Full Version: Can someone reverse the speech in the jail?

In Matt's dream/nightmare there was some reverse speech coming from the guard. I'd like to know what he was saying if anyone here has the capaility to check. The episode is available on nbc's site now so you could probably somehow get the audio from there...

Nevermind, I did it myself. He comes in and says "Put your hands against the wall" and then calls Matt a dadbeat and accuses him of abandoning his kid.

Here is the file. I don't have a good sound system to work with so I recorded it by putting my mic next to my headphones. You can still make most of it out. Keep in mind the second line he says is first since I just reversed the whole section.

That was a very Lost moment.

heh. having never watched Lost, it reminded me a little of those Charlie Brown cartoons where the adults' speech is always "wah wah WAH wah wah WAH wah"
HERΟ
There was a character on Twin Peaks whose dialogue was reversed, iirc.
Renrut
I thought he said "I buried Paul" and "Paul is dead now" wink.gif

seriously, this stuff gives me the creeps beyond all means.
Just listening to it reversed gives me the major creeps.
I didn't hear "dead beat," or anything, the only thing I heard was "hands against the wall,"

Just a little tid bit of information, the reason why Matt was hearing him talk backwards was because he has a fear against his own dyslexia [sp?] where he reads everything backwards
if you didn't figure that out already

that's pretty darn insightful! =)

and here i thought it was simple dream mechanics, like when you try to read a book in a dream but the words don't make any sense on the page

I still don't understand why reversed stuff gives us the creeps. The other day I was recording some sound clips on the newly discovered Windows recorder and when I put it on backwards, I was scared to death...

ugh, I know! I hate listening to anything warped or played backwards like that. sooooo creepy! Its one of the only things that really gives me chicken skin

Ok, went back and listened, in the beginning, it sounded like "You're a dead beat admit it... pay,"
So like someone said, he was saying "you're going to pay,"

God, give me the creeps too. There's a song I listen to that has backwards lyrics, and I've heard it myself. It's not that bad for the song, but these backwards words scares me. It really does. I'm just really creeped out by this. I should prolly share this info with some of my friends. xD Creep them out too.

I'm creeped out by the backwards speech thing too.

Pretty clever though, I must admit. I actually forgot about his dyslexia.

About two months ago I started hearing this song on Taiwan Radio that's entirely reversed. Vocals, instruments, the whole nine yards.

It may have been a mistake, I don't know, but they're still playing it that way as recently as last week. And when I tried reversing the track it seems to be a pretty straightforward rock tune.

(And for what it's worth, for the people who claim Chinese sounds like someone talking backwards, this sounds just as wrong in reverse as English would have.)

Reminds me of this post

Post

Where Matt is in the bar befor he meets the Haitian for the first time. When voices are going threw his head someone reversed some of the speech.

Audio

Some people said it sounded like

"stand up chief! (...unclear...) do you sense (...unclear...) anybody?!"
JadeDestiny
Twin Peaks did it for me...I am not even gonna listen to the recordings you guys made sad.gif

That reverse speeh really gave me the creeps, good catch on the dyslexia part. What would even more scary is if someone slows it down and we get a subliminal message... "Sylar is going to eat your brains". OK, gonna hide under the bed now. blink.gif

What worries me is those are the exact words I remember hearing...

.....and I didn't realize they were reversed!!

Some guys I know made a video once where they spoke backwards and taped it and then played it forwards. It is sooooo hilarious, but somehow still verrrry creepy.

That's interesting! I thought perhaps they'd forgotten about Matt being dyslexic since they never seemed to mention it again after the early episodes of season 1.
