I would like to know if the Russian spoken on this episode is good or not.
Boy, this is one multicultural show! I love reading English subtitles!
(I am serious. I hate, hate, hate bad actors voices doing bad English overdubs.)

I assume they were speaking Ukrainian, since they were in Odessa, Ukraine.

Ukrainian and Russian are very very close. Closer than Portugese and Spanish, I think. I'm not entirely sure but I don't think it's not uncommon for people to know and speak bothin Ukraine. Besides I thought the episode description thing said HRG's mentor was Russian, which is possible. Then again my friend was born and raised in Odessa and she speaks fluent Russian (I think she speaks mainly Russian?) and even refers to herself as Russian (though sometimes it's probably because it's easier than saying Ukrainian and people looking at her like they have no idea where that even is.)
I was going to ask her to take a listen to the episode and tell me the same things, heh.

What was said and what was put in the translation box were two different things in at least three scenarios (like "We need to talk"). The substance or general word choice was right, but the way the show used the Russian/Ukrainian language, it was choppy. I guess they didn't have time to get/pay a Russian consultant for 20 lines of dialogue.

i'm really really really really surprised that the actor who played noah's mentor could keep a straight a face.
