few observations about this painting. First, it looks like Noah is holding something. Wonder what?

Second, and this is probably a coincidence, the positioning of the people in the background looks remarkably similar to the screenshot of Peter and Caitlin kissing. You can see this in the post where the two screenshots appear right next to each other.

Finally, the only way I can make sense of the blood spatters in the background is that Noah is laying in front of a different painting of Claire (?) and the mystery man. Otherwise it makes no sense why the spatters are so close to him but the people appear to be far away. Not sure if that makes sense or not.

He could be holding a corner of a painting in his hand... the blood splatters do look kind of flat, like they are on a wall or something..

Hmm blood splatters, yeah I'm confused by them. But if your theory is correct, it makes sense. He's on the floor in front of another painting and it got splattered. Very cool idea.
