I think by using the powers he got from Sylar, he was transfered Sylar's maliciousness as well.
It might just be coincidence that Sylar lost his old powers, but maybe (a little farfetched that even I don't really believe it much) Peter absorbed ALL of Sylar's powers?

Umm... the resolution of those paintings and the automatic crop/adjustments work better than my scanner. If anyone has a cellphone with a camera you know that you have to blast the subject with strong light before you have any semblance of a picture. Those pictures he uploaded to HRG's server (or email) were spotless, grainyless, pictures of technological brilliance. If we all had camera phones like that, digital cameras, dslrs, and photo manipulation software would be obsolete.
