These 2 were ( respectively) the MAIN MEN for MArvel and D.C. comics for years.
They pretty much invented superheroes if you ask me, and I thought putting them/their name in the show was a fitting and respectful tribute by the writers.
Well, besides those 2, the only other comic book company man who I know by name is Todd McFarlane.
Sorry I don't have a screen cap , but in the lower left of a scene I think in Ireland... the name McFarland shows up prominantly on a sign for a few seconds.
He started as a groundbreaking artist for Spiderman, and is famous for Spawn too.
Other board members probably know more, but I thought it was a cool hero > comic book tie in.
It may have been accidental, but I DOUBT IT...

Considering they didn't change the spelling of the name Kirby (who was referenced by name only) I doubt that they would reference another comic book artist by name only and then misspell his name. McFarlane is not the same as McFarland. Close, not the same.

Honestly, the spelling error is probably mine.

Someone check the episode - it may have been McfarlanD in the episode . I just typed it wrong in my post...

Or it was different in the episode too and I am wrong about the tip of the hat to Todd.
