Late topic I know, I just want to know if other people have thought about this. Thinking back to volume one. Is this what Future Hiro meant by 'save the cheerleader, save the world'?

I doubt it, because future Hiro knew nothing of the virus. In his time line, the virus didn't spread.

Future Hiro was trying to ensure Sylar didn't become invulnerable so Hiro could kill him before he exploded. Of course, it wasn't Sylar who was he bomb at all, so that whole Save the Cheerleader, Save the World thing was a complete blind alley!
