Worst Bluescreen Ever!

Thats all I have to say.

Would be nice to have a where/when...

My friend pointed out the Ukraine backround was iffy, I hadn't been paying attention. We are going to have to give them some leeway with stuff like this. They have the show where the characters are..but we are spread in so many countries, it just gets too hard to find locations that are in the area and will fit.

I was waiting for this topic. They're referring to the Odessa scene with Noah and the Haitian. I personally thought it was done well, although I could tell it was green screened. It had a Sin City sort of vibe to it, minus the black and white of course.

Im sorry, I really thought it would be obvious. It was so bad I literally had a knee-jerk reaction.

It was HRG and the Haitian in "Odessa."

Sad, because the Vegas stuff in season one was great bluescreen. But it probably is a lot more expensive to go shoot "plates" in Odessa, Ukraine

I just thought it was really hideous looking.

And I know its the screen is green. Im kickin' it old school, yo!
Dr. Chaos
Hey man, it's either that or it's a decorated back alley starbucks.

I choose the bluescreen. wink.gif

Can't always do it all, unfortunately.

True. I figured thats how they would do "Odessa." It was mainly that first master shot. Proportions seemed weird.

Two following shots looked much better.

I'm not sure how close to the deadline they work, but the Odessa sequences might not be 100% finished yet. That's what I thought, anyway.

LOL @ Greenscreen

What was up with that greenscreen? It looked like it was done on an $8 budget. The stock footage they used couldn't have
been any lower quality.

I just had a post on this, which I think was deleted. Can anyone tell me why?

You mean the scene with HRG and Haitian in Russia? LOL .. yeah I thought it looked pretty bad from the previews the week before! laugh.gif

In the previews the shots were different. It looked awful in the previews. It was acceptable enough on the actual show.
Kuroshi
Obvious green screen was obvious.

Oh welll, it got the job done and wasn't too bad in the ep.
Flagellum
No, it was terrible. I swear Heroes is made on a 5 dollar budget. The flying is painful enough, but now we have to get greenscreens that are worse than what I can do.
lordoftherink
Another sub-par episode. No Claire/West was nice, but there was also no Sylar, which is IMO the best storyline so far this season (and I hated him for killing Charlie in Season One) Honestly though, Micah and Monica was boring as hell until Mohinder showed up, and is anyone else sick of the minor character that shows up in one episode then is killed in the next? That has happened too much this season, in Season One, I actually felt sad when when Eden died, when Charlie died, but this string of victims is making me become desensitized to deaths on Heroes. The Matt/Nathan part was GREAT, don't get me wrong, but this season so far has many more glaring deficiencies in compelling storylines as opposed to Season One.

I agree that the Claire/West storyline is rather annoying. And Peter could have opned the box 2 episodes earlier (though I love the Caitlin/Peter Matchup) But, truth be told, I am enjoying Season 2 a lot more than Season 1. I like the unlikely pairing of Heroes and the unexpected plot twists. Come on...did you ever expect Mohinder and Monica to get together so quickly?

I think the difference between Season 1 and 2. Is that Season 2 lacks a concrete theme or storyline linking them together. It's a series of standalone storylines that are slowly coming together into the GENERATIONS story. I say this not as criticism, but Season 2 has a different pacing and style. This may put off some Season 1 viewers.

Slow? Predictable? Then try to avoid most of the Marvel X-men or Cvil War Issues out there. There's a lot of filler issues out there I can tell you.

You don't like the flying? I think for a television series they do pretty good job with that. That first greenscreen shot was pretty weak but I have to say that I think the flying is much better than I could have hoped a television series budget could accomplish.
flamecrow
yeah, it was really great first season... with hiro stopping time and objects... but now it's totally ugly as if they fired some people and the new people aren't as good.. horrible.. watch nathan fly compared to west fly.. plus those "nightmare" dreams Parkman and Nathan were in was horrible too!, original one with Hiro and Isaac were a lot better

Come on. biggrin.gif

The green screen was absolutely really very lame, BUT, have you seen the scene with Matt and Nathan? The two nightmares, the intercut between them, Andrian Pasdar fighting with himself, and then with Greg Grunberg? That was awesome and not in any way as easily done as the green screen. The way they had to make sure everything fits, both with the double Nathan and with the mixing of the nightmares, there's a lot of work in that to make it right.

I don't mind the green screen, because the nightmare scene really blew me away. That totally makes up for it, imho.

I'll have to agree...and nuked new york looked much better in nathan's nightmare than in Hiro's future jump
qfactor
It wasn't as good as some of the other episodes, but I still liked it. I liked how Micah reconized Monica's power and how they are going to work together. It seems like in primetime they drag situations like this on and on without one person not knowing about the other. They got right to it and I like that, and that's what I like about heroes. I don't like the new girl, but I'm not a villian liker anyway; though I did like Candice and Jessica. I think it would be cool if they sent her after Sylar.

Uh..

Uh...

You really expect New York 5 years in the Future to be on fire everywhere? What Hiro saw was exactly what you would see years after a bomb went off.
EdensDemise
The nuked New York still looked bad though.

I loved the episode but my biggest complaint is for poor little Molly.

I mean, Good God, the girl had two shots at getting a father with a brain and she struck out with both of them.

I don't know who is more idiotic, Matt or Mohinder. Him just following his fat, stained T-shirt wearing father into the other room, AFTER he just mentioned that he did something to Molly. Lets not pursue that, lets look at some old memoirs first. I'm glad Matt was smart there.

Or Mohinder leaving her with those people. Why does he act like he doesn't know what is going on. He knows exactly what is going on. Does he have amnesia.

No, you are wrong.

Just exactly how was it supposed to look? There was massive (and convincing) destruction and it looked new. It worked for me.
Helmkat
How dissatisfied was I? Let me count the ways.

-I don't really have to actually watch any episode, the "previously on heroes" recap at the entro tells me everything I need to know. A good friend who watched the show religiously season one has now stopped watching and why? His words "The plot moves so slow that I could miss weeks and nothing of significance will happen." I agree. My partner and I laugh now when we watch "next week on Heroes" and say "Next week what won't happen on Heroes."

-To many Characters, the show feels like one giant cut scene.

-Silly plot lines. I'm really starting to dislike several characters. Hiro's story is just plain -boring- last season when we saw the preview of the "Future Hiro" it was so cool because it was a preview of what was supposed to come. Nerdy, geek Hiro was going to become a cool hero, but no he's running around the obvious backlot of a studio in some sort of whitewashed version of fuedal Japan. As for Parkman and Suresh, my god why don't they start a show called "My two dads" and move over to the Logo channel, Parkman has been an idiot since the show began and remains so-"Hello Matt, your Dad just put a little girl into a coma!" and can Suresh get any more nieve?

-The grunge. For the love of God will someone please fire the art director on the show! The apartment in Ireland, The apartment in New York, its all nasty dirty. I spent two weeks in Cork Ireland and it was a great place full of wonderful people and places to see. Heroes makes we want to never go back.

Entertainment weekly published a review of Heroes, bashing it soundly. I have to agree.
slappynipsy
What is going on? The show really seems stuck in a rut. Thankfully no episode of "Claire in the OC" this week and less Mohinder/Parkman as the Odd Couple, but still this episode (as with many this season) seemed empty and flat.

The show really needs something to spark it off, last season we had future Hiro in the subway this season we have... what exactly? A bunch of people with super-powers not doing very interesting things? We need The Resistance V The Company already, we need some kind of big action. Last season of this show was a roller coaster, this season has been a merry-go-round.

Hopefully things will liven up after the break, anyone else have any hopes for the future of Heroes?
Insight
Any episode without Sylar struggles. I want to get as much of him as possible before he leaves.
Dunc
Am I the only one that really couldn't past the awful, awful green screen enough to enjoy seeing Noah and Haitian working together again? Is that what Ukraine looks like then -- lacking more visual clarity than it's inhabitants/visitors?

On a side note, I think the Haitian's name is Dave. Everybody knows a dave. There's a TV channel called Dave these days.
314
Yes, that was awful, terrible and just plain bad on there part. They do such great things visually sometimes yet totally screw up something that should be relatively easy lol.
bman
Overall I think the show is getting better and drawing me back in. Still...

What is Nicki's motivation to let the company take her powers away? Though she didn't play a big role in saving the world, she has seen what's out there. Her role in life is to protect her son, yet she is giving up the ability to do that! Micah was the only thing her two halves agreed on, surely Jessica wouldn't let Nicki be that stupid. BTW, didn't she talk at all with Mohinder after Peter and Nathan flew away and exploded? Not a curious question about Sylar when she gave Molly back to Mohinder? Mohinder didn't think to warn her of who the bad guys are and the threat to her and Micah?

Who is doing the 9th Wonders comics now that Isaac is dead?

THEY HAVE! Writers too!

I'm not dissatisfied per se, but it is obvious that the FX budget has been mangled a bit. HEROES was the most expensive series to produce last year, so it makes me wonder if the powers that be didn't come down on them a bit. While I didn't notice any poor green-screening, I also don't watch the show in Hi Def either wink.gif

That said, I am a bit sad to see Hiro's storyline getting glossed over the way it has been. All summer, especially right before the season started, there was a lot of buildup for the Kensei tale. Now it's just getting skipped over. Hopefully the payoff will be worth it.
