For some reason, she's just so darned crazy that I can't find it in myself to hate her. Before, she was just annoying and kind of freaky. But now I know. She's just straight up crazy. Not even a sane rational kind of crazy like Sylar. Not a depressing "oh, not again" sort of crazy like Niki/Jessica/Gina. Just traditional crazy.

I can totally understand the frustration with her, but it makes sense, she has lived at the Company all her life, she is roally messed up. On top of that, she never got to grow up...that kiss seemed to suprise her. Maybe it was her first (or second to Adam maybe). Deep dpwn she is still that 9 year old girl with issues

I also think it has something to do with her having never had a boyfriend; I wonder what happened exactly between her and Adam that he still regrets.

I found her backstory to actually be very good. It was almost sad how happy you could see she was when Peter was pretending to like her. I think this may be the fastest they've ever given a character that amount of depth. Inside, she's really just a little girl who wants to be loved (who may express that desire or crave it in more womanly ways, due to her age). The sociopathic exterior is just a product of her longtime environment, never having been loved, and probably feeling like she was used by Adam. Very well done with her.

The thing with Elle is a weird situation. At first I felt she was pure evil but now I'm starting to believe she might not be as bad as we think. She has never had real life experiences as one her age has so she has different traits then someone who has had those experiences at her age. Plus, she's bangin'. . .

But if she's only gotten out long enough to zap people, that really doesn't help. She's probably never spent much time with people her own age. Her exaggerated sexuality is more like a middle school girl who's just learning how to flirt; having had no real relationships to develop true depth of feeling, or real connection to anyone but her 'dad', it's not surprising she turned out to be a sociopath with no empathy for others pain.

I'm kinda on the fence about her.
Sometimes when she does things, I totally forget she is crazy and that leaves me wonder "What?!"
Then I remember she is crazy and I'm like "Oh yeahhh".
So, its just a really weird mix of feelings towards her.

She has way too many hormones begging to come out. And I can't wait for Peter to zap her a little back! Come on, does she have to do it all the time?! And didn't Adam say it was like 6 years ago or something? And Elle is 24, so she would have been 18, and he's 400+! Definetly doesn't look it!

Well, it's understandable that she's so childish. She didn't really
have a childhood, and none of the experiences that she should have had. I think that's what I find so intriguing about her. She's naive, childish, and probably one of the most powerful of the known Heroes (especially in terms of control). It's like giving a troubled kid a gun.

Agent 42, my mind isn't what it used to be, who is Eve? Did you mean Eden? I get the feeling Elle was socialized more by Candice than Eden, if either. Candice and Elle seemed more self absorbed and more "I want what I want and I don't care who I hurt to get it" types. Also, I could see Candice messing with Elle's mind with her altered reality skill, esp. if Candice was jealous of Elle's natural beauty.

Elle mentioned as part of her backstory something about burning down her grandma's house when she was 6...
Does anyone remember if it was Angella Petrelli's house that was supposedly burned down by Meredith Gordon, that Claire escaped from as a baby?
I'd wondered about the possibility of a relationship between Elle and Claire since the previous episodes (both being blonde, blue eyes and all)...
Heck, I wouldn't be surprised if the "evolved" Heroes are ALL related somehow...

Meredith burned down her own house (well, apartment, if the graphic novels are correct).
I like how they developed Elle's character this episode. Greg Beeman mentioned in his
blog how they wanted to portray her:
QUOTE
Tim Kring had described to me how he saw Kristen’s character of Elle. That she had grown up her whole life inside the company, rarely traveling outside of the building and almost never unsupervised – all of which resulted in mal-adjusted social skills. How she had a, kind of, sexualization of her electrical power. And how she responded to everything on a very emotional, almost infantile level.

You know where it SHOULD go:
Peter rescues his Irish girl. Elle finds Peter just as he's making out with Ms. Ireland, and lights them both up with enough electricity to power a small city.
Except Peter gets better very fast, and Peter is very, very angry. Peter lashes out with his TK and Elle is literally drawn and quartered in an instant. Moments later, Peter realizes the horror of what HE has done, and collapses to his knees. Spends the next season mostly drunk, while his brother (the reformed alcoholic) tries to mentor him out of it.
Okay, yes, I admit it - they should hire me as a writer.

I was for sure pleased about getting some insight on Elle's motivation and why she acts the way she acts. I think its quite interesting for me to see how some one with powers that is pretty much a Company tool since childhood reacts to people like Peter and Adam. That for sure doesn't excuse her homicidal behavoir and plain crazy but its easy to see how she can be that way. That generates a lot of understanding from my end, but no sympathy towards her. She just became a very interesting character. I am looking forward to next week to see how they play her against Claire.

I love the way Elle is played. She can seem so normal and sane one minute, and then she is out there where the buses don't run the next.
If you met someone in real life like her you would think she was an everyday kind of girl, and then some little thing she said or did would make the lightbulb go off, and you would break out in a cold sweat and be filled with dread

It is true that we will always make allowances for people we find attractive and shun or ignore those we don't, but to be fair, almost
everyone on this show has been shown sympathetically at one time or another, even Sylar, who has more devoted fans than most brain eaters
