First, I've always loved Monica, from the moment I heard her character existed, and boy, am I satisfied? Why didn't we intro this character earlier? She's AWESOME!

I like the typical mixed one-parent black family vibe, Damon sounds just like some of the kids I take care of, and Micah acts just like some of the others. I admit, some of the acting was strained and Nichelle Nichols may be a legend, but she's not any better of an actor than her Star Trek compatriots and I don't think Heroes gave her the right role... sarcastic grandma is a bit to sharp for her.

But regardless, she pulled that madness off with ONE TV wrestling move, once she watches a Martial Arts movie, I think we can pretty much call it a day.





Oh, and, did I forget to say, that she's extremely hot. More please.

I really liked Monica's character in this episode. She seems like a pretty good person and her power is awesome! Being able to duplicate what she sees. Like Taskmaster from Marvel comics. She pwned!

I wonder can she just duplicate physical actions she see's or anything she see's like powers..hmmm. I doubt she could duplicate powers but that be interesting course people hate that probably lol.

I enjoy Monica very, very much, and look forword to seeing more of her in the future. And to think I was all worried about new characters!

I'm wondering the extent of her power though... can she only mimick physical actions? Or can she possibly mimic the powers of others like Peter? Or like how Sylar steals powers by "reading" the brains or whatever he does?

Because if she can mimic physical actions, that might include some other heroes powers... she obviously can mimic physical strength and physical ability, or else she wouldn't have done that.

I like how her and Micah's powers are related in that they both just "know" how to do something... him being technical and her being, apparently, physical.

Also, it was hella cute how Micah tried to heal her when they hugged.

I like Monica allot, but as someone who lives in New Orleans and lived in New Orleans during Katrina. It is starting to get very annoying at how they are over dramatizing it. For one thing People in New Orleans live in Parishes not Counties. And New Orleans jobs are insanely easy to find right now so if she did get fired a good worker like her would be picked up right away.

She's got sass. I like her Dana's acting wasn't the greatest, but good character.

When do we hear "I know kung fu" Lol.

Monica's so cool! Usually I usually don't like girl characters for some reason...I mean I root for them and everything but if they died I would be like "meh". Monica grew on me in the first episode, she's probally the best new character they introduced so far.

I love that power, and I want to see her do some nods to some of the classic violent movies (enter the dragon, Rocky, Kill Bill, ect) with some crazy FX mimicry. I so want her to be like "Man, you come right out of a comic book" before beating a purse snatcher or somthing. maybe box with a street thug or somthing. Lets see some more azzwhuppery!

Another cool thing is: Monica has a UNIFORM...

That means that, like Claire and Future Hiro, if you dress up as her, you might find someone who will actually recognize over the course of a Halloween weekend.

Once she figures out what her power is, she have a really great movie weekend:
Enter the Dragon, Rumble in the Bronx, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Fist of Legend. I wouldn't imagine losing any fights too soon.
After that, a nice racing documentary, some military training videos and, honestly, a Iron Chef, cuz what's life if you can't eat good, eh?
Spend the afternoon shadowing an ER doctor, come back home to watch Pimp my Ride reruns and COPS with Damon, and then watch a concert by my favorite band as I fall asleep.
Catch a nap, and wake up to watch the Crocodile Hunter DVD set, The Best of The X-Games and whatever video they give people who are learning to fly airplanes. Spend the rest of the night watching All my favorite dance movies and go to work the next morning... flipping burgers.

I think you have all the bases covered Justin! Her ability is similiar to Charlie's, but more physical than mental. I would totally be watching all those kung fu movies! And maybe some "How'd they do that?", cooking shows, and dancing. She could do anything! AWESOME! She has a ton of potential, and I hope they really let her explore it on the show. We really need to see someone kick butt for good!

I really like this character too. I also like the beat they play when her powers are at work. It will be interesting to see how her story fits in with the rest, because right now she's pretty far removed from the main characters besides Nicki, who's been mostly MIA this season so far.

I wasn't too sure where they were going to go with Monica learning things from TV, and how they'd be able to explain it. But maybe it's like Charlie's fast learner thing. Now that you mention martial arts movies, there really is a lot of potential with this character.

Plus I never thought I'd see a 619 on Heroes!

But if her power is indeed being able to remember and instantly duplicate any physical action that she sees once, then wouldn't that be not really a power in the heroes universe? Because if I recall, i think there are people out there (in the real world) who could really do what her supposed power is. Instantly duplicating an action by seeing it only once. So what's up with that?


oh and about the martial arts thing, it's kinda like the matrix movie, no? Instant Master of the Martial Arts.

I freaking love Monica Dawson! Best. Character. Ever. Mmk. Maybe not. But I'm bias on the fact alone that the character incorporated professional wrestling with their power. Representing Rey Mysterio Jr.'s "619" my hometown, come on. How could I not be.

She has the ability to mirror any physical motion just after witnessing it.

She could be a skateboard legend just from watching one skate video.

Now if only she saw Batista doing the Batista Bomb instead of Rey Mysterio's 619.

I like her, too. Her power's cool, the character is interesting...plus she's, in my opinion, the hottest one on the show.

Hahah I'm pretty much on the same boat as everyone else here. When they revealed that she could mimic things she saw on television, I was like YES! I think her powers are SUPER interesting with tons of potential. I'm really hoping they incorporate some kind of martial arts into the show.

Does anyone know if the actress who plays Monica knows martial arts? If not, I hope she's been trained since she was hired!

OH! And I'm super happy they finally have a college-aged person on the show.

I would think that maybe watching some freerunning videos could help her out if she ever needs to chase a enemy down or get out of a fight that is over her head. Though she can copy martial arts she can still be killed by a gun wielding villain.

I saw her in a few teenager movies but never in anything action based so far.
Not sure if the series called "the nine" she was in was action based since it never came on TV here in Germany but even if not, I'm sure that she will be taking lots of training so she can do those scenes.

Anyway, I like the actress, I'm happy she is in the show and I like her character and her power already.

So I hope they won't get her killed in no time like they do with other characters.

Peter just needs to be in the vicinity of the person and connect using his Empathy power. He can't copy powers from on TV, but he doesn't have to see the person either.

Monica has to see the move done to do it, but she can copy it from TV, looking through binoculars... heck, she might even be able to get it from a really good instructional book.

As a side note: Did anyone get why Micah had his hand on her like that and the camera kept focusing on it?

I think they were just trying to show Micah trying to 'fix' her like she was a machine. Like he was trying to use his powers on her to make her happy.

Which, on a slightly OT note, was the most frakking adorable scene of the episode, bar none. I love Micah more every week he's on.

Her power is really NOT that awesome.
Look, she can duplicate the MOVES. But not the strenght.
Like, the robber wasn't knocked up, he left the place just after.
So sh won't be able to fight really strong, she won't fly, etc.
Poor ability, likeable character though.

I love this character. Like others, I haven't really cared for the new people this season, they're alright, but I'm waiting for them to get real interesting, but Monica, I like her from the get-go. So positive and determined, although she reminded me of Gabriel a bit. Knowing she's somehpw special, meant for great things and is disappointed that 'normal' is her alright.
