I personally liked Zach more.. he was really nice to Claire no matter what.. West.. is just creepy.

You?
isitmondayyet?
Zach, by a wide margin

Zach had personality

West, so far, has been only a walking, talking "rebel" cliche

West wub.gif
MrsSylar
Zach

cuz West is just plain creepy
YoungSaavik
Zach. Iīm still mad he left the show. He was the one person Claire could trust in, he was nice to her even when she didnīt deserve and, like isitmondayyet? pointed, had personality. He was one of my favorites. =/
PJGroove
Yeah Zach was a bit different and West, well he doesn't appear to do anything or have any friends. Probably cause they all know he's a pervert though.
dcg
If I have to choose right now I would have to say Zach.
I really did like his character and the actor playing him. I'm glad he got another show, but I still want him back (at least occationally)
West is a lone wolf. Not sure about him yet. I'll new some more episodes before I can say.

couldn't agree more. sad.gif
Anakoreta
Split between both really, I liked Zach- but I'm ticked off with his actor leaving.

As for West I like him (O___o) but he hasn't been around long enough to draw any definite conclusions.
lauryn
Oh! I added a poll, i forgot to the first time I did it tongue.gif
roxygr1223
sorry everyone, im diggin west
lauryn
I dunno... after tonight.. I like West a BIT more.. less creepy, more romantic...
poisonedink
I honestly think West was put there by the company to amke friends with Claire, and get her to stop trusting her father, so they she could be captured more easily.

I don't think anything romantic would have happened between Claire and Zach, but he was at the very least a good and loyal friend.

West is evil, I'm betting on it.
isitmondayyet?
yeah, West picked up some style points in "Kindred"
MadameHorn
I love West. And just cuz he might be evil doesn't mean he's any less sexy. Helllooo Sylar? Jk.

But I loved the interaction between him and Claire in Kindred. I'm totally diggin that little mole above his lips. And he's totally replacing Peter for sexy emo kid on the block. ;-)
CrewWolf
Zach. He was kind. West is just pushy.
Candice45
I like West but at the same time I get the feeling there's something sinister there. Especially in that preview where he's telling Claire how she's "Better" than other people because she has powers. That kind of arrogance is what creates Magneto's, Luthors...and SYLAR'S. I'm guessing if West isn't already a bad guy he's gonna end up as one. There's just something...creepy about him. Not just the stalking...it's like there's something behind his eyes.

As for West as a Company Agent...I don't know, would they really trust a teenager with a field assignment?

But yeah, Zach was awesome.
kalysto
I liked Zach, he was a sweet kid. It's a shame he went to another show. The thing with West though, is they wrote him in such a way that is just inherently creepy. If he is a good guy, it's hard to get past the weird crap. I don't hate him on-screen, like other new characters (*soughCaitlin*cough*), he has had some pretty hilarious moments. If he turns out to be a bad guy, I will cheer, because I think he does the creepy thing ok. smile.gif A lot of characters look better in retrospect, I didn't warm to Eden until my second run through Season One, so time will tell.

I voted Zach, btw ! smile.gif
Rabbit
Zach. Another obvious choice.
hulkamania85
Zach. Zach was a little odd, but cool.

West is a little odd, and kind of annoying.
IGotSuperPowers
Zach. He didn't stalk Claire or talk her into doing anything [bad]
redpikachu
Not a fan of West at all. I like to refer to him as "Creepy McStalker".
Sylar1
Zach. smile.gif
Eos
Zach, for sure. West's creepy stalking aside, Zach had much more tact in getting Claire comfortable with her ability. He didn't have to fly around to get her to like him - he simply showed her it was okay to be who she was.

West, on the other hand, publicly humiliates Claire. It was pretty damn rude imo to start suggesting stuff like she was probably mated from a lizard in front of everyone. And then his behavior is suddenly acceptable just because he can fly and that's cool? Sorry. He's not much to look at, either.

Not to mention, West's character seems to go along the lines of thinking people with powers are better than those without - a trait shared by the show's villians. And talking Claire into such a horrible prank was disgusting to me. Whine whine whine, so a mean cheerleader wouldn't let you on the team. How is the logical payback to that having the entire town think she's insane? Granted, 2.07 makes him tolerable, but it doesn't undo all the ridiculous crap he'd done before.

Zach was friggen awsome! I was hoping he had stayed on the show. I wanted his character to be more developed and stay with Claire. I would rather prefer Claire and him to be in a relationship than West.

Even eventually get a power? That'd be cool. Claire has enough fly boys in her life---yes just one;Nathan, or you can even count Peter.
MaggieRyan
As a friend, I definitely prefer Zach. Claire seemed to get along well with him, he was always kind to her, and they connected. Zach also kept her secret, which is incredibly important and makes him a true friend. He had a lot of personality and I liked seeing Zach and Claire together.

But I do like the romance between West and Claire. Pairing her with someone who already has abilities makes more sense, in my opinion, and West does seem to want to protect Claire, no matter the cost.
biggesheroesfan
I wouldn't pick either because West has horrible scripts that he has to follow, and Zach can't act his way out of a box.
MrsPeterpetrelli
Zach Of Course!

West Is A little To Creepy For MY Liking.

He's Very Umm 'Stalkerific'

Why Get Rid Of Zach!

He Was The Best Non Hero Character.

And He Had The Best Jokes. PERIOD<3
jemima
Zach all the way! West is plain scary, and what's with his name? Wouldn't be as popular if you we're called South now would you? Or North-north-east hehe biggrin.gif
Beowulf
Although I didn't have the impression Zach had a crush on Claire, he is way nicer than West ohmy.gif
oliveFoxx
Zach, of course!

He was a great character, nice, interesting, not your everyday's type of guy but someone you take a closer look on an come to like.

West, however, is just annoying. He is so cliche, it's hard to stand - one of those characters, who are designed to be liked, which never works. I hope he won't return for the third season.

according to heroes wiki , he was named for Tim Kring's nephew

he was only signed on to do 11 episodes. so he wont be coming back for season 3
GoldSeven
Oooooh. And here I'd hoped the two "flying men" were named for Nathan West, US Space Marines, of Space: Above and Beyond fame. sad.gif

Hmmm.. Claire goes through male sidekicks much like Peter goes through female ones, eh? biggrin.gif
lastparkman
I actually liked West better. I liked that he was into Claire's powers and wanted her to use them. I hope they don't use his brash use of power to make him a "villain" in the upcoming season. I don't know how his Peter Pan-like ability to fly could readily be exploited for evil.

Besides the guy who played Zach is now busy fighting robots from the future, right?
Gagsy
Miss Zach!

Yeah from the moment Claire nearly got run over by West, I was thinking to myself "Please don't have an ability, please don't befriend her, just be a random extra please!"

Sadly no =(

HE HAS WEIRD EYEBROWS.
Bubpheenam15
UGH! West was SO annoying. Everything he said was SOOOOO cheestastic, and I know that's not exactly his fault, but it's still really hard to see my favorite cheerleader going out with such a little girl. Whiney whiney whiney.

And I REALLY liked Zach. He was so cool and they were so perfectly mismatched. I loved them together, even if they weren't in a romantic relationship (or if they were...hard to tell with those two).
Raekon
Why do you even compare two guys that had a TOTALLY different relationship to claire?

It's like saying to your girlfriend "do you like more me or your brother?" or saying to your boyfriend "do you like me more or your best friend?" dry.gif Nonsense!

Both were ok in my opinion, everyone in its own role.
The one loved her like his best friend/Sister while the other was her boyfriend.
If you go by the understanding and what all happened, West was better for her because he didn't only understood what she is been going through, he had made similar experiences himself.
Things the non-powered zach couldn't understand the same way. Even he was her "best friend" if you could even call him like this.
TheEmpath
I liked both, too... in different ways.

Zach is just a really good friend, and West is just... I don't know, I just like him a lot.
Synch
As a guy... Zach was the more believable friend.

He actually cared about Claire. West was just a creepy emo stalker freak who threw a Lady fest when things didn't go his way.
electric1dude
Zach definitely!
Citizen
Zach.

He was the better friend and did everything for Claire. They both did the same thing though-get Claire to embrace her ability more.

I couldn't have said it better myself. I've rewatched a lot of S2 lately, and West is even creepier this time around.
Bubpheenam15
OH! And, I dunno about you guys, but I personally thought that it was kinda wierd that West didn't seem to have any life or friends besides Claire. I mean at least it looked like Zach had some connections with other people from how he campaigned for Claire for Homecoming Queen.

Oh and West always sounded condescending. /Annoying
Raekon
Zach didn't seemed to have really friends and claire first really appreciated him after she "lost him" (memory wipe) while she did as if she didn't had anything to do with him because he was considered a "loser" in front of others. That's not friendship in my book!
Friends stand for another and are there for each other.

The main problem with West was that his character direction changed in the last minute (scriptwise).
Thats why he was more like a "stalker" in the beginning but turned out to be none at the end.
His teaming with HRG was definately fun so everyone can freely admit it. tongue.gif

Wow. Did you watch S1? At all?

1: The question is which was a better friend to her, not to which she was a better friend.
2: Yes, she spent the first epis barely acknowledging him in front of others. Unless you forgot, that started changing before Homecoming, and changed in a major way during that epi.

Are you trying to offend everyone around these boards with your comments or is it just me?

I know what the question is, the thing is that this question doesn't make any sense when it comes to these two since zach were her friend while west were her boyfriend. There is a difference!

You mean the way he was interested in her ability a lot because it was exciting to him and tried to help her while she were only using him?

She did the same till the end in front of others! Only when others werent there she used him for her purposes and sometimes even managed to say thanks to him.

Yes, he helped her driving with her to meredith and he told her she should go to the homecoming even she wasn't supposed to and then all of sudden dissappeared (Plot hole? poor writing? or did she forgot him again when she reached the building so no one can see them together?).

In my opinion both helped her. Everyone in its own way.
UnfortunateImp
West has over 9000 points when it's about tricking blonde cheerleaders into mindlessly falling in love with you, even if it means the girl standing up to her father who has sworn to protect her no matter what and ultimately leading to the father's "death".

Zach is gay.

So that (what West did) is a good thing in your book?
Comapanyman90
West was lame. His introduction was terrible, as was the way he and Claire were paired together. I mean, he was essentially stalking her from the start and acted like a complete ****** by making her admit that she had an ability. Not to mention, that he essentially played a part in HRG's death. He got Claire to abuse her powers and attracted the attention of Bob and the Company. He even managed to get Claire to turn against HRG with his little sob story. He was just awful.

Zach FTW.

I'm absolutely unsure.
