She must like stalkers then...
I wish I had a power... it would excuse me to punch her in the face and laugh.

The only thing I have a probelm with is the corney flying scenes. It was just..just too corney. I liked their conversations about who's power was beter though. I think their story line got rushed. Not that I'm complaining. When we have Sylar in some jungle, Peter off with some Irish babe and no memory, Mohinder being..Mohinder..and HRG somehow about to die...I really don't want to be watching Claire having a crush on a boy at school.
Plus, its an interesting arc, the whole your-dad-kidnapped-me-and-tested-me-and-stuff bit that is.

Yeah, it really got rushed. I think they were trying to make us like him because he wants Claire to be who she is, which is what she wants deep down... but at the same time, she's never been anything but dismissive with him, and never showed a remote bit of interest in him until he grabbed her and they flew away. That was just too much. I mean, yay, my boyfriend's a creepy stalker, but he can show me the stratosphere. Plus, I forget who pointed that out, but a fellow board member commented after the very first time we saw West fly, that it's a total Oedipian situation here with her new boyfriend having the same power as her absent dad.
It's all just.........weird.

I think it be corny no matter how it was executed and yes there relationship is very rushed.
As for not liking it, its fine..good to see there is someone Claire can share with since she has no one right now but her parents which is a drag obviously lol.

I'm not diggin' it, especially because there's no way West couldn't have noticed Claire AND her dad right before West nearly hit her with the car. I think he's sketchy.

I think it was too fast, from stalker to maybe-boyfriend. If they had waited an episode or two for it to develop to that extent then I think I'd buy it.
I think the reason why it sort of works now is because they probably both needed someone to identify with, so they probably find the fact that they both have powers really attractive. But I don't think that's good enough reason to start kissing the dude who's been stalking and pestering you for so long.

I think people just didn't read into it enough.
Claire played it off like she didn't want him, and that's what everyone around her saw.
What we, as the audience saw, was that she liked him, but she didn't want to get too close.
So I've been able to accept it. I already knew it would happen.
The flying scene was corny, but the whole, "Claire, shut up." thing was cute. Rather than whisk her away, he should have just kissed her to shut her up or something.

Definite cringe. Maybe it wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been so rushed & West wasn't so sketchy. That awful greenscreen sure didn't help, either.

i think she was quick to fall for him for two reasons:
1.) He flew her around. There's nothing more panty moistening than flying a chick around.
2.) It's the one person in the whole world that she can be herself around, joke with, and be a teenager.

I think its cute. Its about time claire found someone who is special like her... But i tink its kinda weird. Her dad = West because of the whole flying power. Maybe they are half siblings.
But i'm happy for her... :-)

Yes, yes I do mean Electra, but I know that because I've had like 3 classes about psychoanalysis (or whatever the exact work is in English - me is a frenchie) - including feminism and psychoanalysis, where we put major importance in the distinction between the two! So thanks for pointing that out. But I figured not everyone would understand if I wrote that instead.

Yeah, an Electra complex sounds like she is turning into a cool sai-wielding ninja assasin.

I thought they kindof took him out of dark and creepy mode when he delivered the line "Claire, shut up." From that point on he delivered his lines in a completely different way, which made him more believable as her love interest. I just wish they would have done that earlier. Yes, the flying scene was corny, but not quite as corny as "Superman," and really, it was obligatory. I'm fine with it, just as long as they move quickly from "Claire and West in love" to "Claire and HRG having serious conflict over his past while he tries to figure out how not to get killed."

Personally, I never dumb myself down for others. I figure that if people don't understand, then they can ask. Or look it up. And if they don't understand and don't ask or look it up, then more fool them.

No need to get cranky

I personally value very much the outcome of communication, and find that if a message is emitted but not understood, it is pretty pointless... kinda like that message the NASA sent in outer space. I mean seriously. Do you get it? Cause I don't.

I generally like it, except for the scene in the high school class. Reminds me too much of high school. :-)
But I can understand why West's character was stalking Claire -- he is as different as her, and really wanted someone to connect to. He needed someone with a secret, so that his secret could also be protected. He knows Claire will keep his secret, and she knows he'll keep hers.
Whether they do keep each other's secrets is for a future episode, of course. :-)
West also knows that he's in a mysterious weird world, were he can fly, Claire can regenerate, and strange men in horn-rimmed glasses erase his memory. Let's face it, Claire is probably one of the most normal people he can relate to.
Even if they're not "in love," they've connected, which is good. Plus, their connection is driving a wedge between Claire and her father over his past work with OWI, and that ought to be good for a little bit of story advancement.
So, yeah, I like it.

i find it to be a little corny. Of all abilities let's have him fly like.....her biological father. He dosen't remember anything but he remembers a guy with horn rimmed glasses isn't that what the Haitian is for to make you forget. I just think her Arc is really corny right now, hints why throwing a HRG death picture out there to spicing things up. West is cheesy. Oh plus anyone notice the bumper sticker on the jeep in mexico i think someone goes to the same school as Claire and he's briging some guest with him lol.

I'm very "eh" about their relationship. I think Claire had a MUCH better storyline last season because not only was the in the process of discovering "what" she was, but there was imminent danger surrounding her. This season, it's just a stalker love-interest and trying not to stand out. There needs to be more oomph in her story.
And either way, I still don't like West.

Cringe, still. He's a stalker, and I don't like him. Maybe I'm a bad person, when he was talking about the creepy scary guy who looked at him like he was an animal he was hunting (or whatever he said), I was grinning. From ear to ear.

I don't trust him. I don't know why. His origin comic didn't hint at him being anything but genuine, but there's still something about him that I don't like.
And like, right before he picked Claire up and flew off, wasn't she JUST saying that she was in hiding and that she was trying not to stand out? You know what helps with that? NOT picking up teenage girls and ascending into the sky over a high school campus in the middle of broad daylight. Good thinking, West. Way to keep Claire's best interest in mind. *thumbs up*

At first, i was $#^^&% angry at West for acting like a jerk to Claire, upsetting her.. but later on i kinda forgave him, cuz i think he didn't want to be alone with having a ability or maybe someone to talk to.. Claire is that person.. the CHEESY part was the whole flying and Claire laughing etc.. omg i backed up a little so that i wouldn't ROFL

oh well,, moving on

West just seems to give off this "evil" vibe. Until proven otherwise, I won't enjoy his annoying stalker habits. I don't see how people can honestly think that it's not 100% creepy...
Teenage boy stalking teenage girl = Creep(y). Last time I checked anyway.

Its a typical teen drama story, and seeing as its the only one in the show i think it works.
So far i like the character of West, though i get creeped out every time i remember the guy whos playing him is older than me (or David Anders for that sake).
And i thought it was obvious from the moment they met, that West and Claire was attracted to eachother.
I always figured thats one of the reasons West stalked her.
So put me down as waiting with interest in seeing how the story unfolds.
I think a big problem with the West character is that they cast a 27 y.o. guy to play the role. While Nicholas D'Agosto does look young, he really doesn't act like a high schooler. If they cast someone who really was 17 or 18 I think the character would be more convincing. Someone who really was young could give more of an eager puppy feel to the West character. That's what I think the writers are going for, but D'Agosto can't pull it off. In general Heroes is superbly cast, but this West story line really suffers from bad casting.

I didnt like it. He has stalker-vibe for me now, and they havent undone that. By making her just go "wow he has powers so I can just kiss him" it makes me think she is emotionally weak. (Her awesomeness in the past aside). So, I guess for me it doesnt work. I'm going to assume its bad storytelling or characterization, but its minor.

He's 27? He looks so young. I totally thought he was the same age as Hayden.
I felt relieved that West was finally able to connect with Claire.
The only thing that made me uncomfortable was when West said, "Shut up." That startled me, then I saw how it snapped Claire into the present. It stopped her from spiraling into fear and panic. I'm happy he didn't kiss her immediately after that. Claire was at a weak moment. West took advantage of that in a good way, by showing her she's not alone with her powers.
The classroom scene was scarily realistic with West pushing the subject of lizard girl. It totally seemed like something that would happen in high school.
Back in high school, I remember a student got very upset in French class. The teacher just wouldn't let up on her and she ran out of the class. I followed her out and talked her through it. No one was around. All the teachers and students were in their classrooms. Hypothetically, if West did fly away with Claire, I doubt anyone would be around to notice. Even at lunch time at my high school there were stairwells and places that rarely had foot traffic.
